Can't seem to capture video clip

I just upgraded from Final Cut Express HD to Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD. I'm using a Sony DCR-TRV320 as the pass thru between my VCR and my Mac. Using Final Cut Express, I have no problem capturing my video. But in FCP, I can view the video on my screen until I click Capture Now. The screen for that is black. The only message I see is 'Waiting for Timeline'. Do I need to do things differently in FCP than FCE?

Is it possible the error message is "waiting for time
code"?
What are you capturing from. If it's a non time code
source (EG. VHS) you'll have to switch to
"non-controlable device" in FCP Device Control
Presets.

Yeah, I meant to say time code. Thanks, I just tried it while I was in a hurry and didn't even remember that I had not gone into the preferences.

How can I capture video clips from my own DVD's or You Tube type of media, I am trying to create a presentation using Key Note

As long as you are using the clips with copyright permission (the organisation I work for has this for some distributers) try Wondershare (I am sure other converters are available). You can install an extension for Safari (I use FastestTube 2.2.9.3) to download from YouTube. However, please be aware that you could be breaking copyright laws when so doing.

  • Can I record a we video clip ?

Can I record a wee video clip using i photo?

    Hi
Run your mouse along the Dock. Do you see Photo Booth? If you do launch it. You should now be looking at yourself. Below the main window is a section that has 3 icons to the left. One of the icons looks like a small clip of film. Click on this. The Icon in the middle (the red one) turns into a what I think looks like a film camera icon rather than a camera icon. Click on this. You'll now get a countdown of 3 seconds. A timer display will appear to the left of the moving screen. When you've recorded enough click the middle icon again to stop recording. A file of the clip you've just captured will appear in the bottom panel.
Click and hold this clip and drag it to the desktop. Quit out of Photo Booth. Launch your preferred mail application and add the movie clip as an attachment.
Your only problem I can see is making sure you keep file sizes down as most ISPs will limit attachment sizes to 15MBs or less. A 1 minute video clip using Photo Booth is approx 3.5MBs.
That's as simple as I can make it.

  • Need to capture video clip from local news story site.

Does anyone know of a way to capture video clip from an online source for adding to iMovie.
The clip I would like to get is a piece done locally and added to a local news site.

Video on the web can be in many forms - most of which aren't easy to download.
What I do, is use SnapzProX from http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/
This lets you capture video (and audio) from your computer screen.
I have seen FLVR mentioned as a way to capture Flash video, but haven't tried it yet. ( http://www.tastyapps.com )
To get the best quality, you can probably buy a tape of the clip from the station at a 'reasonable' price.

In the iMovie 11 event library, how can I get the iPhoto video clips to combine with my camcorder pics listed below and in chronological order?

Try forcing iPhoto to load the Library on the External Hard drive by launching it while holding down the Option key. Choose the Library on the External HD, and quit iPhoto, see if iMovie can see the Library with the iPhoto Videos contained inside.

  • How to see the captured video clips in finder?

The project file is like a folder, where the capture video clips are inside, but how to open the folder to use captured clips in Final Cut Express?

    Thanks!
I found another way too, to do it: ctrl + click the project icon and choose from the menu "Show package content" which opens the folder that looks similar to earlier iMovie folders with Media and cache folders.

  • How can i rewind Or forward video clip in Nokia 62...

How can i rewind Or forward video clip in Nokia 6230i. plz help me out. thanx in advance.
    Haris

    Hello.
Fast forwarding and rewinding video on the 6230i is not possible as far as I remember with experience with several Series 40 phones. The proprietary Nokia OS runs a multimedia player incapable of doing this feature. I also have never heard of a certain compatible Java-based media player application which can do this. Maybe the architecture of Series 40 does not support advanced software features allowing this. However if you really want to watch using your phone, you cannot be able to fast forward or rewind.
    Cheers.
PS:I am not really sure about this though; just a quick opinion. How about some ideas from other 6230i users?
The world might be a better place if you were I.

Theres a program called Bluestacks app player which when installed gives you an Android enviroment to be able to download apps etc and use/play them on a Pc from this you can then install an app which can create a backup of the app in apk format for transfer to a mobile or tablet etc for installation via your file manager app

  • Why can I no longer capture DV clips?

I can no longer capture DV clips that are useable. Is it a wrong setting or maybe bad hardware?
I'm logging and capturing clips as DV anamorphic (downconverted by my deck from HDV), and when I play back the captured clip, the image in the viewer isn't moving (at least not very much; a series of freeze frames, really). When I expand the browser window, I notice that the data transfer rate for the clip is only around 300 k/sec, whereas previously capture DV clips weigh in at 3.6 MB/sec. I know 300 k/sec is around the rate for RT Offline clips - but there is no evidence that the offending clips are RT Offlined. I've spent ten hours in the program and in the manual, trying to figure out how to correct this.
I also opened the captured clips in QuickTime, and then used "Movie Inspector" to determine that the clips as captured are bad; in other words, it's not just a playback problem. A healthy DV clip reads out at 30.31 mbits/sec; my bad clips are reading 2304 kbits/sec, or 2805 kbits/sec, etc. The FPS for the problem clips read 0.81, 1.20, etc., whereas the healthy DV clips read, of course, 29.97.
Oh, here are some other peculiarities: it takes longer than usual to complete the capture -- 10 seconds or so past the end timecode reading. And it always gives me the warning that there was broken time code in the sequence. And, it appears that audio track 2 is out of sync -- a several seconds later than audio track 1.
And recently, there's variation to the problem, where the first couple of seconds of the captured clip are a series of quick freeze frames; then, the rest of the clip is entirely black, with only the audio apparent.
I'm beginning to think it may be a hardware issue. It's not the deck, or the firewire cable, or the firewire port. I've switch them all out with the same result. I've trashed FCPro preferences and then reset them, with no improvement. I even reformatted by drive, re-installed the OS, and installed a different version of FCPRO. Same results
    Any ideas?

