Can't see or use partition

When i start bootcamp, i can make a partition +/- 60 mb, put de Win cd in and restart, no bootable bootcamp partition on the grey startup screen, only OS X
There is however an bootcamp icon of de HD.
Tried several times, deleting the partition again gives also the questionmark on startup, so i have to click the ALT-key to make OS X start again.
Is my HD getting faulty ? repair says everything is fine

*Boot Camp: iMac displays a black screen during installation of Windows 7*http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173
If the screen remains black after several minutes, power it off (hold the power button for several seconds), then go back to step 4. Ensure that your USB device or SD card is formatted as Master Boot Record, FAT, and that AutoUnattend.xml and Drivers are on the root level of the directory.

  • I can't see the Mac partition (and I can't install Mac Os X!)

Well, I installed Windows XP, I used MacDrive, etc. Suddenly it appeared a blue screen (in XP) and now I can't see the Mac partition, even pressing Alt while booting. Also I can't reinstall Mac Os X because the Mac partition doesn't appear in the install's menu or in the disk utilities (in the disk utilities it gets freezed when I try to enter to it, so I can't manage or restore the hard drive)
    Help!

    Hi, Ralph,
The problem is that I did erase the partition, using disk utility, but I can't go back to my original disk size pre-partition, as disk utility won't let me do it and gives the message "Couldn’t modify partition map because file system verification failed." When I try to use Boot Camp Assistant it won't let me select the third option to remove windows.

  • [Solved] Can't see GPT disk partitions in Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just added 2 new disks and had them set up equally with GPT and equal partitions, to use the partitions as RAID1 in Arch, and the rest of the storage for Windows. It works as expected in Linux (I guess), but Windows shows them as uninitialized.
Can this be due to the fact that I created the GPT and partitions using fdisk? Caus' gdisk can't see any partitions either when I start it. If so, is there any way to convert it or do I need to redo everything?
The output of "fdisk -l" shows this:

  • Why i can't see the used space files?

    Hi,
I have a partition have about 116GB used space i can see that in the partition properties, but i can't see any file in this partition, i have choose display the hidden files option, somebody meet the same issue? i am useing 2012r2.

    Hi,
Do you mean you have an empty partition with 116GB used space?
As you mentioned to "show hidden files, folders and drives", have you also uncheck  the option "hide protected oprating system files" to show system files?
Generally at least there is a "System Volume Information" folder on a partition (hidden).

  • Emergency! Partition permission error! can't see the whole partition!

    GUYS, ! Need your help!
The HD inside my MBP has 2 partitions. system & work
Somehow, I can't see partition Work in the Finder. I tried repair it in the disk utility. However, partition Work appears to be grey, and I can't verify nor repair the permission.
I also tried booting MBP with the Tiger restore disk. I met the same situation and No success at all.
Can anyone help me this out? Thanks in advance.

It could be that the partition has had the invisible bit set. See this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=865694&tstart=0
If you can still navigate to stuff on the partition it is likely that is the problem.

  • Can't see demo 'Using Oracle Reports with Oracle JDeveloper'

    Hi,
    I can't see this demo :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/JDEV1/index.html
I have this java error :

I have to create a custom destination for Reports in JDeveloper, but I don't find starter doc (for JDeveloper).

    Hi,
Unfortunately this demo is one of those old demos which have technical problems with new IE + JDK versions, so we had to take it off. The link to this demo is no longer available on OTN:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/search.html?cat=INT&col=DEM&submit=Search
You may have bookmarked it. If it is available on any OTN page, pl let me know.
For Oracle Reports integration with JDev, pl see the tool / utility available at this page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/search.html?cat=INT&col=UTI&submit=Search
This tool/utility is currently available with 10g (9.0.4), and has not yet been tested with 10g R2 (10.1.2).
But if your objective is only to use to use JDev to develop a pluggable destination, you may want to see the pluggable destination API documentation available here, which can be developed with any tool including JDeveloper:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/apis/plugDestination/index.html
Some plugin destinations and their source code is available here for reference. As you can see, its pretty straightforward - most of these samples have just a few lines of custom code:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/pluginxchange/index.html
Of course JDev-specific starter tutorials are available here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/index.html

