Can't seem to delete keyboard tapping

I'm trying to edit a captivate project that was recorded with
keyboard tap and mouse click sounds. I'd like to remove these from
the edited/published version. I don't seem to be able to turn off
keyboard tap sounds, despite unchecking the "play tap audio" box in
the Edit/prefererences/project/settings. Suggestions?

Hey JazzPiano, welcome to the community.
If you are using Captivate 3, then you should be able to
right click the typing effect in the timeline and convert that to a
text animation that can be edited in turn to the "typing" effect as
opposed to "Typing with sound".

  • Phony USPS exe file. Now can't seem to delete downloads.

I opened a phony email from USPS saying something was not deliverable and asking me to "Print Label." This downloaded an execute file 11 pages of computer programming text. Now I can't seem to delete downloads. How do I delete a download? Or, do I have a bigger problem? Jack.

There shouldn't be any harmful consequences because .exe files aren't even compatible with Macs (they're for Windows), they will always show up as script in TextEdit. So in the future don't even bother downloading .exe files, just stop the downloads if you see they are .exe because it's a waste of time and hard drive space.

  • Can't seem to delete previous user's account.

Hey everyone, I bought a second hand MacBook Pro 5.5. Beautiful thing. I managed to make myself the admin and am now currently logged in as so. But I can't seem to delete the previous user's standard account. When I try to do so in preferences (accounts) and click "OK" it just freezes over. What to do?
    Thanks in advance!

You need to use the Original system Reinstall Discs that the previuos owner sent with the system to wipe the drive and reinstalll OS X and iLife apps. Until you do that that Mac will always be tied to the origiinal owners name in some way. Once the OS is installed and started for the first time and someone input there name and other details it will always be there someplace.
The only way to completely remove it is to erase or repartition the drive and do a clean fresh install of OS X.
Then when you start it for the first time and input your info, Name and whatever, it will then be tied to you.
If the previous owner did not send you those discs you can order a replacement set from Apple for a small charge.
    You Need Those Discs.

  • Can't seem to create keyboard shortcuts

I have just purchased a Mac mini and am brand new to Apple so I presume I am running 10.6.2 but if more info is required you may need to direct me a little. My old PC died and I was sold the Mac mini as a drop-in replacement that could use my new screen / keyboard.
I am unable to work out how to create a keyboard shortcut e.g., to associate the 'Home' key with 'Go to beginning of line.' I can get into System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Keyboard & Text Input OK. Clicking on the plus sign (Add an application shortcut) beneath the lists brings down the sub-panel with Application | Menu Title | Keyboard Shortcut OK.
The problem is that I can only enter keys from the numeric keypad and arrow key cluster in the Keyboard Shortcut field, but nothing from the main section of the keyboard or the Ins / Del / Home / End / PgUp / PgDn cluster. Not letters, or numbers, or any other keystrokes that I can tell. I just get the system bell.
It is a new Logitech keyboard which I set to US International layout as I work with accented character sets. Any assistance appreciated.

You wouldn't be able to define that specific shortcut anyway. Try using Control-B (Off the top of my head; this page has a full list of them) to move to the beginning of a textfield / line.

  • I am trying to export a Pages document to a pdf, and a tiny black rectangle with a small white circle keeps showing up. I can't seem to delete it in my pages document. help!

I am using Pages, 5.2.2., on a MacBook Air, system 10.9.5., and I have a formatting question. I am making a small brochure, and it seems like in some places for reasons unknown, when I have a return, there's a small black-filled rectangle, about the size of one letter, with a small white circle inside of it appearing. I want to get rid of that little symbol. I keep trying to press delete, but then I lose my return/spacing. (Can you tell I'm a brute beginner?) Help! And thanks!

It sounds like you are using a Chinese font.
Use something else eg Times or Helvetica or any European font.
If the character disappears, its the font.

  • Can't seem to delete frames in Flash movie.

