Can't see thumbnails...stumped on Step 1!

Greetings...just starting out with the tutorials in the trial version, and I seem to be blocked on the very first step. When I load the 3 clips (background, orchid, table) as described in the very first tutorial, what I get looks nothing like the figures in the tutorial. My nodes have no thumbnails, they’re not short green bars, they’re each about 5 inches long, red, and have the entire file path written over them: ApplicationsShakeTrial_Documentationetc....
Clicking on the left end doesn’t load the viewer, it just makes a little 1A appear below the node. Hitting T or R does nothing...
Where did I go wrong, or what have I failed to do?
Many thanks!
dc

i can't remember that tutorial but if you don't open a new script you have to relink the media. the red node color is a sign that the media is no longer in the directory it had been linked to.
double click the filein so the node loads into the parameters tab. next to imageName is a folder icon. click the folder icon and then you can navigate to the proper directory for the media. if i recall, the manual is missing this procedure and i had to be clued in as well.
you can also rename the filein node in the parameters tab should you decide you need to.

You should get the mobile version of YouTube which sends Firefox a notice to open it in the YouTube App. That will have a much better playback experience than running Flash in the browser.

  • I can't see thumbnails!

All my photos are still there, but each photo takes up the whole screen, and the only way to view them is to scroll up and down. When I go to view, the option "Hide thumbnails" is not highlighted and available for selection. I have never had this problem before. How can I see them by thumbnail again? My big problem is I can't select a block of photos for export.
Yesterday it was working, today it is not.

Don't feel bad. You aren't the first person to miss the slider. Give yourself a green star for figuring it out.
    Have a nice day.

  • CS5 Can't see thumbnails of .PSD's in windows

I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 and upgraded to CS5. In previous versions of PhootShop I was able to see thumbnails of .psd files in windows. Now all I get is a PhotoShop icon. Does anyone know if there's a setting that can be changed to generate thumbnails? Help woud be greatly appreciated.

There are no "unsupported registry hacks" that actually work with Windows 7 x64 as far as I know.  People often post misinformation because they don't really understand the limitations and they extrapolate that things that work for one build of Windows will work for another.  And up through Vista x64 it was possible to run the 32 bit Explorer, but that's been closed off in Windows 7 x64.  Now a codec MUST be a 64 bit build.
I have been using the first package John noted above (FastPictureViewer codec pack) for quite some time, and I like it.  Notably it provides raw file thumbnails as well as PSD thumbnails.

  • Can't see Thumbnails in the Organizer

I recently bought a new HP computer. It has Win 7 64 bit installed and is a strong enough system to handle PSE (4 Gig ram, dedicated graphics card.....) I had PSE import my photos automatically. I am new to PSE and think I did it right. The problem is that I cannot see the thumbnails in the window. It only shows an hourglass icon. If I drag the bar down to see the older or newer photos, I can see the thumbnails but then they immediately turn to the hourglass icon. I cannot seem to figure this out to get it to show them. Any help?

Perhaps the thumbnail cache is corrupt; try recreating it with steps 3 and 5 of this FAQ:

  • Can't see Thumbnail or open MPEG-2 videos with QT

Hello, I am new to MAC and not really a computer expert. I have transfered all my video mpg2 files on my new MAC (from a Sony DCR-SR85 which has a hard drive / i transfered the file to my computer as if it was an external drive). Thumbnails do not appear and i can't open with QT (no codec). I can open with VLC, but to check the file, rotate them, etc... i would like to see the thumbnails (so no need to open them 1 by 1). I looked at a few forums and responses seem very technical so i could not figure out what to do; i still have checked that:
    - I have OS 10.7.5 so reading MPG-2 should be possible ?
    - i have found in system / library / QT file (after struggling to find how to get there...) that i have indeed a file Apple MPG2 Codec component
    - i have also read it might be the Sony files are not exactly MPEG2 ?
My main aim is to locate the Video which need to rotated, so i can do the same with Image Browser from my Canon Camera.
Is there is an easy fix, that would be great. I there is a specific Software which could help, i may get it.
    Thanks for your help.
As it is the first time i try to post sth on internet, i am not even sure how i will see respone if any, but that will be the second step.
    Cheers
    Serge

