Can't see apple tv 1 in iTunes

Does anyone know of a problem with latest iTunes as Apple TV now won't appear in devices list, the tab for ATV has also disappeared from preferences. I can choose to play songs through the ATV though.

did you reinstall iTunes as the article suggested ? try removing iTunes completely (click here and follow the instructions), then reinstall it using the standalone installer from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
note this will not do anything to your media files, playlists, ratings, etc.
another thing to try is to restore TV to factory settings, re-update it to the latest firmware, then set it up from scratch.

Hi Markie,
It's not in the top window now, it's in the main section. When you plug your iPod in click on it and at the bottom of the window the Capacity pole changes as it adds stuff.

Thanks. Sadly I always seem to have trouble following even the simplest and clearest directions.
I went to iTunes>Store. I swear 'view my account' doesn't exist, but i did see 'account'. The drop down menu only listed options to do with orders. No mention of purchases.
I then rang the local apple store and an 'Applette' guided me through the apple website so I could report my problem. Even then, we encountered a button that was invisible to me. It only showed itself in the 'mouse-over' state as my cursor changed into the pointing hand. Sheesh!! Such is my luck.
Anyway, the 'Applette' agreed that it was suspicious that I hadn't received an emailed invoice for any of the contentious purchases. I may well have been hacked. The problem has not been solved but it has been reported.

There are a couple of ways that you can download your apps to iTunes on your computer.
First, you can transfer your purchases to from your iPhone to your computer using the steps in this article:

I am trying to use the home sharing feature, have confirmed that I am hooked up to the same wifi connection.
I can't see Apple TV as a device when I open up Itunes on my computer.

Apple TV will not show up as a device unless connected to iTunes for a restore. Home-sharing is separate regardless and you access your iTunes library via the computers section on Apple TV (provided your computer is on and running iTunes of course)

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

Yes I am looking in the app store. When I look in Itunes on my computer and look at purchased apps it is there. And when I go on my other device and look at apps purchased all apps are there.
The new ipad doesn't show any apps purchased when I click on apps purchased and when I search the app store it doesn't show it is purchased. I am wondering if I am just missing something...need to turn something on in options or something. Never had this problem with previous ipad when I set it up.
