Can't select new slideshow music

I am creating a slideshow after clicking the "+" symbol.  I've selected the photos I want and I'm all ready to go except that I want to change the music.  Instead of Linus and Lucy I want to select an iTunes playlist.  So I do that by clicking Music on the bottom middle of the screen and open the Music Settings menu.  There I select the playlist I want and click Apply.  But it always goes back to Linus and Lucy.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm using 8.1.2.

I was able to get what I wanted by selecting a playlist and then selecting all the songs inside that playlist, thus treating it as a custom playlist.  Is that how it's supposed to be done?

  • Can't select new Primary HD to Boot from

In my school lab, I have 5 PowerMac7,2 G5 towers. Since I acquired as hand-me-downs from other school, I have no boot disks or OS disks for them. They have Leopard installed on the 76 GB Maxtor drive. With the software there is only 2.45 GB available, so I purchased 1Terabyte Hitachi drive to place in them. Using disk utilities, I erased the new drive with the Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Using SuperDuper, I reimaged the drive from the original drive. Then ran Utilities again, verified disk and disk permissions. Both drives are visible when I boot from original.
However, when I go into System Preferences to Startup disk to choose the new drive to boot from, it does not appear as a choice. I also restarted and held Opt, but it didn't appear there are a choice either.
What am I missing? I have large classes and really need to get these Macs up and running. Help!

OK when I click on each one individually there is info at bottom, the Hitachi says-
Partition Map Scheme : GUID Partition Table
So from other comments in discussion, this is incorrect?
G5's need the Apple Partition Map scheme for boot drives rather than the GUID Partition Map scheme needed by Intel Macs.
    Now what?
Here's what you may eventually have to do to get that drive to boot in a G5.
Bring up Disk Utility and select the Hitachi drive and click the Partition tab. Somewhere in there should be an options button, which when clicked should bring up a pop-up dialog that has buttons for the partition map scheme you can apply. Select Apple Partition Map and OK. Then, click the Partition button without changing any other partition information. I am pretty sure that this will wipe the directory, but when you are done, you will have a drive that can boot when you get the data transferred.
You might hold off on doing this for a bit, as their may be another utility or scheme that preserves the directory that I am unaware of.
I didn't understand everything the Hatter said.
Not to worry; he won't be offended, I'm sure. You got the right information out of your system which explains the problem. That's the important part.

  • What happened to music autofill? Can't select space for music

Recently updated to itunes 10 and see that the autofill settings have been removed. If you use autofill it uses up all available space or nothing. Does anyone know if this function has moved somewhere else? The itunes help still shows it the way it used to be so that is of no help.
Why would apple remove such a useful feature?

I thought I had the same problem. When you connect your ipod, you need to ensure that the 'manage music manually' box is ticked on the summary page. This should then enable you to use autofill. Uncharacteristically complicated for Apple given that I wouldn't have thought that autofill would come under something manually managed...
    I hope that this helps.

  • Message says my slideshow music selection can't be found or opened?

I created a Slideshow complete with music from my iTunes library and played it a number of times yesterday. Last night when I tried to run the slideshow for an event, I kept getting the message my music selection can't be found or can't be opened. The folder and all selected songs are still there and none are highlighted, but iPhoto's slideshow just won't recognize it for some reason. Some of the songs on the playlist are stored on an external harddrive as well as my main drive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Jim:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First make sure you've selected only the Playlist icon and nothing else.
If still unavailable see if you can create a new temporary slideshow and access that playlist or track. If it works there then it's something with that particular slideshow.
Can you play those songs in iTunes?

As I said - look whether your original file is damaged or not. If not, I wouldn't change it and find out what in your system makes it sound like it's clipping.
Good sound file, with volume maxed out. No need to change anything.
The same song clipped - no chance to repair.