Hello QuickTimeKirk, thanks for taking the time to reply to my query. I have just opened up one of the few video i can open with QT (.Avi) and i could check that the version of Quick Time i have is indeed 10.1, so it does not seem to be the issue. Opening of the files is not my worst concern, although it would be great to be able to open them. What bugs me is the fact that if i look in a certain subdirectory with a set of videos coming either from my Canon Ixus or from my wife Canon Ixus or from my Sony Camcorder (.AVI, .MOV or .Mpeg), either in Finder, Image Browser, or even Adobe Premiere, i can't even see the thumbnail of the mpeg2 file, so it is dificult to sort out. Any ideas ? Cheers. Serge

  • Can't open raw images in CS2 after install, can't see thumbnails in Bridge

I hope you guys can help.
We just purchased an Acer laptop computer, picked it up yesterday. Hubby is going to use this strictly for working on his pictures when out of town. He didn't even plan to hook it up to the internet. It has Windows Vista Home Premium, 2G of RAM, 120G of hard drive and a CD/DVD player/recorder. I installed Photoshop CS2, Nik Sharpener, Neatimage noise remover and Huey Pro Calibrater onto the computer last night.
When I opened Photoshop & Bridge, opened a DVD of some RAW images, Bridge would not show the thumbnails and I couldn't open any in Photoshop. In Bridge all that showed was a light blue box with CR2 over it and the file name below for each image. When I tried to open one I got a "Can not complete process due to a program error" message. I did open a jpeg image into Photoshop from the ones included in my documents and had no trouble with that. I didn't acutally try to do anything with it so I'm not sure that any of the options in Photoshop actually work, although they were all active with the jpeg image.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to correct these two problems?
Thanks for any help I can get, Linda

    Thanks John,
I actually went into Photoshop and ran the update. This gave me the current Camera Raw file 3.7 and an update for Bridge. I downloaded it and it is installed in Photoshop. This gave me thumbnails for the images taken on our Canon Rebel XTI, but not the Canon 30D. I went to the Camera Raw Update page on adobe.com. Found the 30D back in update 3.4. Shouldn't the latest update have all the previous updates included. As I understand the instructions, you are just supposed to replace the older version of Camera Raw with the newer. Will I have to install each update in order to get the support for my camera?
This leads me to another question, I downloaded the 3.4 and was following the instructions for installing it. It says to go to My Computer, open C, or disk with files installed, then navigate to Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS-2\File Formats. My computer wasn't exactly like this, but I did get to the plug-in for Photoshop CS-2. After getting there, move existing Camera Raw.8bi to another location. Copy the Camera Raw Plug-in from the download into the same folder. See why is seems that the current version should have all previous updates?
Anyway, got to the Plug-in file and there is no Camera Raw file in it. I went through all the files in Adobe Program Files that looked like it might have it in it; bridge, ImageReady, and shared files. No Camera Raw to be found. I did open Photoshop up and double checked that it was showing up in the Plug-in list. Yep, it was there. Why can't I find it in the Program Files?
Sorry this is so long, I wanted to check everything I could before replying. Sure hope I can get this straightened out. Linda

  • Viewing Photos - can only see thumbnails

  • Can't see thumbnails for anything when I doing a spotlight search in Finder

Hello everyone, I am having some trouble with viewing things in my Finder. When I try to do a search in the spotlight within finder, I am not able to see anything. It says that there are many files that come up but all that I see is a grey window that flashes up every few seconds. Even in cover flow there is no picture of any file. Any help on this?

It is possible that the Spotlight preference file (com.apple.spotlight.plist) is corrupted. You can try moving it from your home folder's Library/Preferences/ folder, logging out & back in to see if that makes a difference.
If not, try creating a temporary new user account, logging into that account, & seeing if the problem persists. If not, something else in your home folder is at fault.

