Can't see/find my Library folder

Hello, I have a MacBook Pro running Lion and I can't seem to find my library Folder. I know it should be in my 'Home' folder but it is either not there or not visible.  What am I missing (apart from the Library Folder...of course!!)

I've had the same issue with my Library folder, but this action doesn't seem to do anything. The answer I keep getting back from Terminal is the following:
chflags: ∼/Library/: No such file or directory
Also, Library doesn't show in the Go menu. I have to go at the bottom of that menu to Go to Folder... and type down Library to finally get to the Library folder.
So, how can I have the Library folder "not hidden" in my "username" folder ?
Jo

  • Manual Migration to Mountain Lion: but can't see the home library folder.

    Hi,
This is my first post in the Apple support community.
I'm moving from iMac running Snow Leopard to my MacBook Pro retina running Mountain Lion.
I only want to move what I really need, and leave all the old software and old files behind.
I put the MacBook Pro in target disc mode and started moving things through a FireWire 800 cable, connected to a Thunderbolt port through an Apple adapter.
Until I came to the items in the home library folder to move - and, of course - I couldn't see the home library folder on my retina MacBook Pro.
The key question is: can I make it visible for the time of the move?
Should I put the old iMac in target disc mode and handle the move from the retina Macbook Pro side and unhide the library folder using the Command + Shift + G keystroke?
Or are the days of manual migration over due to the hidden home library folder?
Applecare support noted I should use the migration assistant, and that I could chose the files I wanted to move.
Can you really do it in such a detail as during a manual migration?
    Thanks!

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and provide ~/Library/ as the path.

I lost an xcel doc a couple of days ago. Tried to find the Library folder in Users but not there when I use Finder (even when I do shift-command-G). But when trying to upload a photo in iphoto I found the library folder in Users. I can see my doc in Office 2011 Autorecovery, but can't access it! How do I get User to show Library then I can get to my long lost document?

The auto recovery dat should be in the Microsoft User Data folder in your documents folder, not in the Library. However, I Haven't had to look recently.

  • Can't find my Library folder

Can't find my Library folder in Lion.  Would like to use it again.  I went to terminal and put in chflags nohidden ~/Library  as it was suggested to me but no luck.  Any other suggestions?

To see it permanently open Terminal in the Utilities folder and paste the following at the prompt:
    chlfags nohidden ~/Library
    Press RETURN.

  • I can't find my Library folder

I just got a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display.and I can't find my Library folder. I tried looking under Finder>Go (in the file menu) > but there's no Library folder listed. So I tried Finder>Go>Go to Folder and I get the message "The folder can't be found" when I type "Library." I can't find it under spotlight, Utilities... anywhere. Help?

Also you can drag the ~/Lbrary folder to your Finder sidebar for easy access
or unhide it In Terminal, copy&paste  the following command to reveal the ~/Library folder:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library/

  • After I updated to Yosemite I can't see my Iphoto library in the attachments window.  When I select Media - Pictures only my Photo Booth Library Comes up

After I updated to Yosemite I can't see my Iphoto library in the attachments window.  When I select Media ->Pictures only my Photo Booth Library Comes up

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Where is my application support for iWeb?  I find no Library folder in my User area at all.

I need to transfer my iWeb site to my new Macbook Pro but cannot find any "Library" folder in my User area, hence no application support for iWeb and no domain.site to transfer.  How can I transfer my site?  Any help is appreciated.

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • How Can I See My Entire Library?

I created my library from the iTunes store and from my personal CD collection.   I created it on a Windows desktop machine.   Now, when using my Windows laptop, only my purchased tunes show in my library.   How can I see my whole library?

Migrate your iTunes library from the desktop, or see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if that is no longer possible.

  • Can't see my Iphoto Library

Just updated Iphoto. Now I can not see my Iphoto Library.

    Restore from your back up.
For anythign else you need to explain more:
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

I can't see/find "Instant Movie" in "Create" Dropdown in PSE 11. I've seen it in a Bob Grager tutorial,(PSE 11).

    Hi,
Check your Editing preferences in the organizer (Edit -> Preferences -> Editing)
Ensure that both editors are selected - the Instant Movie should then show up under Create.
