Can't see my network shared folders(on PCs)

I have a home network with D-Link router with 3 other computers (2 WinXP and a Vista). The computers are all on the same subnet 192.168.0.10X and all use DHCP from the Router.
The Macbook is getting an IP from the router but it doesn't see the other computers in the Finder. and when I go to the Network utility an ping to the other computers or even to the router it doesn't receive any packets back.
I have no Idea what to do. I would really appriciate help in the matter

Activate your iCloud email address, then copy the folders and content from the Hotmail account to the iCloud account, do them one at a time and ensure that each one is completely copied before starting the next. This will take time as you are moving the mail across the internet.

  • I can not access any more shared folders on windows 7 other pc on my homegroup

    Hello every one.
I had my home group network working fine over  wi-fi connection, (laptop with win 8.1 and laptop with win7) till few days ago I had to format and re install the win 8.1 using recovery disk from toshiba. Since then, although I have setup again the home
group as it was before, I can access the shared folders on win8.1  from win 7 but not the other way around. So when I try to access the shared folders on win 7, on my win 8.1 I receive the message:  WINDOWS CAN NOT ACCESS \\WIN 7\\SHARED FOLDER.
Notice that when I open the network folder on win 8.1, my win 7 pc is visible, I click on it, I can see all my shared folders and the above message appears when I click on them.
Apparently some settings have changed on laptop win 8.1
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Other Macs Can't Connect To My Shared Folders...

I have 3 macbook pros in my house, all running 10.5.4 Leopard, and only one has this problem and I don't know why:
The other 2 computers can see my computer under "Shared" in the Finder, and clicking on it connects the computers successfully as "guests", but they can't see any of my shared folders. It is just empty. I am sharing my Public folder, and I have tried sharing other folders as well, but nothing will show up no matter what I try.
I can see the shared files on other computers fine, but no one can see my computers shared folders even though they can connect to my computer.
    Thanks for any help...

Yes... I should add I have file sharing turned on with both AFP and SMB enabled. I also have the Firewall set to allow all incoming connections.
When the other computer connects to mine, in sharing settings, it shows one connected user connected, but that user can't see any folders on the computer no matter what I share.

  • ICloud + Apple mail; can I see content in mail folders on my mac?

Question for those who know iCloud.
If I am using iCloud + Apple mail; can I see content in mail folders on my mac?
Have 2 email accounts currently (yahoo and gmail), and use smart rules to move my email to them for organization automatically, issue is then I cannot see them on my iPhone mail, they are there, then "gone" when moved to the iMac folder.
    https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-MltXmqSQAXI/UkjrwPwtQmI/AAAAAAAAQk8/qwuOU7FFj dI/s720/iMac%2520mail.jpg

I don't see any evidence of an iCloud account there - do you actually have an @icloud.com address? iCloud syncs only its own email, it has no relationship to any other service.
However, if both your Mac and your iPhone are receiving, for example, Gmail, and you move a message on your Mac from the Gmail mailbos to a mailbox in the list under 'On My Mac' then this removes it from the GMail mailbox and as it's only on the Mac the iPhone cannot see it. In order to do what you want you have to create any new mailboxes on the GMail account itself and move the messages there.

  • Can´t see my Networks adapters in the Device manager!

    Help!
    I´m using Yoga 2 pro/windows 8.1
I can´t see the Networks adapter in the Device manager?!
(and no internet/WIFI connection is not working any more)
I´ve tried to install the latest Wireless Driver from lenovos homepage but it there is still problems. The laptop still can´t find any network adapter and the wifi connection doesn´t work, as it did last week!
Any one who has the same exeperience/or knew how to deal with these kind of issues?
    /Rasmus

    hi Rasmus,
    Can you try these steps:
    1. Check if you have a Network Controller entry in the Device Manager and follow this guide to get the hardware ID and on how identify the device.
    2. If there's no Network Controller entry in the Device Manager, then it's possible that the Wi-Fi card might have been disabled.
    Things to try:
     - Boot into the BIOS either by pressing Fn+F2 on boot-up, the OneKey Recovery button, or via the UEFI Firmare Settings.
     - In the BIOS, navigate to the Configuration tab and disable the Wireless setting  hit Fn+F10 to Save and Exit then shut off the machine.
     - Boot back into the BIOS and enable the Wireless setting then hit Fn+F10 to Save and Exit and observe if you can now detect wireless networks.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Can't see the Home Sharing Icon

I can't see the home sharing icon on the left hand itunes menu despite having activated the home share in the advanced settings tab. Can anyone help?

