Can't Select Any Transitions in Sequence

... even cross dissolves that I just applied. I suspect it has something to do with the sequence being nested elsewhere. I am currently working in the original sequence though and need to modify some transitions.

Boy do I feel like a dweeb... I was trying to select with the pen tool. I knew it was something simple, but that's embarrassing. Thank you Tom! You saved me again!

I have tried to select one of the suggestions that google give me for my search but FF it wont let me. I have type everything out in full. I hate FF4 it is rubbish. I loved firefox before this one came out but now I am seriously thinking of going over to google chrome.

One of the reasons I abandoned Chrome in favour of Firefox was due to the "black band of doom" that appears on the top of the Google page - so setting up my homepage to google.co.uk just puts that back in the ugly spotlight.
I was, though, pleasantly surprised to see a Google search bar on the Mozilla Firefox Start Page (without the black band and Google options that I am just not interested in) but bitterly disappointed that it is Google.fr (due to my ISP being French).
I shall learn to live with Yahoo (or worse case scenario, Bing!)

Can't load any transitions in Premiere Elements 10

OK. I know this is a newbie question, but so be it.
Just installed my brand-new boxed version of Elements 10, Windows 7, 64-bit version, and I can't get any of the transitions to load. Get the perpetual hourglass symbol when I try to enter the transitions section from either the pulldown menu or the screen list. The entire section seems stuck. Am able to open all of the effects, titles, and themes, and find media clips. Just can't get any of the fades, dissolves, or other transitions to even show up on the screen, much less actually click and drag any of them into the timeline. Do I need to re-install of the entire prrogram?
I'm working on a high-definition World War II documentary and need this program to work. Have been waiting for months for the software to show up on local shelves.

Solved the problem, after three hours on the phone with Manush at Adobe Tech Support. Simply could not have solved the issue without his patient help. I can't sing his praises any louder. He was the best.
Turns out the problem was a conflict with the fingerprint authentification software on my new HP Pavilion dv7-4273 laptop, a feature I never use on my system. After literally hours of trial-and-error, going through all of the services and startup files, even changing the resolution of the display screen and downloading new video card drivers, we find found the solution.
The transitions section now opens and displays all of the options, just like it is supposed to.
Concerning your question, I wasn't having any problems loading or viewing my video files. The HD 1080, 30 fps files from my Canon 60D DSLR and my Panasonic AVCHD video camera (HMC-40) all loaded and played back without any stutters or dropped frames. I could put clips on the time line, add titles, add effects, and edit. I just couldn't get the entire transitions section to open, much less show me the various options.
Now all of those issues have beeen resolved.
So word of warning to anybody having similar problems with Elements 10: check for system conflicts with the fingerprint authentication software.

FCP X, Can I select part of a sequence to make a DVD

A client gave me his camcorder and asked me to transfer the footage to DVD. I've got over 4.5 hours on the time line and still have lost more to do. Can I select part of the timeline to make a DVD (say by year)? Is there a better way to do this, perhaps create a file like a .mov and put it on a drive that they could connect to a TV if that's even possible.
I'm open to all suggestions.

I haven't seen any docs that say you can share anything less than a "project". I just tried it here: opened a project, selected two discontiguous clips, and clicked Share to DVD. It created a DVD image of the whole Project. Same thing happened when I shared a 720p version to iTunes -- it created a video of the whole project/timeline.
Why not create a new Project for each DVD you want to create?
(The first sentence of the second paragraph of my earlier post may been confusing. The raw materials belong in the Event library as one or more Events. A Project is what you want to deliver to the 'customer'. Several Projects can be built from one or more Events. "tplynchy" may want to produce a DVD of clips from "1998", so desirable segments from the camcorder tape's event(s) should be assembled into a Project named "1992" and then shared in one or more forms.
(There should never been 4.5 hours of material in a project's Timeline.)

Can't select any photos in camera roll or photo album... help!

I have a iphone 3Gs on 4.2.1
If I go to my camera roll or any photo album, I can enter but if I select an image in the camera roll or photo album it just automatically closes and goes back to the home screen. Hard reboot, reboot is still the same.
Any suggestions as to the cause?

I am having the same thing as well. I click the photos app, I try view the photos I have taken, it just closed out of the photos app and goes straight back to the home screen. There is another way to see the photos you have taken. You click on the camera, then you click on the photos on the bottom left corner, it works for me. I can see all the pictures I have taken.
I've been having problems with my camera, whenever I take a picture (with/without flash) my photos turn out black, was wondering if anyone can help us out about this problem.

The minimize, maximize and close buttons don't work, and I can't select any items in drop-down menus.

Running Firefox 23.01 on Windows, and two days ago I lost the ability to maximize, minimize or close windows via the buttons in the upper righthand corner. I also am unable to select a choice in dropdown menus, and for good measure I cannot x out of the About window that popped up went I wanted to check my version number!

Hi, after about half an hour I can't select any open tabs or see new tabs. When I reboot and restore previous session the new tabs appear.

