Can't see my Broadband usage...

I've not long had Total Broadband Option 1 and I want to check my usage, so I don't go over my limit. Everytime I try to check it comes up with this message:
There's no recent usage because you don't have any products or services linked to this account.
Which I obviously do as I would not be able to use the internet. i know that a message will be sent when I'm nearing my limit, but I would rather have the ability to check it myself so I can limit what I use each day.
Does anyone know what's wrong?
EDIT: Ah **bleep** **bleep**. Everytime I ask something, I find the solution straight afterwards! Need to look with my eyes and not with my mouth lol.

  • Can I see examples of usage

I am looking to improve my workflow. I am interested in setting up from scratch a new iCal on a new machine. I believe I could probably utilize iCal better than I am. What would help me is a bunch of examples of how to set up calendars. I know how to set up calendars. What I am looking for is how to use iCal efficiently. What types of calendars help and how much detail?
The basic calendars are Home and Work. I manage people in a service business. I volunteer for a few non-profits. I attend industry events. I have meet with clients. I have a personal schedule to keep too. You get the idea.

  • View BT Broadband usage?

Can you view BT broadband usage anymore or is that gone for good?

You can view the total usage see this thread see message 42 and 47 - the link currently works for me https://community.bt.com/t5/Bills-Packages/Unable-to-see-broadband-usage-if-on-unlimited/m-p/1400811...

  • Broadband Usage Monitor - past hstory?

Like several other customers I was accused of using my entire month's  10GB data quota in the first two weeks of January even though I'd hardy used the internet.
Checking the BT Broadband Usage Monitor I can only see the accrued usage for the month; there does not appear to be a way of checking the daily usage other than by remembering to go through the six pages every day to check the latest figures. I would like to be able to go through the month day by day. That way at least if you get a nasty shock towards the end of the month you can at least determine when the alleged usage was supposed to have happened.
Others on the Forum have stated that the Usage Monitor canprovide a more useful breakdown of usage but all the suggested links have taken me back to the same old page. The only option is to see the total usage or the upload/download split.
    Any further suggestions?
Incidentally have others noticed that the date of the last update seems to be 12 hours behind the date of the actual readings. i.e. if you look on day C before 11:00am you get the usage figures quoted for day B but the timestamp is 23:59 on day A. After 15:00 the usage figures have not changed but the date stamp has moved to day B's date. Likewise checking on day D in the morning now gives higher readings for day B (because they are the figures for day C).  This is useless, BT!

BT have access to a usage monitor that gives you Usage to date in the current Month, Usage per day for the last 31 days and usage per month for the last 12 months. If you cannot get this information yourself, you can phone or live chat and they should give you this information.
Aparently my usage has doubled for the past 3 months - what sort of a misinformed service must BT be running?
1st March I will record my router stats and calculate the throughput - I have already read about incorrect usages and know faults causing overpayment by loyal customers.
Simply dreadful service but checking this has shown BT have been double charging for a free service - dreadful!

BT support has been useless and they have basically said its down to us ????
so my question is if i have not done it Bt say its not there fault where do i go from here and what is to stop it happening again , urgent advice needed , cancellation seems my only option at this point
    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
What option are you on ? Either way if it's for 3 months, that's an average of £50 per month, and hence up to 50GB extra usage.
Can you see your online usage figures, see my shortcuts options 14d-14j (see link below) - for the current month so far (well, up to yesterday).
Do you watch any catchup TV, or stream football etc ? If not, then your figures seem completely wrong.
As I've said elsewhere, I do know without doubt that there is a problem - which actually may be an admin problem with an incorrectly entered reference number.
You may like to contact BT again to see if they can say what was using the connection, if they quote the data protection act, then tell them you are legally entitled to this information (at a small cost say of £10) and how you go about getting these details.

  • Broadband usage suddenly rocketed - can anyone hel...

    Hi All
We are on Infinity1 so have 40GB/month broadband usage.  We typically use 15GB per month.  The main use is internet surfing, EMail etc.  We have 2 iPhones and 1 iPad.
Just after Christmas, we got a second iPad and a smart TV.  We watched a single HD film on the TV through Amazon Prime (Red2 - think it's a couple of hours long).  I was off work for a week and did a lot of surfing, but we haven't downloaded any other TV and have spent less than 1 hour streaming YouTube.
We have now exceeded our 40GB limit and are incurring penalty charges.
I'm pretty annoyed as the second warning EMail ("you have reached 38GB") was received last night, and looking at the usage monitor online, we had already clocked up 41.69GB and that was a 24hours out of date anyway.
I don't see why we've used so much bandwidth.  We streamed a single HD movie (say this was 5GB) and maybe we are surfing for 30 mins per iPad in the morning, and 2 hours per iPad in the evening, with the phones downloading EMails etc through the day when we're home.  I did also have some windows updates download and install yesterday, but the damage had already been done so it won't be due to that.
Our contract is up for renewal in April so I don't want to switch to unlimited broadband right now as it will lock us in for another 12 months.  Where is our high usage coming from?  It doesn't make sense that we're on track to use 3x what we normally use and the only difference is a single streamed movie and one more iPad which is used for a small amount of surfing.
Can anyone help please?  Normal settings apply to the router and I'm happy the security is ok (ie the neighbours haven't hacked into our wifi!)
    Many thanks.

