Can't Scrub QT Movies in Cover Flow/Preview?

Anyone know how to scrub a QT movie in Cover Flow and the preview in Column View? I see a play button that turns into a stop button. Is this 1980?
BTW, I don't have a clue why Apple doesn't put the QT controls under each QT movie in Icon View. This would be very useful.
Thanks!

Thanks Spacesuiter! Although I did not post this question, you have solved another problem that has been vexing my web site. My embedded movies would sometimes (tho not consistently) display only the playbar (no video) centered in the embed area like this. I just dumped the plugin you mentioned and it has solved the problem! Too bad Apple has not addressed this.

  • Cover Flow preview in Finder fails to work

    Hello,
I updated recently to  OS X Mavericks, and since i updated there have been problems in the Preview (Cover Flow preview in Finder.
When i open a folder and scroll down items, sometime there are 10 images and in cover flow shows only half and the other half are like not previewing them as they don’t exist in the folder so when i click on list view then gives me just file names i can see full list and open all files big, but the Cover flow is failing to work and desplay preview images - not previewing the correct fles mix, image names, for example i click on file 1 and it shows file 2… when i delate an image from the folder it just keeps a ghost image there so you don’t know if its actually erased, but again when u open in list view mode its ok, or you constantly have to close and reopen the folder to refresh the view in cover flow, so 100% Cover Flow fails to work since the update.
can you tell me what is wrong?how can i fix it please as i really need this feature?
    Thank you

    Does QuickLook work?
Select the File and tap the space bar?

  • Edited photos pixelated in cover flow preview...

I recently bought a Nikon D90. The images are pristine, but I like to correct the color of every picture I shoot using Photoshop CS4 and then import the corrected image into Aperture.
My problem is that when I correct the color using AutoLevels in Photoshop, and then view the image in cover flow, the preview is smaller and very pixelated. I'm able to open the photo in Preview, but the cover flow preview's quality is horrible. This was never a problem with image files from any of my previous cameras.
I've tried to see the differences between the specs on the two files, but can't see any. I'd like to understand why this is before I start making changes to all of the files I shoot with the new camera. My hope is that I won't create a bigger problem once the files are in Aperture.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm sure my workflow is far from professional. Aperture certainly does non-destructive editing, but I'm using it for cataloging more than editing. I've been using Photoshop longer and trust my skills with it more. However, using an external editor with Aperture results in the application creating a huge secondary edit file (I think it's a PNG file, but don't quote me). Rather than create that large unnecessary file, I'd prefer to import a file that I've already correct once. If I want to work with the image later, I export a new image from Aperture and work from there.
I'm shooting in JPEG (again, I'm far from professional). I don't know that I'm doing the right thing here, but I don't want my lack of knowledge to compound my problem by importing an image file I've messed up somehow.

  • How can i Display my images in cover flow view in Keynote?

I am working on a project .I am on Mavericks . I need to make a presentation of my project ideas . My project involves showing some images in cover flow view . So, is there any way i can show my images in cover flow view in keynote or pages app or by using any other app .

Keynote is an screen based presentation application
Pages is a page layout application for print output
Coverflow is a viewing option of the finder to look at the contents of a folder
To create a slideshow of your images, open Keynote and drag and drop images from a folder into the Navigator pane then press the play button
The Navigator panel is the side panel on the left

  • Cover Flow - preview image for videos and folders

    Hello,
Is there any way to change the still image used as a preview for a video file in Cover Flow in the Finder? I've found that browsing through folders full of video files, it mostly shows me black previews, or previews containing bits of text (opening credits).
It would be useful if I could select a still frame to use as the preview, so that I can actually tell at a glance which video I'm looking at -- the filenames are not particularly useful in this regard. I have all the files tagged for use with spotlight so that I can search them easily, but would still like to be able to find the files visually as well.
Similarly, I have folders full of images. Is it possible to replace the generic folder icon with one of the images contained in that folder, so that I can see which set of photos is in that folder?
I haven't been able to find anything about this, so I'll assume for now it's not possible. Any ideas if this might be a future feature?
    Thanks,
    Johannes.

  • Cover flow questions

Just picked up the new (3G) ATV. Not a fan of the new UI, but that's for another thread.
I'm home sharing with my Mac Mini library. On the home screen, it shows a cover flow of you libeary's titles.
    1. How does the ATV decide what (movies, music) is being shown for cover flow?
    2. I have a large number of movies, yet cover flow only offers me the first 25. For anything else, I have to select the Computers button and browse movies directly.  I'd like to be able to cover flow all my movies. Any ideas?
    Thanks, community!

Unfortunately it's not possible, at least not yet. I have absolutely no idea why Apple hasn't incorporated such an obvious feature into the Apple TV, but I wish they would smarten up and do it already. The only thing you can really do is suggest it as a feature. We can only hope a future update to Apple TV will include this feature.