    Hello HoopsMD,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that the display on your iPod nano (7th generation) is not responding to your touch as you would expect. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article and working through the steps within to help resolve this issue.
iPod nano (7th generation): Hardware troubleshooting - Apple Support
    Display
Follow these steps if your iPod doesn't respond to your input or has a display-related issue.
Screen is unresponsive and displays Apple logo or white screen
Reset iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button until you see the Apple logo appear. If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes.
If the Apple logo does not appear, or if the iPod is not seen in iTunes, connect it to iTunes and try to restore.
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Created slide show in iPhoto, but with new version music no longer will play.  When I click on fit slideshow to music, iPhoto shuts down.  How can I fix this.

I created a slideshow in a previous version of iPhoto.  Since updating software the music in my slide show no longer plays.  How do I fix this?  If I select fit slideshow to music, the application will shutdown and the error file is sent and have to reopen iPhoto.

I reorganized iTunes music library and it works.

  • I have a large music collection in My Music which is where my Itunes music is.  I use Itunes match now and possibly it is what is causing my problems but can't be sure.  I keep getting a new My Music folder when I go into itunes so I have 2. what can I do

Hi.  I have a very large my music folder on my C drive.  This is were all of my music is including itunes.  However, when I go into itunes, it sets up a new my music folder. If I erase the new folder, it comes back the next time I go into itunes.  It is just a very small folder vs. the large 132 GB file named My Music.  What is this new one and why does it keep getting generated vs. Itunes just using the large My Music folder that has all my music.  The small My Music it creates is 134 MB.  Does this have something to do with using Icloud and Itunes Match?  I find it confusing to have two my music folders.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor.  The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow.  It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them.  You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version).  Personal preferences showing here.

  • Aline my slides to beats & fit selected slides to music track is always grey I've tried every thing can someone please help figure this out

aline my slides to beats & fit selected slides to music track is always Gray i cant seem to figure it out its something simple i'm sure I've been trying to work it out for hours can some one help me activate these features

    Hello Michael,
that seems to depend on the theme of your Slideshow.
I found that all music adjustments are disabled, unless my Slideshow has the "Classic" theme, so if you really want to fit the slide duration to the music try to switch your presentation theme to "classic".
    Cheers
    Léonie
P.S. that seems to be a bug - the manual does not mention any restrictions in the newer themes.

  • How can I listen to the music/songs or watch the movies in my iTunes library if I've damaged/lost my iPod and use a system-reovered/new computer?

I accidentally dropped my iPod Classic 160 GB into the toilet
bowl of my home sometime ago, and unfortunately enough,
as misfortunes seldom come singly, I got a serious problem
with my computer ( an HP Desktop) and had to do the system
recovery which, as you know, removes everything in the system
drive. After having reinstalled iTunes, I thought I should be able
to listen to the music I kept in the Library of iTunes, but I don't
see any of my music/songs or movies there. Thus come my
    three questions below:
    1) How can I locate and enjoy the music or movies I saved in
the iTunes Library with a computer after its system recovery
    or even a new computer?
    2) Like the current situation I'm in, when my iPod is damaged
or lost, can I still enjoy the music or movies saved in the
iTunes Library from my computer ( meaning without an iPod)
if I have the iTunes application installed in it? How? Do I have
to sign in my account? Sign in with my e-mail address saved
in my account? Where can I find the sign-in webpage of iTunes?
(Please provide me with the related link of the webpage.)
    3) The above issue brings up another question, are the music/songs
and movies as well as other programs in the iTunes Library saved
in my computer or in Apple's server?
Please, with your kind patience, let me know as detailed as possible.
And also let me know what Apple's e-mail address I can use to ask
for support on such issues as described above? Although I always
prefer asking for support or help by e-mail, I would also appreciate
if you could let me know the phone number I can use to ask for
    such help.
    Best regards,
    Lawrence Wood

System Recovery generally assumes you have backed up your data somewhere first. If not, you're in trouble.
Depending on your region you can recover most of your previous iTunes purchases. Install iTunes. Use Store > Authorize This Computer... and Store > Sign In... then select iTunes Store in the left-hand column and click Purchased in the Quick Links section on the right. You should now be looking at a list of past purchases that you can download to your computer.
See also: HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Your purchase history is preserved on Apple's servers. Anything you ripped from CD or downloaded from elsewhere was stored on your computer and should have been backed up.
There is no live telephone support for iTunes issues. For problems with a particular purchase contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support. For general issues with usage this is the place to get help.

