Can't send any mail

Still me. When I try to send an email, there's an error message appearing, telling me that it's not possible for MAIL to send this mail via that POP-server. I contacted the POP-server but there's no problem with connections. When I tried to reinstall the account, it wasn't possible to connect with the smtp.
Any help will be welcome.

YYYYYYYAHHHHH! Ernie, you're my hero of the day. I called (for the third time) my ISP (Bell Canada), asking them again if they were blocking the port 25, and if they could deblock it. First they denied. then I told them I had proof that they were blocking the port and asked for a solution. He then told me I could still use my mail from the hotmail-site!!! I answered that I needed to use both of my email adresses (the university and the one from the ministry). He suddenly changed voice and gave me to a higher positionned guy from Bell. "Sure we are blocking this port for security reason"
THE SOLUTION: he told me then to keep my incoming settings but asked me to change the outgoing settings. That were the ones from Bell Canada, and i had to check the SSL to be on.
Outgoing server: smtphm.sympatico.ca
X SSL
login: [email protected]
password: the one they gave you
I wondered, because they pass also by the port 25. He replied that yes and no. There were some security levels added.
A very big THANK YOU!
Now the only thing i still have to find out is how to get back my mails i lost in this accident.

    Hi frisbo1312
I am in the UK and eventually found the problem was due to my BT Home Hub Router.  Not sure where you live, but of you are in the UK, this might work for you.
I found this fix below on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4604180?start=15&tstart=0
It worked for me.  If you can't link to the URL, here is the body of the text
There's an issue related to the BT homehub that is providing a hostname that is "syntactically incorrect" for several smtp server.
Here's how you can fix it.
Using your internet browser, go to the address "192.168.1.254
    - Follow instructions to reset your password if asked.
    - Then go to "Settings", then "Advanced Settings" and "home network"
You will see there all the devices that are connected or that has been connected before. It's gonna be easyer if yout computer is the only one connected.
Your computer should have a name like "unknown-xx:xx:xx:xx:xx ...
Click on this name, chose another name without any special characters, like "macbook" for exemple.
    And then click on "apply"
    - restart your computer.
    That should fix the issue.
Credit goes to vincentfromcork for providing me with the solution.

  • Can't send any mail since Safari 3.2 update

I have updated Safari to v.3.2 and been unable to send any mail ever since. I use Mail 3.5. I've tried everything, checked all the settings, still doesn't work. It's Ok to receive mail. When I try to send anything I get the message "e-mail address rejected by the smtp server".
On my PC mail is working just fine. Please help me if you know how to fix it.

Same with me! No mail goes out anymore! It just says "Sending" in perpetuity, even if there's nothing in the Outbox!

  • TS3899 I can't send any mail.

I can't send any email out from my iphone 5

When it asks for the password, typically this is a random number sent to you via text message from Google.  I get a new code everytime I want to add a new device or log into from a new computer.  It can get very annoyingif you access your account from various computers or devices.  Once its working its not bad though.  You may want to go back in and turn the 2 step authentication off.

  • Help!  Cancelled sending a large attachment, now I can't send any mail!

Tried sending a 37 meg zip to someone, then decided to use ftp instead. After canceling sending the email, deleting it from my 'outbox' and 'draft' folders, now if i try to send any email - even just one line of text - the mail activity shows a progress bar that doesn't move, and shows the kb/s of the transfer - which is unnerving since the email i'm trying to send has no attachments on it.
i even trashed the preference file and rebooted - still nothing. how can i get this half-sent attachment unclogged from my mail tubes?! please assist.

I appreciate understand your concern, but I promise you I know what a preference file is, and only deleted it by the recommendation of another thread in which someone was having a similar problem.
I tried your suggestion and it didn't work either. I'm wondering if mail has anywhere that it might keep temporary files? Like maybe it makes a copy of an attachment before it starts sending it or something, and when i cancelled sending the file it just keeps trying to send it through first? Now, after having mail closed for a while, i'm randomly getting this message:
"Some actions taken while the account “[email protected]” was offline could not be completed online.
Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox “On My Mac” in “On My Mac” so that you can complete the actions while online.
Additional information: The connection to the server “mail.mac.com” on port 993 timed out."
    any other ideas???

  • When I try and send mail from one of two email addresses, it asks me for a password to a google e-mail account I no longer have, so now I can't send any mail

I have x6 gmail accounts set up on my Thunderbird pop mail. When ever I try and send ANY email from 2 of these accounts ([email protected] & [email protected]) a window pops up and says the following:
Enter your password for [email protected] on smtp.googlemail.com
I haven't had that email address for a couple years, and I've tried every password I've ever used with no luck.
I eventually have to hit cancel, the a new error box pops up that says the following:
    Sending of message failed.
An error occurred sending mail: Could not get password for smtp.googlemail.com. The message was not sent.
PLEASE PLEASE help, I need these two address to work. Every other address (x4) through Thunerbird works.
Thank you for your time and support.

Are you trying to send an email from "[email protected]" this address??

  • For the last 4 months I can not send any mail from my mac mail account. It will receive but not send. I have to use my Yahoo or Gmail account to send anything. When I forward or try to send a new email, a box wants my password. IT won't take my password.

A box comes up after I try and send an email wanting my password. I put the password in, the box disappers, then shows up again empty wanting my password. The same password is used to access Apple but Mac Mail will not accept it. It just stop sending about four months ago.

It is possible that you are in a transition period of time when Apple is shutting down the mobileME website.  In fact, Mobileme.com is closed at this moment.  I can see where you might be receiving email traffic and yet being unable to send email out using the mobileme/ mac dot com emaill address.  Check this article out from Gigaom.