Sorry for any inconvenience; I'm new to the discussion process. And sorry for the delay in responding; I've been away and unable to follow through.
I'm still having the same problem.
I've tried two decks: Sony HDV HVR-M25U in downconvert mode; JVC BR-DV600U. Plus, I've tried my camera, Sony Z1U, also in downconvert mode.
The only other devices on the firewire bus are firewire hard drives -- essential to the operation.
I've tried Mac OSX 10.4.6 and Mac OSX 10.4.10. I've tried FCPRO versions 5 and 6.
It did not stop working after any updates or change in software.
I reset the capture to Easy Preset for DV with no success.
I didn't trash the preferences; but I did erase the disc and completely re-install the software -- twice.
My G5 does do one other strange thing. If I have the computer "sleep" mode activated, and the computer goes to sleep -- I can't wake it up for a couple of hours. I think that's a heat-related thing; this is the G5 that has 7 fans (or is it 9?). And I hear you can't start G5s if the sensors decide one of the processors is over-heated. If I shut off the computer, the same thing happens; I have to wait a couple of hours. My present workaround is that I just leave the computer on all day (deactivate the "sleep" option), and it seems to work fine -- unless this capture problem is somehow related.
I'm going to try to capture DV footage using iMovie -- once I get my hands on a version that works with Tiger. This might indicate whether this problem is software-or-hardware based. I'll update this message thread once I've been able to do this test.
Thanks for any further thoughts you might have!

  • New and stupid. I need to capture video clips and play them on an iPad2.

I've been searching the internet for hours and I can't find an easy way to do this.  I am working on a project for my boss so this is crucial.
I have three large video files.  I need to several capture portions of each video and get them onto his iPad so he can view them.
The video files are currently in .asf format.  I downloaded Windows Live Movie Maker and can edit the videos in that program, but I cannot convert them into a proper format with this program.  So, I found a program online that will convert the clips into mpeg4 format.  I can convert them, view and play them in iTunes but I can't transfer them to his iPad.
Personally, I have an iPhone 4 and I am fairly computer literate so I have an understanding of the iPad and can function quite well on my computer.  But, I just can't get this to work.
    Please help.

I am sorry about the VLC suggestion. They do have an Ipad version(http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ios.html) but probably for Jailbroken units only.
In my defense of poor research i have to say that some time ago it was actually possible to download it from the app store which is why i have VLC on my old Ipod.
If you have to convert i can recommend "handbrake" which is actually a free ripper but it will convert many file formats into predefined settings for different gadgets amongst them Ipad.

  • Can I Block Saving of Video Clips?

I have video clips (MOV files) on a website which icons in a PDF that I built can link to and open (to clarify: the icons are actually just virtual boxes around icon pictures that were in the Word doc from which it was built). Usually, the MOV files open in a web page (that's good enough), and the user can right click on them and save them (that's bad); note: my default browser is Foxfire.
However, I notice that if I have MS Internet Explorer open (but only if I have it actually open), the MOV files open in their own Quicktime window (good!), and the user cannot click on them and save them (great!). Is there any way I can force this desired behavior when I build the PDF?
(Note that the consumers of the PDF will have it resident on their local PC.)
    Thanks for your help!

I have just learned (as a side issue consulting with a godaddy.com tech) that this is a function of the user's browser and how it's configured. So it seems I can do nothing from within Acrobat to force the behavior I desire. However, according to this tech, SWF files are harder to simply save to the users hard drive. (Doubtless anything can be hacked, but these not sophisticated users, and I intend to remove the restriction later anyway.)
So... is there a way to convert MOV's to SWF's?  I notice that lots of products on the web claim to do that, but are there any you would recommend, not only as one capable converting MOV to SWF with little loss of information, but as most likely safe (i.e., not be a hidden way to deliver malware)?
    Thanks.

  • Can my iSight camera capture video?

there must be an easy way to do this, but can't seem to figure it out...I want to capture video using the iSight camera on my iMac.
Which application do I use to do this...example of what I'm trying to do:
I'd like to record a video of my playing my guitar.
How do I enable the camera to capture the video?
    Thanks!!

Well I am replying to this thread because there is not, as far as I can see, a way to post a new thread. In any case, I have connected many times with a friend in Japan via Skype and using video with iSight. Without any changes, at least that I can remember, using Skype on both my laptop and desktop computers, neither sees my iSight camera now. Both used to see the iSight camera. I see the camera's light come on when I plug it in, but no connection. Anyone have an idea about why this is happening?