How can I create a slideshow that depicts only a version of a photo rather than the original?   Since the original and new versions are saved together, the aperture slideshow often choices the original rather than the desired version to display.

There are two things we use the name "Slideshow" for in Aperture:  a Slideshow Album, used for making Slideshows, and the Slideshow that is made.  (Imho, it is a design mistake to not call the containers used to create Slideshows, Books, etc., "Albums".)
The Slideshow will use the Album Pick from any Stack.  A good way to use Aperture is to promote the Image you want to regularly use (such as, for example, a Version with adjustments) to the top of the Stack.  This makes it the Stack Pick, and will be the default Album Pick.  If you haven't done that, you can still change the Album Pick for any Stack in a Slideshow Album.  Expand your Stack(s), select the Image in each Stack that you want to be the Album Pick (and thus shown in the Slideshow), and "Stacks➞Set Album Pick".  (Note the keyboard shortcut; there is also a Toolbar icon for this.)  The change is immediate.  The Slideshow will always show the Album Pick (or, if there is not one, the Stack Pick) for every Stack in your Slideshow Album.

After creating a new playlist in iTunes, how can I add my entire music library --at once-- to the new playlist. I want to download all my music from Icloud at once on my Macpro

You have two separate questions here...
To get all your music into one playlist, select Music in the sidebar and click the Songs view at the top. Then, highlight all the songs and drag them into your playlist.
I don't know if it's possible to download all Purchased content (or do you mean iTunes Match content?) at once; try a few Google searches.

  • So I just upgraded to an iphone 5 from a 4s becaused the screen did not work any longer, however, my 4s still works so I've got everything still but for some reason it will only transfer half my music to itunes so I can't get all my music onto new phone

    Hi there
So I just changed from an iphone4S to an iphone 5 because my screen didn't work any longer on the 4s but the phone itself still works so I managed to get all my contacts etc BUT for some reason I can't transfer all my music across to itunes and therefore I can't get it onto my new phone, it only transfers about 50% of it.
Then when i go into music on the iphone 5 it shows the music but won't let you play anything and just flicks through all the songs without playing anything.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thank you

Thank you - I thought that might be the case BUT why doesn't the music play that I have bought from itunes - do you happen to know please.
All that happens is it just flicks through it all and won't play any of it???
As in I select the song and it just flicks back one screen (if I am making sense).....
I am really stuck and cannot work out what's gone wrong that's all.
Considering a reset of my new iphone and trying again but done that once and it's still the same.

  • Muse Lightbox slideshow: Hero images are undersize & cropped, can't select to change them

Mac, Mavericks, & Muse: First website: Building Lightbox slideshow. When a thumbnail is clicked in Preview mode, Hero image is undersized and cropped (placed jpgs are max 600 pixels x smaller). Back in Design mode, I can't select the Hero to resize it. Both  thumbnails and Hero images are set to Fit Content Proportionally.
    Any help greatly appreciated!, Thanks!

I've had a similar-ish issue to you, minus cropping. Two key things:
    1) To edit the position or size of the hero image double-click it
    2) If the original image is smaller or larger or differently sized than the target Hero frame this (above) will happen. What I did was to
scale the frame for the Hero image to the intended area, then get the dimensions of that area using a rectangle. Copy the vaues to make a new Photoshop document and
manually import the images individually and save the resulting JPEGs which will have the additional space around the image to fill it for the Hero (ideally scale the image to fill the target space by losing any necessary empty space).
Essentially the original images you're using must be the same as the resulting frame which is no good if they're all different sizes. Yeah, it's a pain.
Hope this helps. Look at my website homepage as an example: http://www.goodwinsanimations.com/
