Can't see email attachments on iphone

I have emails that show an attachment in the preview, but when I can't actually see the attachment at the bottom of the message. The attachment does not forward with the email even though I've said yes to include attachment. I used to be able to open attachments. Anyone know of a solution?

Try resetting the iPad. No data is lost. (Oh, and check your security settings. Maybe some kind of function is enabled, that blocks attachments etc.)
Another reason might be your internet provider (cellular provider), if you have just been trying to download the attchments over 3G/4G, although I don't know that. Ckeck with them, if that is the case, and try to download the attchments over WiFi (you better check out multiple WiFi sources, just in case the problem is router-spesific (many routers, mostly public, but also private have certain restrictions on them concerning the amount of data each user can download). I'm really no expert, but that's what I would do...Otherwise, I'm afraid, I don't know. Really sorry about this!

Can't see email attachments on ipad 2

Hello, I can't see attachments on my ipad 2. In email client is just name of attachment and down arrow. When I click on it, for a few seconds there is a downloading wheel, but it disappears and arrow come back. When I hold finger on it, nothing happend. What should I do with that please? I have gmail account and I have already tried to shut down and reboot ipad, delete and set up account again. Nothing worked.

I can't open some email attachments

Seeing exactly same problem on IOS 5.1.1 ipad 2. This ipad belongs to my parents. I upgraded it for them and now they are pretty disappointed because of this problem.
What a shame, Apple has such basic bugs in IOS nowadays!!

Attachments that show as a bold downward pointing arrow in a gray rectangle in a dotted box have not yet been downloaded to your phone (usually because they are large). Tapping such an icon should download the attachment if you are connected to the internet and your mail server is reachable. Once downloaded, they should appear as normal (which would depend on the attachment type).
This is the "Using iPhone" forum, so I said phone, but the same applies on an iPad.

Can't access emails on my iPhone even tho coming thru on my iPad.

When trying to pick up emails from my iPhone, I am finding that not all are coming thru. I can see them all on my iPad or even in outlook but not on my phone. Any ideas? I thought it may be because they are being updated on my iPad first but not sure. I expected to be able to see them on both iPhone and ipad. Its POP and I have now clicked the leave on server but that still doesnt seem to have helped (but gave me a start so thanks). I have now tested it by not letting email arrive in outlook - I can then see emails on phone, Then receiving emails in outlook - in that scenario they are not visible on my phone. On that basis definitely an outlook related issue but am stumped as how to fix. Any further bright ideaswoud be very welcome

I've tried opening straight into other apps and just get error messages, and I the mail preview there is just a grey screen telling me the file name and size. It worked fine until I did the IOS upgrade

Try doing a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

I grabbed some pictures of Mail windows from the web to illustrate. This is a typical 10.6.8 Mail presentation, referred to in later versions as "Classic Layout".
Note that the right portion of the mail window is divided into two sub-panes, and that the divider is a bar with a dot in the middle. It is moveable and has been placed midway down the right pane. The actual message text of the currently-selected message is displayed in the bottom portion of the pane.
Contrast to this picture:
In this picture the moveable divider has been moved all the way to the bottom, and the top part of the right pane is the only part showing. The divider with the dot is at the lowest part of the pane.
To "fix", drag the divider with the dot and move it upward to create two sub-panes.

So you synced a new playlist to your iPhone but it isn't available on the phone?
When you synced the playlist to your iPhone with iTunes, did you have the music set to sync the Entire music library or Selected playlist…?
3. Select the Sync checkbox, then select the items you want to sync automatically each time you connect your device.
If you had it set for Selected playlist, please make sure the new one is selected to sync.

What does "Pages from my iPhone 5" mean?
If it means documents from the Pages app, you can probably convert them to Microsoft Word.
If it means screen shots, you can find them once you sync your iPhone.