Hey I had the same problem,
Thanks to you I found it.
It's not supposed to be there, once you activate it it goes away.
If you want to see it, go to the advanced tab, click turn it off, then turn it back on, but don't say DONE on the last step or it hides it.
If you go to other computers or laptops it should probablly be there if that's how you configured it...
    hopefully that helps, (:

  • MacBook Pro can't see Airport network but three other macs in house can

Very strange. I can connect my three iMacs (G3, G5 PowerPC and G5 Intel) to my Airport Extreme Network, but my MacBook Pro can no longer see the Network, and Airport utility (from MacBook Pro) cannot see the Airport base station (although other macs' Airport Utility can no problem). My MacBook pro can see 4 other networks (my neighbours' networks). Doesn't seem to be a problem with my MacBook Pro airport card as I can connect to the (non-Mac) wireless network at work with no problem. Am really confused (not the first time)!
Installed the latest Airport Extreme firmware last week, which was the start of the problem, as I then lost the ability to connect to my Virgin Media Broadband digital TV box, necessitating Virgin engineer visiting at weekend to connect a cable modem to the cable tv box, to which the Airport Extreme station is now attached. Had problems connecting my MacBook Pro last night, but eventually managed it. All other macs connect seamlessly. Am stumped.

I'm troubleshooting a friend's MacBook (Model ID: MacBook4,1) that is having serious Airport problems. This machine's Airport can't see ANY available networks. Sitting right next to my MacBook (identical model), hers is blind while mine can see several open and locked networks including my own Airport base station. If I choose to "Join Other Network..." and enter the network name and password for my network, her machine almost immediately gives me a "Connection timed out" error. It doesn't matter where her MacBook is, it can't see any networks anywhere.
This is a new problem as her Airport was working fine for the first few months. I've just finished making sure all software updates have been applied so she's now running the latest-greatest, but still no Airport.
This sounds similar to the problems other folks here are describing so I figured I'd add my voice to the chorus. I guess I'll take her machine down to the local Apple store this afternoon and see if they have any ideas. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if her Airport card was fried.

  • Installed OSx Lion. Can't see my network user on launch

    Hello,
installed OSx Lion a few hours ago but on OSx launch I can't see my network user anymore.
Network user was appearing properly on Leopard.
Please help as I can't get access to our company network anymore.
    Thanks!

I figured out the answer. unfortunately, the Belkin router I have does not support a HDD formatted in Mac OS. I guess I have to decide whether to stay with FAT32 for my netweork drive or get a new router...

  • Can't see a network (Netgear router) I know exists

I've in the process of relocating and am in temporary accomodation without broadband, but have been lucky enough to get to know my neighbour who is running a wireless network next door on a Netgear router (not sure which model) and has offerred to let me connect via that.
However, now that I'm home and trying to do so I can't see the network. I'd guess that the router is only about 50 feet away through a couple of walls, so I wouldn't have thought that would be a problem. There is also supposed to be another wireless network running in the building, but I can not see that one either.
Before I moved I used a Netgear DG834G wireless router myself with my Airport Extreme-enabled Pwerbook, and I can't remember having trouble seeing the netwrok when setting that up (though it was a couple of years ago so memory may be fuzzy).
Does anyone know how I can scan for non-Airport Base Station networks?
Or do I just need to go back to my neighbour and get the IP Address to configure manually?

If your neighbor's wireless router isn't visible to your Mac, getting and IP address and configuring manually won't get you connected. Two things I suggest you do:
    1. verify with your neighbor that his router is not configured with "SSID broadcast disabled", thus rendering his router invisible
    2. see if your Powerbook gets a signal when located in your neighbor's apartment. Fifty feet and a couple of wall could indeed be beyond usable range.

  • IPhone Can not see home network

Ok, I have read a lot of strings about Wii issues and I have tried the following:
    - Unplugged (rebooted) my cable modem
    - Unplugged (rebooted) my Airport Extreme
    - Rebooted my iPhone multiple times
    - Turned on and off the Airplane Mode to re-search for WiFi connections.
    - Searched manually for the connection (typing in name and password)
    - Turned off the WAP/WAP2 Personal security
but nothing seems to work. I can not view my home network on my WiFi.
I can see all my neighbors networks and the phone works great on free networks around town but my home network will not show up.
My home network does work on my laptop though.
    Any thoughts?