Existing tabs can't be activated. I have no problem with restoring a previous session or opening previous tabs, but although new tabs are created - because I see them when I restart Firefox - they are invisible until I restart. Also, some, but not all of the menu options are not accessible until I restart.
Any advice would be appreciated,

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to check if other software is causing this.

I have two Win 7 PCs running iTunes 10.7.0.21 one is a 64 bit maching and the other is a 32 bit. I can see the Air Play on both and can see the AE speakers, however, for some reason I can not select any speakers except the PC speakers on the 32 bit PC.

This problem only started after I updated iTunes to version 10.7.0.21. Never had a problem with the AE speakers until now. Funny no problem on my 64 bit PC only the 32 bit one.

If you are running win 7, i had this problem come up when i updated my itunes 10.7, btw it now runs like a dog, on slighty older hardware in win 7, hopefully version 11 fixes this!!!!!!
Go here, apparently firewall settings for itunes can be reset, so you need to add back in udp access, and change it to public.

Time Machine - can't select any backups except Today and Oldest

Ever since installing Lion I've noticed that I cannot scroll through the time machine backups using the purple bar on the right as I used to be able to do in previous OSX versions. Because of this, I have not found any way to restore anything other than the oldest backup (from April 2011). I have lost all my Safari bookmarks and was hoping to restore them from Time Machine Backup, but need more recent backup than last April.
Any suggestions?

Can't use editing transitions

I am in the process of making a slideshow in iMovie HD 6.0.3. I have inserted all of the photos and now I am trying to put the finishing touches such as transitions. However, when I try to use the 15 choices, it only allows me to use 4 (fade in, fade out, wash in, wash out). Why is this? How can I get those other transitions to use? I would like to add a little variety to the transitions since the movie is almost 15 minutes long. I need to have this finished within the next two days, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

When iMovie starts acting weirdly, a common procedure is to do the following:
Close iMovie and trash the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User (the house icon)/Library/Preferences. (iMovie will recreate the file upon relaunch). Before relaunching, do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility app on your Mac. Now see if you can select your transitions.
If you still can't select your transitions, try dragging the transition to your iMovie timeline.

Can't select the element I want

I am trying to customize the
Two-column Left Nav Layout that is provided by DW.
My first modification is to place everything within the body
tag inside a new div called
divWrapper, in order to establish a width of 800px and to
center the entire page by setting the left and right margins to
auto.
The problem is that with divwrapper inserted, the only
element I can select
when I am in design view, is divWrapper. I can't select any
of the divs or the contents of any divs that are inside divWrapper,
only the whole divWrapper.
Selecting in code view is still possible, but when I switch
back to design view, divWrapper is automatically selected, and
there seems to be no way to grab any element within divWrapper, or
to get DW to display the child element along with its entire
ancestral hierarchy in the bar at the bottom of the window.
Does anyone out there understand what is happening, and how
to fix it?

It sounds like "divWrapper" has the CSS overflow property
(and you are
using DW8). If so, right-click and use:
Element View > Full
to edit the overflow element. Note that the shortcut is to
double-click
on it. Use:
Element View > Hidden
to get back to the original state. Shortcut is F5.

Can't select, drag or do anything with clips

Can't select any clips in any iMovie project, but I can use the FILE, EDIT, WINDOW, etc. functions. Nothing else will work, not minimizing the program, not playing the clips, dragging, cutting, etc.
it started around the time I updated to Quicktime 7.4.1
I had been putting that off because of the issues with AE, but decided to run it last night. Not sure if that had anything to do with it or if it's just coincidental.

Have the exact same problem, up till now everything worked fine. Not sure when it started, various OS - iApps - QT updates recently, but here it is. I dragged a 90 minute .mov file to the clips pane, 55 minutes of importing (including the 5 minute beach ball at the end) and although the drop down finder bar menus work I can't select anything in the window including the clip itself, timeline/clip viewer switch, or the red-yellow-green buttons at the top left corner. Although "select all" is available in the edit drop down menu nothing selects. Tried tossing the com.apple.imovie.plist with no change. Opened a new movie with nothing imported same thing.
Any ideas?

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? If you have not already, be sure to update 12 to 12.1, using an opened project's Help Menu/Update.
But to the immediate questions, assuming Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit....
1. No, it is what it is. But, are you applying the same transition each time? If so, then highlight/select all the clips involved (all at one time), then Timeline Menu/Apply Default Transition will do just that for the highlighted/selected clips.
To highlight/select more than one clip at a time, hold down the Shift key of the computer main keyboard and then click on each clip that you want in the group selection
or
with your mouse cursor draw a rectangle around the clips that you want to select
2. Are you using the Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Expert workspace Pan and Zoom Tool? Or the pan or zoom presets under fx Effects/Presets/? With those you can do pan or zoom, not pan and zoom.
Or, are you in the Elements Organizer 12 Slideshow Editor using the pan and zoom effect there? Or, are you using keyframing the Motion Scale property for zoom and the Motion Position property for pan?
Are you asking about photos with landscape or portrait orientation?
The pan and zoom tool does one photo at a time.
Have you read the Adobe documentation on the Pan and Zoom Tool?