You can upgrade to unlimited at any time, you do not have to wait untill the end of your contract.. If you have gone over your allowance, and upgrade before the end of the month, any excess usage charges are waived.

  • Can't Measure Broadband Usage

I am on unlimited usage, but still like to use the Broadband monitor to measure my useage.
But today on checking, I got a page which says because I'm on unlimited I can't look at my usage.
    Why?
How can I get at the figures?

I have been monitoring monthly usage stats for broadband download and upload since January 2014. I acknowledge that I am currently on unlimited package but with fibre option available soon on my exchange cabinet and increased use of 2 tablets in my home, I wanted to access future needs and appropriate package.
BT site states 'do not want  to waste time' monitoring usage! I think this is condescending and they should reinstate link to enable me to monitor for when I change package/service.
I put in an email complaint yesterday and received a call back. The operative stated he would forward my feedback and confirmed that my usage varied fronm 1GB in January but was up to 11GB in August.
I have today received a follow up survey and reiterated my dismay.
Please consider an email to complain... if enough feedback they might rethink?

  • Can't See Text Usage Details On Old Bills

I need to review text messaging details on bills from 2010. I can access those bills online and see summary information for both voice and text (and yes, text messages were sent/received each month), but I can only see usage details for voice usage. When I click on the Usage Details tab for any bill in 2010, and then click on the "Messaging" link, I see this message: "You do not have any Text & Picture Message Details for selected Cell Phone Number and Statement Date" -- even though text messages were sent/received on each cell phone on our account during that particular billing period. How do I fix this or get the text messaging details for my account otherwise?

Is there a way to delete all details of calls and text messages? Even from online reports? I don't need them and don't want anyone to access them. I consistently chainge passwords but I am having a problem with an ex accessing my account. I have tried the lega route and they don't have laws etablished for a lot of things online. I am trying to protect myself. I need none of my activity displayed. Can someone please help me?
    Thank you so much!

  • Moderators: can you press for a broadband usage mo...

This is a question for the moderators. You seem to be pretty good about getting stuff done at BT. Quite a common request for users on BT Total Broadband is for there to be an online broadband usage monitor in their control panel so that they can monitor their Option 1 or Option 2 usage so that they do not exceed their quota. Installing broadband usage monitors is not always feasible given the variety of devices which connect to wifi these days.
So how about it mods, can you press to get this implemented?

Hi, I use net meter, it is a good broadband monitor.
I use netlimeter 2 and Networx, but as has already been mentioned, folk who use xboxs, Wiis and other "non" computer type stuff can't monitor that usage. The router can monitor stuff, but it's unreliable and can easily be reset etc.

  • My BT shows an old account - and can't see "My Ext...

    Hi community members.
I have just returned to BT after previously having using them for telephone until Oct 2012. I had a separate broadband provider. Now I have gone back to BT and ordered Infinity.
As a first step, my phone account was changed over. The Infinity order went through separately.
I got an email relating to Infinity telling me that I need to sign in using "the email address that I had provided with the order". It so happened that this was also the email address I used when I previously had an account with BT, so I used it and it was recognised (after a password reset).
So now my phone and broadband are working, but when I go to the My BT page, it shows the details of my account as at October last year, and some error message which prevent me going to the "My Extras" page as below.
I tried live chat for help but they just said that it is a "website problem" and to wait 48 hours. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, did it fix itself?
    thanks
Due to a system error we can't display your product information. We are working to fix this for you as quickly as possible.

  • Monthly broadband usage -- BT knows, how do I find...

ok, so I've been forced back to BT's website again. It took 30 seconds for my blood to boil -- why is it such a poor site? The core issue I have is that I always want to communicate with BT via email, NOT via phone. That way I'm on equal terms and I can ponder the response. But finding somewhere to email is extremely difficult -- I always have to complain, when I just want to ask a question.
    Anyway...
I want to know what my broadband usage is. I used to be able to log on and see. But some muppet has decided that I can no longer do this:
"Why can't I check my broadband usage any more?
We don't want our customers wasting time monitoring usage when there's no need to. Having unlimited broadband means you don't need to worry about your internet usage: you won't pay any usage charges no matter how much you use."
Well I DO want to know what my usage is. I am seriously thinking of moving away from BT. If I know what I am using I know what sort of package I can purchase from a competitor. I also don't want to 'renew' a contract so I'm stuck with BT for another 12 months. As long as BT are in the background they are ok. I've had no problem with the service, but they seem to be getting dearer and dearer. (Line rental saver went up by 13.5% -- Inflation was less that 2% so why the huge hike?)
Their scheming, conniving business team who are looking at ways to stop me moving away while still screwing me are finally forcing me to do something.
So can someone please tell me where I can now find my monthly usage? The above response from BT is NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Now to find a cold shower and calm myself down again...
    grrrrr
    Solved!
