Can't see movie playing in Imovie Viewer

I can not see any video in the Imovie Viewer. I can only hear the sound. I am using Snow Leopard and the latest version on Imovie. Can any body help?

Yes, on ATV I have "All" playlists enabled.
I upgraded to ATV 2.4 and have the same settings.
I now see that in iTunes 8.2.1, the movie section for ATV does have a choice box for sync selected, but it's either "movies" or "playlists" separately. There does not appear to be a choice for movies and playlists combined, in case I wanted to select just a couple of playlists.
It seems to be all or nothing. Is this the way it's designed? If so, I hope Apple will add another choice for movies in the next ATV or iTunes update (the way it works for music playlists & folders).

Sounds like the viewer is in wireframe mode or is alpha display mode. If this isn't the case you need to go to the Final Cut Studio forum and give more details.

IDVD 7 (iLife 08) can't see movies in Movies folder

After making a movie in iMovie HD 06 then sending it to iDVD 7, (since I've upgraded to iLife 08), iDVD can't see any movies in the Movies folder. (It does see a folder within the Movies folder so I know it's searching the right folder.) It does see movies in the iMovie 07 folder, in iPhoto and in iTunes, but seems to hang with the "Loading movies..." message showing when the Movies folder is selected.
(Before upgrading to iLife 08 there was no problem with the old iDVD.) Also, please note that I use iMovie HD 6, not iMovie 7 that comes with iLife 08.
I've even ADDED the Movies folder to iDVD's preferences for searching even though preferences are to search the Movies folder automatically. Even the 2nd reference to the Movies folder does not result in any movies being seen. There are numerous files in the Movies folder, .mov, .avi, .agp and others. Any advice would be appreciated!

Your post is a little confusing.
iDVD project files are created by iDVD. iMovie doesn't open them.
Do you mean that projects you created in iDVD 06 can't be opened by the new iDVD included in iLife 08? Or do you mean that projects you created in iMovie HD can't be opened by the new iMove included in iLife 08?
I know that my iMovie HD projects were not imported correctly by the new iMovie. In fact, Apple has offered iMovie HD as a free download for people who bought iLife 08. So I would keep my old iMovie projects for iMovie HD and download and reinstall it if you copied over it when you installed iLife 08.
Not sure what to do if your old iDVD projects can't be opened by the new iDVD. If that's your problem, then you should probably start a new topic with that as the heading for further assistance.

Do these files open as intended in Dreamweaver CS6? I am not a CF expert but I am guessing that if you are able to open the files, then you should be able to see them in both the views. Can you post a screenshot as well?

You can try buying an adapter that'll plug into the docking port (where you plug in the sync cable), and it'll have a cord with it thats a three banded 1/8th inch (like a headphone jack but with three black rings on it. On the other end will be RCA cables (the red, white and yellow video cables.)
Plug those into your tv, change your tv to that source and see if you can see the movie.
Works fir my iPod touch, so should for the iPad. And can be cheaper than the apple tv.

I can see them in 'Active Appointment" view, but not on my daily/W/M view.
(They are also grouped in 'AA" as appointment, recurring weekly, recurring monthly, and recurring yearly. This makes it hard to find the right appointment as I cannot group them all on one entry)

Hi Ben,
both BSIS selects would become faster if you can add Company Code BUKRS as 1st field of WHERE clause, because it's the 1st field of primary key and HKONT is the 2nd field of primary key.
If you have no table index with HKONT as 1st field it's a full database access.
If possible, try to add BUKRS as 1st field of WHERE clause, otherwise ask for an additional BSIS index at your basis team.

Inserted the code but can't see the site in design view

Hello, I just downloaded the trial version of DW ver.8 and
opened an existing site I have and can't see anything in the design
view, but everything is there in the code view... and the site
shows just fine in the browser preview! This problem happens with
all the html pages I open up. Someone please tell me what I am
doing wrong. I am using mac osx ver.10.4.5.