  • Broke what didn't need fixing -- can't send e-mail

I upgraded to Leopard yesterday, and have lost the ability to send e-mails. I talked to the guy at Cox this morning, and he says he's hearing this a lot lately -- that Leopard and Cox (and maybe others?) are having problems. Something about security, he thinks, but he's not with Apple so he doesn't know what they did with Leopard that "broke" what was working fine with Tiger/Panther/Wombat/whatever releases of OSX.
It won't accept my password, and insists that my outgoing SMTP server is offline, while it still lets me receive mail.
I'm fairly cheesed off by this, and REALLY hoping Apple's working on a fix for this.
Had I known this sort of thing was possible, I wouldn't have upgraded. Grrr.
    Tony

First, This is the most frustrating thing!! I am having the same problem as the others on this thread. I post to let apple know this is a real problem for a lot of people and it needs to be addressed ASAP. I can't send mail on either of my accounts on my macbook but I can send on both on the PowerMac.
I have 4 macs on my network and the only one with this problem at this time is my MacBook Pro. I had this problem on my Power Mac a few months ago and finally fixed it by deleting my account in mail and re-creating. That has not worked this time. When I look a the 2 computers (the macbook and powermac) the mail accounts are setup exactly the same. I have tried every suggestion on this and other boards without success. Can't send any mail (told can't connect to server and/or accounts always offline and option to change grayed out. Have tried ports 25, 587 and 990 with no luck.
I upgraded to Leo on the day it came out and did not start having a problem with mail on the macbook until this week. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH Leopard when it comes to mail, Safari and networking in general. I have had a number of very odd experiences since the upgrade. Not all of us are suddenly screwing up our email and only doing it since the install of Leo.
Had this problem in Tiger once and had to change the port from 25 but that was all that was necessary.

  • Why I can't send any e-mail messages with 6230i?

    Hi mates,
I have a Nokia 6230i with a Vodafone Italian sim card in it.
I know for sure that I CAN retrieve messages form my incoming POP3 e-mail server but I can't send any e-mail messages with it.
Any time I try to do that it prompts me an information balloon saying: message failed. Why??
I mean, I properly set up my phone with all Vodafone details but it still does not seem to work.
    Any help will be appreciate
    Stefano.
    P.S.
I can even send and receive MMS and of course SMS too

  • I have lost my sent box and can't send any e.mails

I can't send any e.mails out It would appear that I have lost everything to do with my sent box

    Hi mummyh66xx,
What is your email provider? Is it Yahoo!, Gmail, Hotmail, MSN, or possibly another provider?
If your emails have disappeared from your Sent folder, it's likely that it's related to your email provider, regardless of the browser you are using to navigate.
We suggest you contact the Support team of the email provider you are using, so that they can further investigate the issue and possibly recover your lost emails.
Best of luck! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
    Thanks!!

  • Is mac mail's server down today  I can't send any emails

I can receive emails but can't send any today.  Does anyone know if the server is down?

Are you using the Mail application that came with your Mac (or maybe MobileMe or some other web based email service)? If it is just Mail, who is your ISP - it would be their servers you're dealing with.

  • Mail program goes offline and can't send any email

More information is required for a meaningful reply. Do you have an email account? Are you settings correct? Can you receive emails on the iPad? Have you another device on which you send /receive emails? Is it working OK?

  • Can't send e-mail on one phone, but can on another

I got two iphones - one for myself and one for my wife. We have a family plan, and I set mine up first and hers second. Amongst the problems:
    1. I can receive calls and she can't. The phones were activated at 1830 and 1845 on 6/30. I got the text message that my phone could receive calls at 0915 on 7/1. AT&T help line said her phone could not receive calls because 1) the old phone was still on (actually, both of our old phones were still on), and 2) I had not completed the syncing process by downloading music and photos (contacts had been synced) - I thought this was bull, as did the Apple Geniuses. Needless to say, I've tried their fixes for the above and it still doesn't work.
    2. My wife (with a different .mac account) can't send any e-mails from her phone. She gets an error message that her e-mail was refused by the server "Cannot Send Mail - The sender address [email protected] was rejected by the server". We have Comcast ISP. My e-mails get sent from my phone and get through fine. She can view her e-mails in her box, however, they do not load (we get the spinning dashes). This was fixed when we did a soft reboot, but it happened again.
2a - How do I try to re-send the e-mail that is in the Outbox? I can view it, but it won't let me re-send it...
    Thanks!

can not send e-mail in mac os x 10.4.11

I'm not sure I know what you mean by 'what settings are you using in the accounts part of mail preferences', but I'll give you as much information as I can in the hopes that some of it is responsive.
In "preferences" I select "accounts" and there are 3 listed:
    'personal gmail' (IMAP)
    'business gmail' (IMAP)
    'Yahoo' (POP)
For each of the above, the "Account Information" tab gives:
    description: [username]
email address: [correctly reflects my address]
    full name: [my name]
    Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
    user name: [my username]
password: [*** - I've re-entered to ensure it is my true password]
    outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com:username
Is it all in the same format on the iphone?
This is the same information for the 2 gmail accounts, with the exception of the usernames differing. If I click "server settings" at the bottom, it reflects the outgoing mail server "smtp.gmail.com" server port 25, my correct user name and password.
Again, different names for the different accounts, right? And this is the same port etc. as you put into the iphone
All of the above information matches what I input into my iPhone, and it has worked fine since day 1, so I don't understand the malfunction.
Open /Applications/Utilities/Console. Make sure console.log and system.log are open (or see the File menu).
    Try to send an email.
Look for new lines in the log files (it should scroll down automatically so the newest lines are at the end of the log at the bottom of the window). What do you see? (Erase or substitute for any personal info before posting.)
Do you use any firewall software or have you used third-party software or Terminal to configure the builtin firewall?