  • TS2570 Boot or Restore, can't see my Mac partition but can see my Windows7 partition. From Windows I can access my Mac files which I've backed up on a NTFS drive. I most probably will need to erase the Mac partition & make a new one, what happens to Boot

    Hi,
When I boot my 2010 MacBook Pro I get a gray screen, when I try to do a Restore, the Mac partition is nowhere in sight, it sees my Windows Partition.
When I in Windows I can see all the files in the Mac Partition and I've backed up my Mac files on a NTFS external drive. My Windows partition has been working fine, I've installed it 2 years ago and have been receiving regular updates. Only problem is my display driver crashes occasionally.
I most probably will have to recreate the Mac partition and re-install Mountain Lion from the Mac servers. BUT, what happens to Boot Camp and my Windows 7 partition?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no way to expand the partition upwards. As you noted, you would need to either start afresh, or simply find a good use for the first partition.

  • [SOLVED] Can't see my windows partition from openbox

    Hi again!

If you want the partition to be mounted everytime at boot, i agree with Mr.Elendig:
putting it in fstab is the easiest way to do.
But just in case,  as I see you're using thunar.
If you have thunar-volman installed, you can use "thunar-volman -a DEVICE_UID" to mount whatever you want
    1)
    blkid
    to get the UUID, then
    2)
    lshal | grep info.udi | grep UUID
    to get the full UID
then you can use volman -a /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_B6380918230...
I'm using it in ~/.config/openbox/autostart.sh to automount my USB disk at boot, for example:
I wanted to keep the hotplugging possibilies, but even it was automounting OK when plugged after boot, "coldplugging" wasn't working, and it was quite boring having to do it manually (or unplug/replug) it everytime.
Don't know if it's the best way to do it, but it's working perfectly!
    Edit:
It will be mounted in /media/disk by default
It's possible to mount this NTFS partition with a specific user, group or name, in case you need it.
(wich can be really usefull to use mpd with your music on a hotplugged NTFS disk, for example: you specify a group, and you make the mpd user part of it...)

  • Can't see all my partitions

    Hello.
I'm trying to install Arch Linux on an external hard drive. I have an iMac. But, during "Selecting filesystem mount points", not all of my partitions are shown - only first 6 of them. That's too small for me to install it. I already had Arch on my other PC and it worked fine cause I didnt have shit loads of partitions Well, is there any fix for that? Scrolling down doesnt help of course. SOME partitions of the external drive ARE shown tho, but not the ones I want. Damn, I want Arch! It's the best OS ever ^^
    Thanks,
    Dev

In a second terminal (alt+F2), check if you can see them all with "fdisk -l". If you can see the partitions, you can skip that step in /arch/setup and do it manually, then move on to the next step in the setup once the partitions are formatted and mounted. I'm not sure how to handle swap though (you need "swapon" at some point), and I don't know if setup will automatically configure files later on (e.g. setting the UUIDs for grub).
The basic steps are to create a file system on each partition (mkfs.ext3, mkfs.reiserfs, mkfs.xfs, mkfs.jfs, etc) then to recreate your desired directory structure in /mnt using "mkdir" and "mount", e.g. sda4 as / with ext3, sda5 as /home with reiser:
    mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda4
    mount /dev/sda4 /mnt/
    mkdir /mnt/home
    mkfs.reiserfs /dev/sda5
    mount /dev/sda5 /mnt/home/
All the normal caveats apply: be careful, know which disks you're formatting, etc

  • Leopard can't see FAT 32 partition?

I realize there have been one or two posts on similar subjects, but I haven't seen anything specifically the same, so forgive me.
So, I've had Vista running fine under Boot Camp both before and after the Leopard upgrade, installed on a separate internal 500 Gig hard drive. But due to the fact that Leopard still can't write to NTFS, I thought the easiest way to enable sharing of files between Vista and OS X would be to create a small 20 Gig FAT 32 partition on my Vista disk which I did using Vista's Disk Manager. Except when I boot into Leopard, it doesn't show up and I can't find any way to get Leopard to recognize it. So, the partition is there, it's formatted, but I can only use it in Windows which kinda defeats the point.
    Any ideas?

Didn't work, OS X couldn't format the free space via Disk Utility. So I started from scratch and created two FAT partitions with Disk Utility, then installed Vista on one. Now both Vista and OS X can see the common FAT partition.