    Nathan:
Great suggestion. I changed it to 802.11 n (with b/c compatability) and I can now see the network on my iphone and I can log in (I think).
I chose the network from the list and put in the password. The first couple of times it did not take but the 3rd or 4th time it seemed to log on. If I go to Settings and look in the Wi-Fi area it has my network name as the network it is logged into but...
There is no WiFi symbol on the top bar of the phone (only an E, for the Edge network) and when I chose any application (Safari, YouTube, etc.) it only accesses through the Edge network.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Can't see Mac network with JFileChooser

    Greetings
I am using a standard JFileChooser to select files and directories in my application running on MacOSX Snow Leopard. My problem is that I can't see my network using JFileChooser. I can see all the other Macs on my network using Finder or a standard Mac file browser but not on JFileChooser. I suspect I am missing something really simple but at the moment I am at a loss.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi,
I also have the same problem.
My belkin wirelss router is set to channel 13, therefore my macbook cannot see this network when it search's, for the above reasons.
However unlike the situation above I am unable to change from channel 13 as we have discovered in the past that this is the only channel that is not in use by other networks around our area. The rest gave us interferance troubles.
I have a number of windows laptops in the house and there is a setting that you can change so the laptop will search for channel 13. I was wondering if anyone is aware of a setting on the macbook that will make the airport card search for 1 - 13 not just channels 1 - 10 as it is now.
I thought I would add this question to this topic as it is very similar. I hope I was correct in doing so.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • E4200 Can't see my network shares after upgrade

I can't see my network shares after upgrade altough everything works fine , the network scanner shows all the atatched devices but in Eplorer when I click Network there is nothing shown on two computers running Win7 64.
I did downgraded the firmware back to .01 but still no network .
    Any help ?

After upgrading the firmware did you reset the E4200? After successful firmware upgrade you need to reset the router. It is recommended to reset the router once. Steps to reset the router:
Push the reset button on router for 30 seconds, turn off the router wait for 30 seconds and then power it on. Power light should blink when you perform the reset process.
After reset, reconfigure the router and then check the connectivity status…

  • Can't see wifi network

Today I got a wimax modem with built in wifi (greenpacket DX230). There is no customization of the device at all. The SSID and password are already printed on the device and are supposed to work without setup. However, I cannot see the network from my macbook running snow leopard, even if I am right beside the device. I have checked several PCs and they can all see the network, and my iPods can also see the network. I have yet to try another mac (will try tomorrow).
Does anyone know why this would be? I thought wifi was a standard and that there is no deviation from it? Why would my ipods be able to see the network but not the macbook? Kismac doesn't even show the network

    GShumway wrote:

It might help to reset the connection settings on your Mac using these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved, recognizing that, depending on your problem, not all of these steps will make sense:
    1) Use the AirPort menu bar item to turn AirPort off, then on again.
    2) Try to select your Wi-Fi network from the AirPort menu.
    3) In the Network panel of System Preferences delete the AirPort item from the left column, then add it back.
    4) In the same panel as (3), define a new location and see if you can make that work.
    5) In the same panel, select the AirPort connection item, click the "Advanced" button, select the "TCP/IP" tab, then click "Renew DHCP Lease".
    6) In the folder /Library/Preferences ( not <yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences), move the folder SystemConfiguration onto the Desktop, then restart your computer. See if you can now make your AirPort connection work.
They may not help, but they'll only take a couple of minutes to try. Before you try these, if you have any special network settings on your Mac for things like DSL credentials, note all your network settings, because the latter steps will destroy them. If you got all the way to the last step, if things don't work any worse than before, you can trash the saved SystemConfiguration folder.

  • IPhone 4S - iOS 6 - can't see WiFi networks

I have a strange problem with my iPhone. It's a locked iPhone, bought from Vodafone from my country. I use it locked and un-jailbreaked. I went in France for 2 weeks where i had my Roaming active, but i didn't used cellular data, only WiFi. Now, back home in my country, it seems that i can't see wireless networks. I tried to reinstall, update to the last firmware, it seems that wireless appear for 1 second when at first start, then it disappears and i can't see no more WiFi networks in list, tho there are like 10 networks around me.
Any ideas? Or someone else had the same issue?
    Thanks,
    Nick

i went to Vodafone. They said they will replace it. It seems like a manufacturing defect.

  • Network shared folders appear as 'sharepoint'

    Hello
I have 1 iMac and 2 windows 7 computers on my local small office network.
From the Mac I can see and access all shares on one PC, on the other, when I access via finder, the shared folders appear as 'sharepoint' and I cannot see any sub folders. I have checked settings on both PCs in the network centre and they seem identical.
Thanks if you can help. Regards

Hi, just an update...some of the problem is related to extensions. Some files have explicit extensions and others not. When I change the file extensions to an explicit extension (eg .pdf) then the file is fine.
However, there are no extensions on folders or folder aliases.
I've tried using chmod -x + file location/file name but that makes no difference to the alias, meaning that the Snow Leopard does not recognize the item as a short cut to another folder. Snow Leopard will only recognize the item as an alias if it's been created on a workstation running Snow Leopard OS. Very odd.