I copied and pasted the code into DW and I didn't have a
problem viewing it,

Can't see movie rental options on my 1st generation Apple TV. Everything was fine until last night. Music, photos and YouTube access via Apple TV are working fine. I've checked for software updates, have the latest version of iTunes and have rebooted everything. Any thoughts?

I am experiencing the same problem. At the same time, I noticed that the movies I have on the hard drive keep hanging up during playback. Today, I took the ATV 1 all the way back to factory settings, and then set it up again. Same result. I only see My Movies Trailers under the movie menu. And trailers does not work. If you highlight it, it moves the highlight right back to My Movies. I loaded 2 movies back on the ATV1. They still hangup during playback. And even though I reconnected my iMac, I cannot stream movies to the ATV1 either. My library shows up in settings, but I can see no movies through the ATV1.
Did Apple change something? I can't imagine what else would make all these changes seemingly overnight. One day it worked and the next it didn't.

Its not clear what MacPro you have. If it is a newer one then the thunderbolt adapter will work. If it's like mine, a 2008 model then you may face some issues.
If your MacPro is older and has DVI outputs for video then you are going to have to either use a TV with DVI in or get a DVI to HDMI or DVI to VGA, whatever your TV will accept as input.
Also if you have to go this way the DVI doesn't contain audio so you'd need another cable to move audio from your MacPro to your TV. So this could get complicated. There might be some easier solutions.
As mentioned you might be able to airplay it to an apple TV if you have one.

Quicktime not always visible in dock but is running (I can hear the movie play and see in activity monitor.)

If I open a quicktime movie by clicking the movie icon (Quicktime closed when I do this) sometimes the movie (Audio only) starts playing but there is no dock icon, no quicktime running that I can see. I must go to Activity monitor to see quicktime is running. If I then Click on quicktime from applications and launch it. the movies shows up along with the dock icon.
I notice this when converting movies with compressor, it starts playing the movies it converted and about 3 of 10 I can't stop from playing without launching quicktime so that the interface pops up.

I have exactly the same problem. All of a sudden preview window is not working properly. In some projects it only plays audio with gray screen, in some it doesn't plays at all or plays audio from another projects. Sometimes preview gets frozen with the first frame in the project. I can however play video from Event Library, but without any sound. When I create new project and drag clips from Library, it plays with gray screen and again without sound. Restarting iMovie or Mac is no help. I'm using iMovie 8.0.6

Can't open .mov files for iMovie editing; can't even view in QuickTime, etc

Our band recently had a videographer record our performance using two panasonic hd cameras: AG-HVX200 and HPX170. Both were set to hd 720 X (?) at 30 fps.
All files were saved as .mov files.
We can't see them at all. We were told that they were designed to be opened in Final Cut Pro (which we told him not to do).
We do have Final Cut Express, but neither FCE nor iM allows us to select the files ("grey'ed" out).
Can someone please help us understand how to open these files? Do we need a specific codec?

I am no expert on DVC Pro HD, but here is what I found out.
HD compression format by Panasonic.
Similar compression type to DV 25 but uses a higher bit rate up to 100 Mbit/sec, depending on
the specific HD format being recorded. Highly popular format because of its lowe r bit rates, and
incredible resolution considering how highly compressed the format is.
This format is very popular as an acquisition format used with Panasonic's Varic am camera as well>as several Panasonic cameras that record to P2 card systems. A lso used heavily to convert higher->end HD formats into a high quality offline e diting format. Uses component recording, DCT
compression at approx. 7:1 (intraframe), 4:2:2 color sampling, 8->bit depth and up to 8 audio channels.
1080 formats record at 1280x1080, 720 formats record at 960x720. At 1080p, frame rates include>23.98, 24, 25 fps. At 1080i, frame rates include 25, 29.97, 30 fp s. At 720p, frame rates include
23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 59.94, 60 fps.

I agree that you want AIC not DV. AIC is a 4:2:0 codec so you will lose some quality, but it is your best option without buying FCP.
