Can't see tooltips anymore

Until a short while ago I could see a "tooltip" - a display of a name or shortcut, when my cursor was over any given button. I ensured "show tooltips" or somesuch was checked in General tab in User Preferences, but no dice. Thanks for any help.

First place I'd go is to trash your prefs. Go to fcprescue.andersholck.com and download the version appropriate to your version of FCP and use it.

I did not format the drive. I was using it as purchased to do backups for a while. After the corporate backup system was working correctly again I was using the disk at home for my homevideos. Since the corporate backup was running correctly for ten days in a row, I have decided to delete those backupfiles on the usb drive. Each backup was a folder consisting of almost 30GB data, mirroring the servers harddrive which is running on windows xp. After I have deleted those folders, only the video files remaind and I could not open the drive on the macmini anymore.

I don't know what happenned but I can't see my video anymore... They all became a white square with a X inside... It does the same thing if I import a new video. I tried uninstalling everything but it didn't work, I have Adobe presenter 9, I tried it on another computer with Adobe Presenter 8 and it worked, can someone help me, please ?

I can send you the file but actually it does that with any file. If I make a new one, i have the same problem, but I save it and try it on another computer that has adobe presenter 8 and it worked. It used to work but now it doesn't, it's really weird. I never had problem but I installed Presenter 9 today and it worked fine this morning but stoped to work fine in afternoon. I really don't understand.
If I import the file, I can see the preview but once in ppt, it give me a white square. It's weird because I only opened the program again and the problem suddenly appears...

Can't see forms anymore in adobe reader for iPad.

Nevermind I solved my own problem. I can see there has already been alot of people viewing this question. So I'm going to post what I already posted as a discussion as a reply here.
I'm not a computer wize and very new to Adobe and creating forms with LiveCycle. So apologize to anyone that reads this and says "duh", but hopefully it will be helpful to someone out there who is struggling like I was.
First off - the IPad will will definitely be able to view your livecycle forms regardless of what anyone else says! These were my steps;
1. Create form in LiveCycle Designer.
2. When you save, select "save as"
3. When the dialogue box opens, and you are creating the name of what you are going to call your file, below you will see a drop down box labeled "Save As Type". Make sure you switch the file type to "Adobe Static PDF Form (*.pdf)"
And that's it!
Here is another tip for a user like me:)
I need to create a form to post to a website, where people fill it in and save it to their computers. I found that when I just saved the form straight from LiveCycle Designer and then posted, some of the free adobe versions (for PC's) wouldn't let the user fill it in. So this is what I did,
1. Follow the first 3 steps I listed above.
2. Next open Adobe (the full version) not the reader. I have Adobe X.
3. Got to "Save As". It will give you a bunch of options. Select "Reader Extended PDF" and then "Enable Additional Features"
Add that should be it!
One more tip for the average to low level user. We had some feedback that when someone open my form in the iPad app. they were not able to fill it in. They could, but what they didn't realize was they needed to select the icon at the top that is a little picture of a speech bubble and pencile.

Snow Leopard Parental Controls and iChat (Can't see iChat anymore)

I enabled Parental Controls on my daughters profile. I left applications to unrestricted access, and unrestricted access to web sites (but I still review the log)... I selected to LIMIT iChat and then added the people she can chat with (she's 8).
The problem is, it looks like iChat is online. It's in her dock. Has the little white light dot on underneath the app but I can't see the chat window. You know, where you actually double click on someone to chat with? What gives???
When I go to iChat preferences and on the Accounts tab, "enable this account" is not checked, but it's grayed out so I can't check it!!

It seemed to crop up in Leopard with the first Parental Controls and has yet to be "sorted" in Snow Leopard.
I tend to think it is because Parental Control Updates are out of Step with iChat ones but I have no real insight as to the cause.

Ibook can't see others anymore

Used to be able to see my G5 and all my external disks on my Ibook by simply connecting firewire cable between the two. Now nothing shows up anymore! FIreWire network connection is active on both with different IP addresses
I do see an alias of my G5 in the GO menu (network) of my Ibook but it tells me it doesn't find the G5 (can't find the original element)
And the G5 doesn't see the Ibook at all. In fact when i choose Network in the Go menu...nothing shows at all!
I've created a new Ethernet configuration and checked the Apple Talk box but I can only configure it manually...
Hum....must be doing something wrong
Any help ?

Can you describe your local network with some more detail? Is it possible that you are using DHCP to get IP addresses and you recently shut down two computers - so that they now received different IP addresses?
As long as we're learning about your local network, can you just tell us the IP addresses?

I can't see Safari anymore on Ipad. Where did it go or can I find it?

My son was playing with my ipad and next morning I couldn't find Safari anymore. Is it hidden somewhere?

If it is on another screen touch the icon and hold until the icon begins to "jiggle". You can then drag the icon back to where it should be.
If it is in a folder then touch the folder to open it and then do the above.
You should probably consult the iPad User Guide at http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/ipad_2_user_guide.pdf
There is also a copy of the User Guide installed on your iPad. See Safari bookmark, "iPad User Guide".

