Can't select text and scroll when using Word

Recently I have been unable to select text and scroll down the page using two fingers, while in a word document.This is only happening in Word, so far no other programs. Does anyone have an idea of how to turn on or off this feature?

I cant scroll below or above viewable section of text in any of my Macbooks, iMac, Mac Mini. Never have been able to, never could, except by pressing the arrow keys whilst selecting, to move up or down.

I dont have flash installed (never will do since my first virus of video ad sound running in background from Cnet was downloaded and kept returning until i deinstalled flash).
I believe that this is a universal issue because none of my Macs can scroll out of screen when selecting text, which as a webmaster and developer, is a pain in the butt

Select, and Copy in the Word doc and Paste in the Pages doc. It may not be perfect. Importing (Opening) the Word doc is probably better than using Copy/Paste for large amounts of content.

Selecting text and scrolling in Tiger vs. Leopard.

Please forgive these very basic, verbose, questions.
I've noticed that Leopard does not allow me to select text the same way that Tiger did. With Tiger I could position the mouse cursor either to the left or to the right of the text, hold down the mouse button and move the cursor across the text. With Leopard I have to place the mouse cursor to the left of the text, click and then hold down the shift key and progessively add to the selection as I move the cursor from left to right. I much prefer the first technique. Is there any way to go back to it?
Also, scrolling a page in Safari is different. Tiger allowed me to place the cursor on the blue dingus on the right side of the page and hold the mouse key down and draw the dingus up or down. With Leopard I have put the cursor where I want to dingus to go, click and it jumps to that location. Again, I prefer Tiger to Leopard. Any way to restore Tiger's technique?

What you describe about the scroll bar (it's called the thumb, by the way) happens when you hold the option key down. However, if I hold the option key down, I can't replicate your first behavior.
I can't imagine your option key is stuck down because you'd be getting all kinds of weird characters when you type.
There is another thread where someone is having odd behavior like the shift key is held down. We don't seem to be getting anywhere with that one, though.

How to select text and pictures together in word processing mode?

Hello,
I have written about 20 chapters of a book in word processing mode. Each chapter has many pictures, carefully positioned within the text.
Each chapter is a separate pages file.
Now i want to put them together into one single document and have a big problem.
When i press cmd+A to select everything in one document in order to copy and paste it into another document, i can either select the text OR the pictures, not both together.
In Layout mode it is possible, but not in word processing mode.
Does anybody know how to select both in word processing mode or how to transform a word processing document into a layout mode document?
Or is there a way to put together a word processing document from a number of single documents?

I still use word processing for just about everything. The first two versions of Pages only had word processing. I think all of the complaints/requests about the "always-present" text layer led the developers to add page layout. I think they would have been better off adding another application (like AppleWorks' draw module compared to AppleWorks' word processing module.

How can I keep pages from scrolling when using keyboard page-down

The bottom of the pages window has a gear. You can select "Page" in the drop down menu and click the arrow, to perform a page down. The new page is positioned exactly like the previous page. But when I type fn+down-arrow or cmd+down arrow the new page view is either higher or lower than the previous page. Resizing the window makes it almost possible to get a consistent page display but not quite. It's awkward trying to read a document when each new page jumps to a new position. The arrow next to the gear is the only solution I've found.
Does anyone know a way to achieve this page down view using just the keyboard. I'm using the iMac wireless keyboard?

It is an annoyance, due to the 2 meaning two different things.
The page down key means the whole window view which is not the physical page that you see in Pages.
Apple could have clarified it by labelling the key +window down/up.+

I can't select Photoshop CC 2014 when using the "Open with" menu in Windows 7

I have recently installed CC 2014, and uninstalled my CC version. When I go to a jpeg, or any image file in windows explorer, I right-click and "open with" and it isn't listed on my program list to open the file with. I click on "browse programs", find the exe file in adobe-photoshop cc2014 folder and click OK, and it just goes back to the open with menu with no option for photoshop.
Any ideas on how I can get it on that list, so I can open these files from the file location, instead of opening up photoshop and then searching for the file location within photoshop?
Also, I don't have any problems opening up the pictures from within photoshop, just within windows explorer.

I'm having a similar problem, but only with jpg's. I have PS CS6, CC, and CC 2014. Other image file formats function normally with regard to the "open with" list. PS CC 2014 appears on the list. But with jpg's only PS CC appears on the "open with" list and 2014 can't be added by the browsing for it.
The curious thing is that if I have any of the three versions of Photoshop open, click on Photoshop CC in the "open with" list, the image opens in whatever version is already open on my computer. This is true of all image formats. No matter which version I pick from the "open with" list it opens in the currently running program. I use only the latest version so keeping it open all the time is an easy work around. I won't uninstall any of the earlier versions lest more file association quirks result. it would be nice to have this matter fixed.

Can you set username and password when using OWA_UTIL.REDIRECT_URL?

If you have a PSP that runs under a DAD that includes username and password and therefore doesn't require users to log in and you want it to do OWA_UTIL.REDIRECT_URL to another PSP that runs under another DAD that normally requires login using basic database authentication and the first PSP already "knows" the user's username and password, is there any way to use them to skip the login dialog of the second page? Maybe hack into the request and use UTL_HTTP.SET_AUTHENTICATION somehow...?

That doesn't seem to work, and trying that kind of url directly from the browser says "invalid syntax error", so maybe Oracle appserver just doesn't let you do that.
I got the idea of trying to add an authorization header:

Okay. The missing menus at the top of iTunes (in recent versions) can indicate trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system. It's a new symptom of a problem that can also cause text to go missing from the Device tab in iTunes.
Unfortunately it's a bit trickier to deal with on Windows 7 systems than Vista or XP. (The "Vortical" instructions which can fix it for almost all folks on Vista and XP aren't applicable to Windows 7.)
Try having a look through the following (unfortunately very long) topic. It contains a lot of information on the Windows 7 variants of this, and possible methods for fixing the various Segoe UI-related issues that might be in play:

you can share both your entire screen, or just a specific window of program in your computer. it is not possible to give someone a remote access to your computer through skype, and it is also not possible to share your mouse and keyboard.

But yes, you should be able to connect to your home WiFi network with multiple computers and devices. In my house my wife, my daughter and I will all be using the WiFi Internet connection at the same time with our Laptops and I will also be using my iPad, my daughter uses her iPhone, and we have no issues at all.

All of a sudden my podcasts are 'frozen' . . . I can't select them and the text is gray, not black.

I'm traveling and count on my iPhone 4S for entertainment. But all of a sudden my podcasts are 'frozen' . . . I can't select them and the text associated with them is gray, not the usual black. OS 6.1.3
Any ideas? I suspect a setting somewhere, but can't find it or figure it out.

On the padcast playing screen on the right side below the scrubber bar is the playback speed icon. It can say 1/2X, 1X or 2X, those are the playback speeds. Tap the icon to change speeds.

Yes. Unfortunately, I don't know the specifics because I don't use iPhoto anymore and I completely copied over 15 years of MP3 files recently when I installed 10.7. Needless to say, I have not opened iTunes since and probably never will again - not because of iTunes but because of my stupidity. I did have some of the files backed up but I hadn't backed up in a while.......anyway....
When I imported my CD's, I had them go directly to my external firewire. I can't remember exactly how to set it, but in the preference section of iTunes you can specify an import destination to any drive that's available to your machine. I did this with iPhoto as well way back at one point when I was using Tiger, but I don't remember the specifics on that either. I can't imagine they would have discontinued support for that feature since then.
