Can't see video in the Canvas window

Something's just gotten turned off and I can no longer see an image in the Canvas window.
I can hear the audio as the sequence plays, but there's no video.
What's happened?

Just figured it out: "Wireframe" had gotten selected instead of "Image + Wireframe" (in the Canvas drop-down menu).

That could be the problem, I'm not using a graphic card and the resolution is 1920x1080 by 23.976 fps in fact when I play the video the little symbol of pc turns red
How do I change the settings so I can work? and when I use a different frame rate I need to change it on the preferences or it automatically set it?

Can't see video one the web, YouTube works fine.

Using Safari I can't see video, In CNN I get the message that Apple restrict the use of Flash Player, but in other sites, which do not use Flash player I can't see the video as well, for example- http://harim.tv/default.asp?categoryid=0&videoid=317&srchq=&page=1 . The same problem in different pages having video attached, in the window of the video there is a cube shape.
Is there an add-on to Safari that has to be installed to make it working?
I would like to add, YouTube is working fine.

What Video Codec are Your material formatted as ?
And the problematic Video sequence - Same Video Codec ?
Open each original movie sequense in QuickTime player
then press cmd+I (or open Inspector) and read
- Video formatted as : nnnnnnnnnnnnn
- Frames per second : YY.yy
What does they say for the material that works - AND for the movie that are troublesome ?

Can't see video on the internet?

What software am I missing that I can't view video on the internet? I've tried downloading windows media player, and now I don't see anything, nor while on the internet do I get a message as to what is needed. Please help this non-tech person!

First welcome to the discussions.
There are 4 Players that are used by developers depending on the Media they choose to include on there site.
(Realplayer)(Quicktime)(Macromedia)(Windows Media Player).
You may also need to check to see if you have the latest JAVA Update. Go to your Apple and then click on Software Update. Please be sure to read through this link before you do anything.

Bad Video in FCP Canvas Window. Normal?

When I am scrubbing through the Canvas Window, I am get lots of distorted video. I posted a couple of screen captures to my Mobile Me gallery as examples.

I am running a 27" Core i5 with 8 GB of RAM and 512 MB of video RAM.
I just recently upgraded to this current iMac from a '07 24" iMac. I did not have these issues with my old iMac, so now I am worried I may have a bad video card on my hands.
I have the most recent updates to FCP 7 installed.
Any ideas?

I have posted screen captures of my Sequence settings and clip properties in the gallery I linked to above.
I do not have exact answers yet for what is happening in the Viewer window or QuickTime Player. I tried scrubbing through a clip in the View window, but FCP crashed before I could see any results. I have not fully test QuickTime player yet.
I can add that this problem only seems to occur while scrubbing. Simply playing video in the Canvas window does not yield any bad results and everything looks fine.
Also, I moved all FCP folders and media to a different drive. That did not correct the issue.
And I have discovered that once the issues occurs I cannot render any video. Attempting to render video results in the message "Error! Out of memory.", which I assume is not a good sign.

Cannot read videos on the Canvas

Hi all!
I'm still getting used to FCE 4.0, but something bothers me: I can't read videos on the canvas screen. I either get sound an a blue screen with a "non rendu" (it's a French version), image, but no sound (get beeps) or the blue sreccn and the beeps.
What gives?

This happens if your clips do not match your sequence settings. What exactly are the item properties of your clips? What are the item properties of your sequence? When you put the first clip into the timeline, do you not get an option to change the sequence to match the clips? If that does not happen the clips are probably in a format that is not supported by FCE, but I'm only guessing without any real information.

All I see is bounding boxes in the Canvas window

I finally decided it was time I learned to use Motion.
I opened up a tutorial, but all I can see in the canvas window is bounding boxes, similar to wireframe mode in FCP and other programs.
If I make a RAM Preview, I can see the actual project - but the second I make an adjustment, I'm back to the wireframe.
Not useful.
I've done all the normal things - like trash the motion preferences.
What am I missing?

I fixed the problem. An earlier post with a similar problem fixed it by making their secondary video/graphic card the output for their main monitor.
I tried this and now everything works fine.
Weird

Multicam Edit/Can't See Video on Canvas

I'm doing a six-cam multicam edit. Everything was going perfect until my hand accidentally hit the keyboard. I don't know which key(s) I hit.
Not I can't see my video on the Canvas and my multiclips clips won't play in synch in the Viewer. I do hear the audio when I play the Timeline.
I opened another clip and it won't play. Nothing will play in the Canvas.
What the heck did I hit and how do I fix it? I'm working on a MacBook. All my video is on an external G Drive connected with a FireWire 800 cable.

Can't see video in canvas

I'm pretty new to this, so I appreciate any help in advance.
I have imported a clip. I can see it and hear it fine. I've made in & out edit points and can drag it around (copy it etc.) on the timeline.
But here's the odd thing... I can hear it when the and it appears in the timeline but NO video shows on the canvas - only audio...
I have no idea what's up.

Tom- thanks for responding and sorry for the typo... (ugh) I think I was maybe a little frustrated.
I imported the clip from my camera using Capture All (it was just a small 40-second clip, just to test that I had fixed the problem I was having with synch -- needed to re-set to 16-bit vs. 18-bit or vice versa.)
The weird thing was that when I cut the clip down and brought it over into the canvas, I could see that I had put the clip in the timeline and when I'd hit the space bar to play it, it would appear to be playing in the timeline and I could clearly hear the audio, but I could not see the video in the canvas.
In the end, I just re-started the program and re-did the edit and everything worked fine. I'm not sure if I wasn't making the edit right, or ??? Like I said, I'm still really new to this program and I think I may have missed a step. I don't think it was a computer or camera error, more an operator error.

Cannot see video on my canvas, just hear the audio

I do not know how this happened, I been working on layers, moved v1 up to v2 when doing layer and all of sudden, I double-click on the timeline to see it in the canvas, and I just hear the audio and do not see the video. I did some research and they said to delete my preference plist list and user of final cut express, and i almost had a heart attack, I lost everything, hours of work. Fortunately, I went back to the trash to retrieve and I had my video.
I am working on a video for a dear friend, daughter's party.

Where are you saving your project files? It sounds as if you deleted the wrong files. Trashing preferences does not require trashing any folders that can contain project files or media. If you're trashing a folder, you're sending the wrong items to the trash.

TS4062 I can't see videos I have taken on my ipad either in iCloud or when I sync my ipad to my macbookpro (both are up to date) I can only see photos? The videos are only few seconds long?

I can't see videos i have taken on my ipad in the iCloud all synced as i can see the still photos i have taken but not the videos. The videos are only a few seconds long. I have also tried syncing via USB cable from iPad to my Macbookpro and it wont sync either the photos or the videos in iTunes I have re checked the sync set up in itunes bt still nothing?
Any ideas would be appreciated

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

You can attach to your computer with iTunes and backup the iPhone, provided you do not need to use a passcode...then you will be stuck if the screen is not visible and unresponsive.

Ios6 update has done something to you tube icon and now I can't see videos. Flash player required message and a black bar appears when scrolling. Any ideas? I've booked an appointment at the Genius Bar next Saturday but don't want to waste their time

YouTube is not now part of iOS 6. However, you can download the YouTube app at http://itunes.apple.com/app/youtube/id544007664.