Can't see iMovie anymore

Hi everyone, when i bought my Macbook Pro 2011 it had Snow Leopard installed and it was included iMovie. I upgraded to Lion as soon as it was released and no problems. After a year, i decided to format my Macbook so i downloaded the OS and burned it to a dvd so i started from scratch but now i don't have iMovie anymore. What can i do? Did i lost it for ever? I have to buy it again? because when i look it up on the Appstore is avaliable only to buy.

by formatting you erased any content, incl apps, on your Mac
iMovie isn't part of an OS, but an individually sold app.
your options are:
• re-install from your Macs original installer disks
• re-install from an existing back-up
• purchase a new copy in AppStore

Try resetting the iPhone,
Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.

You need to enable the display for metadata in Browser and Viewer.
There are several places how whereyou can turn it on; for example, from the main menu bar "view" menu:
View > Metadata display > Viewer > Show Metadata
View > Metadata display > Browser > Show Metadata
You need to configure the Metadata shown in these overlays.
Use
View > Metadata display > Browser > Customize
Enable all tags you want in the left column of this panel. The "keyword" are enabled in the "Content" section of the left colum.

Can't see old backups on Time Machine

Originally, I noticed the issue when I went to do a backup and it failed because there was not enough space on the disk. Then I went to see if I could delete old backups. In Time Machine it shows today and one other backup, 6 days ago. It should be doing backups regularly. I have had the iMac and my external drive for years. I did update to Mavericks OS several months ago. That is the only change I can think of. I have seen older backups and used them before now. Not sure why I can't see them anymore and why it says my disk is full. Why isn't it deleting the old backups if it's full?
So I guess I have three main questions:
1 Why can't I see the old backups?
2 Why aren't the old files being deleted if it's full?
3 How can it be full if there is only one backup?

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes.) You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard."
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamp of the last "Starting" message that corresponds to the beginning of an an abnormal backup. Now
CLEAR THE WORD "Starting" FROM THE TEXT FIELD
so that all messages are showing, and scroll back in the log to the time you noted. Select the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ If all you see are messages that contain the word "Starting," you didn't clear the text field.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Can't see Source Files in Destination View

I added my executable to the [Program Files] / Dryness Fraction directory and a Help File to the [Public App Data] / Dryness Fraction directory in the Source Files -> Destination View window of my Installer.
However now I can't see them anymore and I can't seem to add them again either - which leads me to suspect that they are there, but are not being displayed for some reason (see Source Files_BAD.jpg attachment). I can for instance click on some other folder and the little blue transfer arrow is enabled allowing me to add say the Executable files to that particular folder.
What it should look like, in another Installer I did, is the attachment Source Files_GOOD.jpg
Is there a way I can refresh the View so that the files appear again?

Unfortunately, there isn't a refresh button in the installer builder. I believe you are right in thinking that the files have already been added.
Have you tried building another installer and see if you can replicate this issue? If you went through with the installer builder, could you see the files in the appropriate locations on the target machine after installation?
I would also recommend creating a new folder in Destinations. Then try to add the executable into the new folder in the Source File. Give that a shot and see if you can see your executable in the new folder. Please refer to the attached screen shots for more detail.

Can't see vm in ESX after patched with 127559-04

-install vda_1.0_solaris.zip
-download sun patch 138482-03, this patch contain vda-agent.msi and vda-tools.msi
-copy and install vda-agent.msi from patch 138482-03 into VirtualCenter server
-install vda-tools.msi in every xp vm machine
# /opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda-service stop
# /opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda-webadmin stop
-install sun patch 139548-01
-install sun patch 127559-04
# /opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda-service start

Before patched with 127559-04 and update vc agent using patch 138482-03, I can see vm in esx, but after upgrade I can't see vm at all.

yes. I mean in SVDC Virtual Machine tab
2. Can you ensure that the svdc VirtualCenter agent is correctly running ?
I can see in my Virtual Center services, Sun Virtual Desktop Connector Agent is started.
3. What agent status is reported when you look at Advanced Settings / Agent in the svdc admin. gui ?
In Advanced Settings-Agent, the agent Status shown Running. The version shown as 1.2
4. Did you update the svdc VirtualCenter agent or did you do an uninstall of the previous agent followed by a fresh install ?
We can't simply install, we have to uninstall old one and install new one.
The new one I got from patch 138482-03
5. If you did the latter, you will need to (re)configure the agent in the svdc admin. gui. ( to ensure the new agent certificate is imported ).
After I install patch 127559-04 in sunray server and 138482-03 in virtual center.
All server automatically disappear from Host & Cluster tab. I need to click Unconfigure and Start Configure again.
After reconfiguration, I can see VC in Host & Cluster tab, but not VM inside it.
INSTALLATION STEPS:

install sun patch 127559-04
# /opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda-service stop
# /opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda-webadmin stop

HT4314 Can't see anymore which games my friends are playing, always NONE PLAYED on iPad, wrong/old games on iPhone.

Since about a month I can't see anymore which games my friends are playing.
On the new iPad it always display: last game played, none.
On iPhone it shows wrong games for many.
On both the timeline is correct tough.
I thought it was a temporary thing but now it's more than a month and it's really annoying.
Any clue?