  • Can't see thumbnails pse 7

I have just installed pse 7 all seems ok, but the thumbnails do not appear when in organiser, anyone else had this problem? Is there a patch or way to view them properly? By the way this is my first try at elements, and am a bit of a techno klutz !

    Brin,
Did you have a previous version of PSE? If so, you need to do a File->Catalog and then choose your old catalog and "Convert" (I think that's the right option.
If you did not have a previous version, then you need to do a File->Import->From Files and Folders to see the thumbnails.

  • I purged my cache, how can I see thumbnails of my images again? Help!

I am a photographer and I should know more about my computer, but it is an iMac and it is new to me.  My latest images were uploaded and when I tried to edit an image, a pop up kept coming up saying something about "the start up disk is full and you need to make room, etc.."
I decided to purge my cache within Adobe Bridge.  Now, when I open bridge to view my images, it just shows them as a "CR2" file (I shoot RAW) and I am unable to see which image is which.
How can I fix this?  I want to be able to view my images to see which one's I want to edit and save.
    Thanks!

If you aren't seeing everything then try increasing your screen resolution to at least 1024x768 so you can see the whole page: iTunes window does not display all options

  • Can I recover photos I deleted but I can still see thumbnails in my iPhoto?

I accidentally deleted the actual images but the thumnails, from the import, still shows up in my iPhoto. Is there anyway I can recover the files?
    Thank you
    Freya

That's my problem, on every other computer I upload to, this option works. I use the same procedure on this laptop and none of my new uploads appear when I select Media, photos, iPhoto. The new content is unavailable for selection to upload.

  • Can not open Camera Raw in Bridge CS4, or see thumbnails

    MacBook Pro
    OS 10.5.5
    Photo Shop CS4 version 11
    Camera Raw 5.2.0.65
I had another version of Camera Raw from PS3. When I bought the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, I deleted the old camera raw plug in, so as to not conflict with the new camera raw plug in.
When I open PS4, click Photoshop, click about plug in, ONLY one version of Camera Raw comes up.
In OS 10, when I click GO at the top, then applications, then Adobe Photoshop CS4, then Plug Ins, then File Formats, I get two Camera Raw icons: a blue lego like icon that says "Camera Raw.plugin" and another icon that looks like the Macintosh HD icon, but is labeled "CameraProfiles.dmg"
The problem is that I can't open files in Camera Raw when in Bridge CS4, nor can I see the little photo thumbnails either.
    Can someone please help?
    Desperate in NYC.

The Photoshop folder is NOT the correct location for the Camera Raw plug-in, since several versions of Photoshop.
The correct location, is, as described in the readme and in the FAQ of this very forum [hint]:
Mac: [root of your hard disk, NOT your user folder's library]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS4/File Formats/

  • Can't see full picture in photobook only the thumbnail on page view

I made a photo book of my wedding and everything looked good. Then one day i opened it up to look at it and order the book and now all i can see for one of the pictures is the thumbnail at the top of the screen. It does not show up in the main view of the book and if i double click on the picture it goes to full screen and i see it for a split second then it dissapears to black. If I do a preview of the book that whole page of the book just shows up as a blank page.

    d_b:
What has happened is the iPhoto database file has been damaged/corrupted somehow. It can happen if the user has renamed or moved any files or folders inside the iPhoto Library from the Finder or if there's been some sort of interruption while iPhoto is writing to that file. Since you're already tried rebuilding the library unsuccessfully, I believe your only option is to create a new library and import the Originals folder from the old one as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the rolls from the original.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same rolls as the original library. However dates on the rolls may be different but can be edited as you would the roll title.
Once this is completed you can delete the Originals folder from the desktop and the iPhoto Llibrary folder. If desired, you can keep the older library folder to try other fixes on it.
In the future I recommend you make a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto file after each import and after doing a lot of editing and organizing in the library. Then if you experience a similar crash all you need to do is replace the damaged database file with the backup copy and you'll be back to the same place in the library as when you make the backup. See the tip at the end of my signature.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
