Can't select iPhoto Background Picture

Hi.
Pre Info: Just installed both iLife 8 and iWork 8. iPhoto Library has been re-initialized by iPhoto8.
Exact Bug description: Use Keynote 8, Create a Shape, click on Shape properties in the Information Window. Try to change to a background picture. I can select any pictures, but the iPhoto Library is inaccessible. It is greyed out. The Same in Pages 8: Can't click to open iPhoto Library for a background pic out of the Information Window.
Temporal Workaround: Pull the Picture out of the Media Browser onto the Shape.
Hint: Experienced the "greyed out" Phenomenon with Logic Express 8 "File-Open" also, but it is reproducable with another Mac, too.
Cheers,
Fox

not helpful. it's no feature, it's a bug!
If there's an option for changing the background picture, one should be able to do so. Or, to make things easier, the function i mentioned should use media browser by default and not the finder / file opener.
Seems to me that making the iPhoto Library a Package was one of the monday-morning-ideas of apple

  • Can't change my background picture

I'd just like to say thank you for your help if you ever do check this out.
My friends, as a prank, changed my background picture to some random photos I had on my Macbook. However, I've been unable as of yet to actually revert it back. Though they only changed one background, none of my desktops can have their background changed. Also, none of the methods I know actually work - going to System Preferences and manually changing it from there doesn't work, nor does simply clicking a photo and choosing the option to 'set as background picture'.
    Many thanks.

You can't go to System Preferences>Desktop&Screen Savers and change the display? Try it and see. I've never seen that problem.

  • Address book: can't select iPhoto faces

Supposedly, I can double click the picture in a contact in address book, then click the Faces icon at the bottom left to browse from my iPhoto library.
However, in my address book, that icon is always greyed out.
Any ideas why that might be?
    Regards,
    Gabriel.

I have wasted time on this. It works for some faces, not others. I get some faces into Mail, not others. This seems to be yet another glitch in Lion (like my wretched mouse which has, yet again, disconnected for the second time during this message. It would help if Apple would say something about these problems, even if its just "hello").

  • Can I change the background on each page of the iPad?

I know how to set home screen and lock screen, but was wondering if there is a way to change the background to each page on the iPad. I am a teacher and would like each page to have a background set to a specific picture or word so my students know which page they use on a particular day. Is this possible? If so, can someone walk me through it?

No - you can only have one background picture which applies to all homescreens

  • Background picture in a Mail message ?

How can we insert a picture to be used as the background of a message, with the usual options (single, wallpaper,...) ?

    Hello,
Since we can have a Static Background Picture assigned to the PAGE, it will not be possible to make it Conditional and assign a Background Picture at Run Time.

  • Reading videos with iphoto and select iphoto in the screen saver

Since I've upgraded my mac with mavericks, I can not read videos in iphoto'09.
I have an other proble: I can't select iphoto in the screen saver module.
    Can you help me? thanx

About videos in iphoto'09: before upgrading my mac with mavericks, in order to read videos I just click on it. Now, itunes don't find the good software to read the video in iphoto.
About selecting a new screen saver: my mac can not find the iphoto library in the right place when I'm in the screen saver module

  • Background picture to big

When I want to change my background picture, the picture is to big and doesn't want to go to scale. Something is wrong with this update. I can't change my background picture. I have to use only the apple version and I don't like any of them (sorry). Please help me.
    Thank you,
    Ana

There's a glitch with the wallpaper. If you go into your photos app and send it to be the wallpaper by using hte little box with an arrow symbol. You will have a bit more ability to scale although not as much as you used to.
Also, the larger resolution image you work with the better it tends to work.

  • Can no longer print selected iPhoto photo with HP printer

iPhoto 09. Cannot print selected iPhoto photo with HP printer. I select the photo from iPhoto Library, go to File>print. The screen for Print comes up with another one on top of it that is blank but with text "Print...Processing 1..OK".  Clicking OK prints from that screen "Print, Processing page 1" (on correct 3x6 photo paper in black!).
I have run Apple Software Update. Run Permissions with problems (one: "Permissions differ on Library/Printers/h...". Have reinstalled iPhoto which has left one icon on Dock and 3 on desktop: iPhoto 07-27-19.app; iPhoto.app; iPhoto Library that I don't know what to do with with them, so just use the one on the dock which opens iPhoto Library.
Believe I read that after reinstalling iPhoto, a plug-in (possibly third party plug-in for HP?) must be installed. I have updated my HP printer to latest driver.
Would you advise how I can print photos in my iPhoto Library again, and also get those iPhoto icons off my desktop which only confuse me.  Thank you for your prompt attention.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Can't select photo stream and Facebook in iphoto

I don't know why, on the side of iPhoto where we can select the library, we got a section call WEB, where we got our Photo Stream and Facebook account.
I don't know why but I can't select those two facebook account and Photo Stream to see and manage the photos that are in those section. I click on it and nothing happen.
But I can share with the share button at the bottom to those sections
Can someone can tell me why I can't select those sections?
I got iPhoto 9.4 and Mountain Lion 10.8.2

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.

NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • I have photos in a DVD. In order to visualize them in iPhoto, must I necessarily import them? Can't I see the pictures from the media without importing? If not, is there any application with this functionality? I dont't like pre-visualization for photos.

I have photos in a DVD. In order to visualize them in iPhoto, must I necessarily import them? Can't I see the pictures from the media without importing? If not, is there any application with this functionality? I need an app that allows me to navigate through the photos without selecting all of them. I realy dont't like pre-visualization for photos...

In order to visualize them in iPhoto, must I necessarily import them?
iPhoto is a Database. Before it can work with any data it must be imported to the database, so yes it is necessry to import them.
Can't I see the pictures from the media without importing?
    See above.
If not, is there any application with this functionality?
Hundreds. Any image viewer will do the job. On your Mac the Finder has QuickLook and there is the Preview app as well. Online you can download any of these:

  • Where can I find my imported pictures from Iphone in Iphoto and more...

I'm curious as to the folder where my pictures from the iPhone are stored in the MacBook. I want to take that folder and copy it to an external HD where this issue ... I do it manually.
Is it possible to set the iPhoto stores them directly in a location that I specify? Yes, I say I want it to store them on my external drive directly.

If you import them to iphoto they are stored in the iPhoto Library in your Pictures Folder.
If you want to back that up, make a copy if the iPhoto Library on another volume.
Is it possible to set the iPhoto stores them directly in a location that I specify? Yes, I say I want it to store them on my external drive directly.
Yes, you can move your iPhoto Library to an external disk. Make sure the disk is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Remember a Library on an External Disk is not a back up. For a Back Up you need a copy of the Library on another disk

  • At start up, I get the background picture and there is some kind of audio. Can't access anything. Help?

My Mac Pro was running slow, and finally wouldn't wake up from the screen saver, necessitating a hard reboot. Now, I only get the starry background picture with no icons. An audio program comes on for awhile, and then it goes silent. Is there a combination of keys I can press or something else I can do to get the icons back?

I fixed it myself. It had something to do with my TV connected as a second display. All of the icons were there. Fixed it by selecting mirror displays.

  • I can not open iPhoto, are all my pictures lost?

I used iPhoto just yesturday, but today when I went to open it it would not open and instead showed a question mark where the application is in my dock. I am very worried that if I can not open iPhoto all of my pictures will be lost. My main concern is not necesarliy getting iPhoto to work but retreaving my pictures. They are very importnt to me.
Thanks to who ever can help

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.