    Hi,
I'm very new to Flash. I've imported an .flv movie into a job, on the stage. I want to get rid of a lot of the first frames, about 180 of them. Why can't I delete them using a right-click and choosing "remove frames?" Nothing seems to go. The movie's still starting at the same place all the time.
    Thanks,
    Peter

I think you are right. That is what happens. You can't "edit" an FLV file this way. The frames are deleted, but that just means you won't see the end of your video!
Generally it isn't a good idea to import the video to the stage and play it back in this manner it can cause memory managment issues and other stuff.
It is usually a better idea to use either the playback component or your own code to dynamically "stream" the file.
Also if you want to edit out the first 180 frames you should open the source video, edit it, and re-export to a FLV.
If you can't do any of the "best practice" things. You could embed the FLV in a MovieClip say myMovie and then use code like:
    myMovie.gotoAndPlay(181);
or whatever. But the file size will still include the 180 frames of content and there are likely to be other problems when looping and replaying and stuff like that.

  • Can't seem to delete Divx from my Macbook Pro

    Hey everyone,
So awhile ago I was looking for a media player and downloaded Divx plus, not realizing that it wasn't actually as versatile as the Vlc player. Now after having downloaded VLC and now having no need for Divx i tried to uninstall and remoce the app entirely but it seems like I just deleted the shortcuts to it (forgive me this is my first time removing anything with my mac). Now the dumb application is still there prompting me to install updates and generally being a nuiscance and taking up CPU. I REALLY want this thing gone. Like now.
Would anyone be able to give me a step by step instruction on how to remove the stupid thing before I try to rip it out?
    Cheers!

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

  • I put music in my playlist, but I can't seem to delete when I'm tired of it if there is a gear next to it. How do I do it?

I need to know how to delete something from two of my playlists.  They both have gears next to the playlist name.
Can I delete music from my ipod completely?
    Thanks

It looks like the article below has the information you are looking for.
    iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
Note:   If you delete your iCloud account, iCloud will no longer back up your iOS data. You can still back up your device in iTunes (for more information, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Help).
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 and you turn off iCloud, your calendar information and reminders aren’t stored locally in iCal. If you want to retain your calendar and reminder information, you need to back it up before turning off iCloud. For more information, see the Apple Support article iCloud: Calendar & reminder data removed from Calendar and Reminders or iCal when disabling iCloud Calendar.
On your Windows computer, open the iCloud Control Panel, then click Sign Out.
Note:   If you turned on automatic download of music, app, or book purchases (in iTunes preferences or in Settings on your iOS device), your iTunes purchases are still downloaded to your devices.
Set up iCloud on your devices

  • I suddenly have 2 people i never met and don't know showing up as 'shared' on my computer.  this may have happened when i visited the genius bar with wifi but i can't seem to delete these 2 strangers.

I visited the genius bar at my mac store two weeks ago and now I notice two people I don't know are showing up as SHARED on my computer.  This is really disturbing to me as I don't know if these people have access to my computer.  Could this have happened because of the WIFI at the computer store?  There are so many people there at once could it be this accidentally happened?  AND HOW DO I GET RID OF THESE SHARED PEOPLE?  I've tried to find a way to delete them but I can't find anything that allows that.  Also can't 'drag' them to the trash.  PLEASE HELP.  Thanks.

They don't have any access to your computer. They were picked up on your Wi-Fi. If they are not currently being detected, then hold down the COMMAND key and drag the entries out of the sidebar.

  • I mistakenly downloaded the explicit version of a song and now can't seem to delete it.  I've put the file in the trash, I've deleted it in my music library but everytime I sync my phone to my computer it reappears.  Help!  This is so frustrating.

I purchased an explicit version of a song by mistake.  I then went back on line and purchased the clean version.  I've deleted it from my itunes library but when I sync it with my phone, it reappears.  How do I remove it permanently?  It almost seems like what's on my phone is what appears on my computer and not the other way around.
    Help!

For most things that's true, but purchases are the exception.

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file ''cookies.sqlite'' that stores the cookies is corrupted.
You can rename (or delete) '''cookies.sqlite''' (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete '''cookies.sqlite-journal''' and '''cookies.txt''', if they exist, in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • I can't seem to delete pictures from iPhoto

    please help

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )
