Can't see titles in dvd slideshow

My image titles are being cut off by the tv screen when I play a dvd burned with iDVD. All of my images are verticals/portraits and I formatted them in iPhoto for a 4:3 presentation. I exported them to iDVD, used the "Line" template with the moving filmstrip style dropzones. I suspect it has something to do with the 720x480 QT formatting that's built in there somewhere (shouldn't it be 640x480?). Right now I'm trying a 16:9 format, but it still looks as if the slide titles are right at the left edge of the tv screen and will be barely visible as before. I really dont want to have to go through a bunch of extra steps such as exporting to QTP, reformatting, etc. but I need the titles to show, so I'm desperate.
Will iMovie show titles in a slide show there?
Thanks!
Jim

Beverly,
Thanks for the info, I'm sure I will use it in the future. However, manually adding the info to each image isn't really an option. We have a rather large wedding coming up and rather than going through the routine of printing contact sheets for the client to order from, we thought we'd take a fancier approach and make a "video contact sheet"- essentially a slide show with the image numbers showing on-screen and the client could choose the images she wants from there. Unfortunately only the last 2 digits of the file number will show up on a 4:3 television or even when I formatted the show using the 16:9 option in iPhoto and changing the dvd player to "widescreen". I haven't played the widescreen version on my hdtv to see what happens.
I'm thinking of exporting the show as a Quicktime movie at 320x240 then bringing it into iDVD to see if that will work.
Thanks!
Jim

  • IDVD can't see my external dvd burner

Any idea how can i make iDVD 04 to see my external dvd burner?

    Hi Milton:
iDVD prior to Version 5 requires an internal drive, but I assume you know that hence your question.
You need this "Easter Egg" hack to make it work.

  • How can I add titles to a slideshow?

When I do a slide shows using iPhoto 6 I would like to find a way of adding titles to the individual slides as it can be easy done in iMovie. Thus far I wasn't be able to find an intelligent way to do it. In the slideshow settings titles can be added but they appear in black at the edge of the slides and there is no way to change the font sizes, colors, or location on the slide.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do ? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Use iMovie for the job. There is no way to customise the display on iPhoto.

  • Can not see title bar

I am not able to see the title bar. I have Firefox 16.01. I have Android 4.03. This is a fresh install. Has not been visible since installation. I can not find an option to turn this on or off in the settings.

<s>Starting in Firefox 4, the default UI is an orange Firefox button and page titles only on tabs. When you maximize the browser, the tabs slide up into the title bar.</s>
<s>If you prefer the more traditional style, you can switch on the classic menu bar as follows:</s>
<s>Alt+v (opens classic View menu) > Toolbars > Menu Bar</s>
''Edit: Whoops, that's for desktop Firefox.''

  • My MBP can't see blank CD/DVD's. Is it a common problem?

    Hi,
I have installed Lion recenlty. Was trying to burn some files on a CD/DVD today and it was a surprise. My MacBook doesn't see a blank disc.
I've tried a 'complete erase' in the Disk Utility, but it doesn't see the disc either.
Does anyone know what could that be?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Try this... click on a clear space on your Desktop so you see "Finder" in the Menu... then from the Menu click Finder/Preferences. Make sure the top 3 boxes are checked and close the window.
Insert a disk. If the Memorex disk does not mount on the Desktop, try a different Media. Sony, Verbatim, or Maxell.

  • Can't see video on dvd only audio

I do not get video when I play my dvd only audio.  I played this exact dvd yesterday and it was fine.  I also played it on my t.v. and it played fine.  Any ideas?

    Hi
Brand of DVD used - matters
    Type of DVD - also matters - DVD-R or DVD+R or DVD+/-RW ?
BURN SPEED - Matters GREATLY - Best IS NOT BEST - I never go faster than x4 - most often use x2
So please tell - What You used - as this matters to a great extent.

  • Why I can not see any home video or slideshow on my Apple TV?

Why I can not see any video or slideshow on my Apple TV?

Can you elaborate on the issue?

  • Can you make captions for a slideshow?

can you make captions for a slideshow? otherwise how can i rename the photo so that i can select view titles in the slideshow and use it as a caption?

    Jim lo:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can't make captions with iPhoto. You can edit the title of a photo by selecting it and then going to the Info window at the bottom of the Source pane, the "i" button, clicking on the title field and enter what text you'd like.
If you plan on using the slideshow in iDVD then those titles will not show as they will be lost in the "overscan" area that is common to all movies played on TV. You can create the slideshow in iMovie and have lots of control over titles and subtitles and greater control of the audio track, cut, fade in/out, etc.

  • PSE 9 Locking Up while Creating DVD/Slideshows

I recently installed PSE9 (& Premier).  Everything seemed to work fine.  I have been editing a few photos and even created a video DVD.  All of a sudden, each time I try to create a new product (slideshow, dvd, greeting card) PSE9 locks up.  Sometimes have to go to task manager to close the program others I can close it directly in PSE after waiting a few minutes, however it will not move forward trying to create a dvd or slideshow.  I can still edit without any problems, I just can't create a the DVD/Slideshows.
Any ideas?  I am new to PSE so I am hopeful I can "reset" something.
    Any and all help appreciated.

I forgot to mention...I am running windows / vista if this matters.
    Thanks,

  • How do I create my own favorite template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. I am directed straight to templates, which take more memory. I have a large slideshow, and need all the space I can get

First, how do I create my own favorite theme template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. I am directed straight to already existing themes, which take more memory. I have a large slideshow, and need all the space I can get. I just want to use a picture as my DVD cover, and then insert a slideshow. Also, when I try to burn my 8.5gb double sided slideshow, all that burns is the music. It is a large slideshow, a memorial on the life of my now deceased brother. This means a lot to me and to my family, and I am having so much trouble trying to burn it. I have gone into Project View and selected appropriately. The bar shows I have room to burn this DVD, but it does not burn.  I have burned so many DVDs in the past, but this one just will not burn. I am so confused at this point. I will say this is the first 8.5gb I have attempted to create and burn. My specs list a 7.7gb or 4.7gb as operable....but there are no 7.7gb dvds. I had to purchase 8.5gb. Help? What am I doing wrong? I have spent so much time on this, and just cannot figure it out.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor.  The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow.  It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them.  You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version).  Personal preferences showing here.

  • HT5557 Is it possible to display the title of the book or PDF when viewing them in the library? I can only see a title if my PDF's first page contains the title.

I would like to be able to display the title of the PDF or book while in library mode. In iTunes, you can click and hold on the song to get the full title information. I would like to see the same feature in iBooks if it doesn't already exist.

You can omit the title altogether in the URL (together with the succeeding slash, of course). For example, my own podcast URL in the Store is
    https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-sound-of-78s/id166389425?mt=2
    but this works perfectly well:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/id166389425
Indeed you can even put your own title:
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/any_old_title/id166389425
So it's as simple as that!

  • How can I see the bitrate while playing a DVD?

(I posted that also on the DVD Studio Pro page, but there I got an advice that points to a professional and expensive tool - Digigami's 'Mpressionist'. Maybe here someone can help me with a simpler sollution. I will post on both sides potential sollutions.)
So, I have a DVD encoded with variable bitrate, and I want to see the bitrate while playing the movie. In QuickTime I can see only the "global" bitrate, not the one of the actual scene.
    Thanks.

For the moment I got only that:
    - MPressionist, a very nice tool, but very expensive too;
    - MacDVDBitrateParanoia that displays the bitrate of the whole DVD as a graph, but not while the DVD plays, so I can not see the relation between complexity of a scene and the bitrate.

After burning a successful DVD in iDVD out of FCPX, how can I see the settings it used?
So I finally burned a DVD out of a Apple Pro Res file into iDVD in PAL format. My question now is how can I find out what the exact burn properties were so that I can apply the same burn properties to a project in Compressor 4?
Is it possible to see what iDVD did?

I don't know any way you can interrogate iDVD to reveal settings to the extent that you can in a Compressor project. What you could do is open up the show's VOB in MPEG STreamclip, go to File and Reveal Stream Information; that will at least give you some rudimentary info like average bit rate. Perhaps someone, with more iDVD experience, can chime in here.
The broader question is why use Compressor at all if your current workflow is doing the job to your satisfaction?
The value of Compressor is that it gives you control over the many parameters that affect size quality.  and playability. The Compressor presets can give you a starting point for DVD delivery, Web, etc. From those presets, people typically experiment by adjusting the parameters until they get the desired results for their specific show. It's a little bit science and a little bit art. After experimenting, you may be able to get slightly better quality for the project you've successfully burned in iDVD by using Compressor and something likeToast…or maybe not.
    Good luck.

  • How can i see the callers special information like Job Title, Company name, and may be notes?

I need to see the caller’s  special infos in call screen.  Like Company name, Job Title?
Please dont say me, “put these info to name&surname field”, because that, i’m useing Outlook Contact and i cannot change it.
I tried some special programs like (Call Screen (caller id Screen) prog: https://itunes.apple.com/tr/app/call-screen-caller-id-screen/id446742417?l=tr&mt =8 ) but it changes the persons picture but it not refresh itself, if i change info.
Lots of people asked same question but there is no any exact answer.
I think it must be a metbod for the seeing this special info in call screen.
Oldest Nokia and Blackberry model phone shows  this info, More smart phone iPhone can shows it i think. Please show me, how can i see this infos in call screen.

Other than finding an App to do what you want, or putting the info in the name field, you can't, as this is not a feature of the stock iOS.

  • How can I see the entire "title" of a page (now truncated)?

I see that Firefox is now truncating the "title" of web pages. I cannot see any good reason for this because the space to the right of the title is blank. I think it was done in the "do anything to make changes to Firefox" department but in this case it is not an improvement and provides the user with less information.
How can I fix the browser so I can again see the entire "title" as provided by the web page designer? I don't want to take extra steps (if any) to see it. I want it to display automatically each time.

That is on the tab. A tab has a maximum width because otherwise a long title would cover the full tab width.
You can make the Windows title bar visible again in the open the customize window via the 3-bar Firefox menu button (Customize is at the bottom left).<br />
There you will find the choice to have the title bar visible.