  • Finder Cover Flow image preview size is small, cannot be adjusted and showing empty blank previews in Mavericks

When using Cover Flow the image preview in the main window (not the thumbnail list at the bottom) images appear but only use about 1/2 of the window space available.  It is also showing black/blank preview images as I scroll through the files even though they are cached.
I enlarge the Finder to fill my 27 inch display, slide the size adjustment handle (three lines under the file name preview) all the way down as far as I can.  The preview only enlarges to a certain point leaving the upper half of the window unused.  I wish to enlarge the cover flow preview images to use this window space even if it affects the overlapping or number of cover flow images avaialble in the window.    I am assuming this is becasue of the nature of cover flow showing the two previous and two following images to the left and right of the previewed image.  As I scroll left and right occsionally one of the upcoming images will appear as and empty preview as well.  It's all goofed up.
    Hoping for any suggestions.
I have seen articles about using terminal to adjust "flow height" but never anything substainial that seemend like an informed solution.

I also would like to know if there is an answer to this.  My landscape photos always display with a third of the cover flow window as blank empty space (matching your screenshot).  This seems like such a waste.  Is there any way to change the "padding" between the top of the finder bar and the cover flow preview?

  • Cover flow doesn't much with cover flow in iTunes

My cover flow on the iPod is not 100% replica of the iTunes. For example in I tunes last cover is the last letter in the alphabet. On my iPod classic there are many cd showing after that point. Another example in Itunes I am showing 4 Rod Stewart CDs in Ipod are showing 3 of them the other somewhere at the end of the carousel.
I erased the ipod and started from fresh... the same thing.
Does anyone have a solution or this is iPod bug?

In iTunes you can change the order of the cover flow by ordering on different columns and can choose whether to group compilations. On the iPod the order is always the equivalent of Albums by Artist with compilations grouped at the end. The iPod also appears to give the artist field priority over album artist which can cause problems with albums that have featured artists. If your album artist has more than one album, with some tracks that feature guest artists, you may get repeated covers. This can be fixed by setting the sort artist field to the value of the album artist for each track with a guest artist. Another problem is that each album requires a unique title to avoid clashing with other titles of the same name. If you have a number of albums called "Greatest Hits" for example, when you select one of these to play it you will find the tracks from every Greatest Hits album are listed. This can be fixed by renaming albums along the lines of <Artist>, <Album>.

  • Cover flow still not up to par

Getting my dad (we're both photographers) to switch to Mac took enough convincing... he had used Windows for so long and when he saw my Mac the on thing that stood out to him was the fact that he couldn't edit his photo workflow in 'Finder' like he could in Windows... the main difference being lacking the ability to do a quick preview and delete pictures in the folder that he didn't want. For two years while on the job he has been going through the images in 'Preview', writing down the numbers he doesn't want and then going back and deleting them, creating a couple of unnecessary steps in the whole process.
After watching the demo video I convinced him to get the upgrade to Leopard to finally have the ability to preview and delete images all in the same step, but the cover flow preview is... I don't know... is '**** poor' an appropriate term to use on these forums (apparently not since it was edited out...we'll just call it "tinkle poor"). If not, I apologize, but the images are such low resolution previews and can't be rotated or any other simple, necessary things that Windows offers. It can't be complicated. And why is there about 25% of total blank blackness above the preview image?
I know what you're going to say, that he should use iPhoto or Aperture, but the man is 59 years old... he doesn't want to learn about albums and stars and frankly when he's on a late job and needs to get a CD out to a client he doesn't want to mess with a half dozen transfers just to get the damned thing to work for him. I definately don't want to come in here and sound like one of those 'pluh... windows is so much better' guys, but in this particular area (that's especially important to an industry that Apple should be looking after) Windows has ya beat.
Forgive me for just coming in here and whining, but there doesn't appear to be anywhere else to go and complain.

The obvious point is that it's a feature that strikes me as simple and basic and there seems to be little reason why they can't manage it. If we can preview a film clip or a presentation with ease why can't I set a hundred photos to rotate in one direction in finder if that's what I want to do? I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a Mac, which is supposed to be the end-all, be-all photographer's and graphic designers resource for greater accomplishments in every way, to perform a simple task that an old photographer can do perfectly well on a PC. And yeah... he should learn to use other things for workflow, but more than that Apple needs to release the grip on their plans for how they think people should do their workflow.
And just for the record, no I do not think that it's your fault, either

