Can't search for updates in PSE

Hello everybody,
I'm using Elements since last Sunday. Now I face the problem I can't search for updates and I get the failurecode U41M1C212.
Does anybody now what I can do to fix the problem?.
Putting the Firewall or Antivirus off doesn't help.
(Sorry about my bad English, I'm from the Netherlands (and I use a Dutch version of PSE))

hi guys,
i habe a small problem. i have an iPhone 4S with iOS 5.0. I wanna update it to 5.0.1 over the air. But the iPhone can't search for an Update. Here is the original:
"Die suche nach Updates ist fehlgeschlagen - bei der suche nach einen Update ist ein Fehler aufgetreten." There are just 2 buttons with "Cancle" and "Repeat". Is there any way to fix that bug without resetting the Phone?

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

* Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

I get banners messages that updates are available, but when the App Stroe applications searches for updates it can't find them and says that: no uodates are available. I had to download both the MAC OS10.8.1 and MAC OS10.8.2 manually from the Apple website.

I can't search for books or authors on my iphone 6. It says no results found every time. Is there some setting I may have wrong? I have been using my kindle app instead.

I can't search for book or authors in ibooks. When I search an author or book and click on it a message that says not results found comes up. Even if I try to look up something popular like Dracula or Twilight. Is there some setting I should have clicked? It won't find or download any books at all anymore. This started about a month ago. I have been using my Kindle app instead.

I see that you are having issues with your connection to the iBooks Store. Here is an article with some troubleshooting steps that will be relevant to your issue, even though the article was written for issues with the iTunes Store:
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update(iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.

HT4623 that's a nice article about updates, however my IPAD (original) does not have the button to search for updates... what then?

can someone please direct me to original ipad update info- there is no "search for updates" button in settings, I think we bought the first ipad ever made...

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

I get an error on installation: printer keeps "searching for updates" Installation is OK, printer works, but because of the continued messaging on the printer, the screen on printer is unusable. Any ideas?

I understand that you are getting a message on your screen that doesn't go away and it says "searching for updates".
Are you still experiencing this message or has it gone away by now?
Have you unplugged the printer and waited for a few minutes and then plugged it back in?
Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. I have just got the iphone 4s and have been using the siri option, the problem is mine wont find me business etc in the UK it says that it can only search for business in the US. do i have to change any settings for this to pick up UK based items?

I have just recieved the Iphone 4s and have updated it etc, i have just started to use the SIRI app which is great but when i want to search for say business etc it says it can only search for these based in the US. Im in the UK and have found this a little frustrating not being able to search for things locally.

Trying to connect an iPad to my PC. That worked.... Unfortunately I thought I could use the iPad as a storage device and transfer a Power Point presentation to the iPad. Fooling around in iTunes i looked around in the folder structure trying to find the PP-document.
Then I got the info that the app Keynote needs to be used. I purchased the app and while trying to install it the answer is that I need to update the iOS. Clicking on the "search for updates"-button I get directed to one of the folders at the C-drive where I kept the PP-presentation... I need help to fix this! What folder is the "search for updates" supposed to aim at?

Can't Search For Google or Hotmail ?!??!

Firefox is just going completely haywire for me. The past two weeks have seen it degrade into madness. Tons of unresponsive script messages, Firefox not responding, completely freezing, and now I can't even search for google or hotmail. What gives??? I've tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling and now I can't search for google or hotmail.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

I have Malwarebytes and it is blocking Firefox several times a day and from many many ip addresses. Does Firefox try several ip addresses when searching for updates?

Every 30 minutes is as often Safari can update RSS articles.
AFAIK, it's not possible to set it up for a specific time of day.
You might check Safari > Safari Extensions. Might be something under Productivity under Categories.

Ios 8 stuck at 'searching for update'

I'm trying to use the air update for ios 8. Whenever I go to do so, I get stuck on the 'searching for update' screen indefinitely. I've left my phone on for 12 hours and it's still never found the update.
tried it on my computer, but the update tried to take over 10 hours to update then stopped in the middle of the update.
any ideas?

Just came out a 45 minute chat and a one hour call with Apple. It looks like my iTunes backup of my iPad mini got somehow corrupted. Happily I also own an iPad Air and I am restoring it from that device. If your backup also got corrupted during the installation of iOS8 I am afraid you can only set it up as a new device and start all over again. You can download your apps from the App Store, your music from the iTunes Store and try to get your pictures back from iPhoto or so. I don't see a way to use the old backup if it is corrupted as well.
If you can't restore try to hold both buttons for 30 seconds or so until you see the "connect to iTunes" logo on your screen. If iTunes is complaining about turning off "Find My iPhone" you can delete the device via iCloud.com.

HT1338 My new MacBook Pro is constantly searching for updates.

This problem is in the updates tab of the app store. I need to update To the newest version of software, but I cannot update the new software or shut down the computer until it finishes searching for updates. This has gone on for at least an hour or two. Can I do a hard shut down?

Do command-option-esc to force quit the App Store program. Then from the Apple in the menu select Software Update.