  • Cover flow is completely bugged out and won't display correctly

Awhile back, one of my displays which held a maximized iTunes window was accidentally unplugged, which somehow caused the iTunes window to shrink beyond its allowed limits. Ever since, I've had this problem when I try to use cover flow on the Music or iTunes DJ sections (many playlists were affected too, but I just recreated them to fix it):
Exhibit A, maximized iTunes DJ with list view, everything works normally:
    http://uptohere.net/public/itunes-cover-flow-glitch.png
Exhibit B, same window with cover flow, note the massive glitch:
    http://uptohere.net/public/itunes-cover-flow-glitch2.png
Exhibit C, list view shrunk to the smallest size allowed, works fine:
    http://uptohere.net/public/itunes-cover-flow-glitch3.png
Exhibit D, cover flow shrunk to the smallest size allowed, still glitched:
    http://uptohere.net/public/itunes-cover-flow-glitch4.png
The mouse can't interact with the glitched cover flow, which is to say I'm unable to click on it or try to resize it because the mouse clicks whatever is hidden behind it instead.
This problem has followed me across installations, even moving from XP to Win7 x64, and from iTunes 8 to iTunes 9.
When migrating my installation, I copied these files from \Documents and Settings\[my username]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\:
    - iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    - iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    - iTunes Library.itl
    - iTunes Music Library.xml
    - \Album Artwork
    - \iPod Games
Other than that, the installation was brand new.
How the heck can I fix this glitch without having to completely recreate my library?

Is there any way to view and edit iTunes Library.itl?
    Nope.
Having created an empty library it will also have nuked the *iTunes Library.xml* file (unless you backed this up too). Close iTunes and rename the new .itl as *iTunes Library (Empty).itl*. Now copy your original itl file (so you'll have a backup later) and call the copy *iTunes Library.itl*. Start iTunes and let it rebuild the XML so that it contains your entire library. Put your iTunes folder in details mode and check the last modified date for the .xml file over a few minutes until it stops being updated. Close iTunes and let it complete the saving of files. Now rename *iTunes Library.itl* as *iTunes Library (Old).itl*, rename *iTunes Library.xml* as *iTunes Library (Old).xml*, then rename *iTunes Library (Empty).itl* as *iTunes Library.itl*. Start iTunes and use *Library > Import Playlist* to import *iTunes Library (Old).xml*. This should bring back your library with any meta-data that is exported to the XML. Whether this includes all the details such as ratings, playcounts, date added or modified that you might want or need is another matter - you have to try it to find out. If you're not happy just restore the old .itl file.

  • Cover flow pixelation...probably a stupid question...

I recently bought a Nikon D90.  The images are pristine, but I like to correct the color of every picture I shoot using Photoshop CS4, save the file, and then import the corrected image into Aperture.

Holy cow!  Hard to know where to begin.  Let's see:

Using Levels to correct the colors is like using a chain saw for brain surgery.  Using Auto Levels is like operating that chain saw while wearing heavy boxing gloves.
You should learn how to use Curves or, these days, correct the colors in ACR (Adobe Camera Raw), usually a one click operation as long as you have one neutral area in your image (like a gray card).
Are you shooting raw or JPEGs?  ACR can correct JPEGs too.

I'm not sure what Cover Flow does.  Sounds like it—whatever kind of Apple gimmick it is—is using an embedded preview.
What exact versions of Photoshop, the OS and ACR are you using?

  • Cover flow on IPod Classic is out of order

The cover flow on my Classic is out of order, not alphabetical by artirst. Most of the albums are in order, but there is about a dozen that are after "Z" (for example Cream. Should be in the C section, where it is in ITunes. Any ideas?

Never hurts to reset the device just in case that helps.
Confirm that the Sort Artist fields for the affected tracks are actually empty instead of containing one or more invisible spaces. Note that iTunes groups on Album Artist (order amended by Sort Album Artist) whereas the iPod Classic groups on Artist (order amended by Sort Artist).
See the section Missing or Artist or Album not with others by same artist which explains that enabling one or both of Settings > Main Menu > Compilations or Settings > Music Menu > Compilations can affect where tracks appear in cover flow.
The iTunes Store tends to mark albums that include any featured artists, or form an anthology of an artist's work, as part of a compilation to mitigate some of iTunes historically poor track grouping issues. Depending on your preferences within iTunes this flag may not have any noticable effect in iTunes, but may control what happens on the device.
Even though you can't see where the problem lies it may help to amend the track details in the way I describe at Tried that, there are STILL too many covers and then resync the device.

  • Background Cover Flow Ipod Classic 80G

    Hello,
I've got a question about de background of the Cover Flow on my Black Ipod Classic 80 G. Now i see the covers on a white background. On promotion stuff of Apple is see a black backround and that's much better
Does anyone know if I can change the colour of the Cover FLow background?
    Thanks!

The Cover Flow background is black in iTunes, on iPod touch and on iPhone, but white on iPod classic. There is no setting that would allow changing the background color.

  • Cover Flow doesn't work fine.

After I downloaded video podcasts (Best of youtube) I can't see my albums in Cover Flow. I see my videos! Only when I select an album, the correct picture appears. I also tried to Restore my iPod and after restore, when I downloaded again the podcast, the same error appeared. Furthermore, I tried resetting my iPod and restaring it, but it was useless. Note that this is my first iPod ever and I have it only for 3 days. I am really annoyed! Please help me!

Thanks for the reply. Glad to know it's not just me.
Do you know if it's planned to be fixed in the near future or if it's way down the priority list?
    thanks
