Can't send attachments containing wmv file

Since installing snow leopard on my macbook I can not send email containing a wmv file attachment. I can attach a text file and send it with no problem. The size of the file is within the specs of my server. After 2-3 minutes of the spinning wheel, I receive the error msg: cannot send message using the server outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net:username. Sending the message content to the server failed. This process also kicks me off of my wireless network.

What happens if you zip the file before adding it to the email?

  • How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Mail, without the photos appearing within the email?s

How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Apple Mail, without the photos appearing in the body of the email?  If it can be done, it's not at all obvious, at least not to me.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

The "View as icon" option shrinks the photo to an icon in the sender's Apple Mail, but how it appears to the recipient varies dependingy on what e-mail client he/she uses.
Using Apple Mail 5.0 (the Lion version) at both ends, the sender can use the "View as icon" option to shrink his view of the photo to an icon, but the recipient also using Apple Mail 5.0 still sees the full photo in line with the message text. The recipient can then use the "View as icon" option to shrink it to an icon, but I don't think that's not what jackofarabia is looking for.
As far as I know there is no way in the current Apple Mail to do what jackofarabia wants. There should be, but there isn't.

Is this a particular sender, or all of your attchments?  Google winmail.dat and you will see a number of returns that can explain this, but in short, this is the way some e mail providers deal with attachments.  If all of your e mail is coming that way, you need to change a setting on your isp set up.  Perhaps stary here...

  • How can I send a large pdf file (42MB) attachments by icloud ??

How can I send a large pdf file (42MB) attachment by email in Icloud ???

That's a bit excessive.  The website http://convert.neevia.com/pdfcompress/ can compress files up to 5 MB in size. You may want to print to PDF single smaller pages, or print the document and scan it one page at a time to PDF, and then use the PDF compress tools to shrink it further.

I bought an iPhone from Ebay and it did not turn on so I looked on WinSCP and it said there was NO files PLEASE can someone send me iPhone 4 files!

No, no one can do that. You need to try restoring it:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • Can't Send Attachments Using Exchange Account

For some reason I can't send attachments using my Exchange account on my iPhone. Pictures, Word docs, Excel Docs, doesn't matter. They just get stuck in my out box and I get the following message, "Cannot Send Mail - An error occurred while delivering this message." I can receive attachments just fine, but cannot send or forward them. If I use any of the other email accounts on my phone, it works fine. The Exchange account is the only issue. Is this some limitation with Exchange on an iPhone or something? Anyone ever have the same problem as was able to fix it? Thanks!

I've got 38 iPhones deployed running the 3.1.2 OS against an Exchange 2007 server. Several of my users complain about the same issue, and I've seen it myself. I have found a workaround of sorts - I've found that if I've sent a message with an attachment and I get a failure to send, if I manually browse down to the Sent Items folder, that forces a replication of the Sent Items. The next time I do a manual sync, the e-mail with the attachment will go.
I presume this has something to do with Exchange trying to put a copy of the e-mail in to your Sent Items at the same time the iPhone is trying to send the message.
Potentially, this might be solved by turning off the option to always store your sent e-mails in the Sent Items. I have not yet tested that as a workaround as from a corporate standpoint and an ease-of-use standpoint, we want that e-mail in the Sent Items for reference.
If anyone has any success with this fix, please let me know.

  • I can't send attachments with Thunderbird?

I can't send attachments with Thunderbird. I can write a message but when I click on Attach, I get the message "Thunderbird has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." There is only a "CLOSE PROGRAM" button displayed and when I click on it Thunderbird stops running. I'm not sure whether this is a Thunderbird problem or a Windows 7 problem. Any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it?

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode.

  • Can we send more than 50 files ...even at the cost of a more expensive subscription level?

Can we send more than 50 files ...even at the cost of a more expensive subscription level?
    Thanks.

    Hi Val,
Nice to see you in the forums again!
There is currently just the one subscription level for Adobe Send. If you want to send more than 50 files per transaction, you can try zipping up some or all of the files and sending them in batches. However, the ZIP files can't be previewed by your recipients, and tracking information pertains only to the full ZIP file.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Can I transfer Mpeg and wmv files to my Ipad and how do I do it?

Just wondering if you can do this

Yes, you can transfer your mpeg or wmv files to you iPad, but they can not be played in iPad, as they are not supported with iPad. So to play them in iPad normally, you should first convert your mpeg or wmv files to mp4, mov, or avi, then transfer the converted mp4(mov, avi) file to your iPad.
What you need is a video converter, and there are many ones on App store or Google.  And I just got Total Video Converter, it depends on your demands.

  • How can I send attachments as an icon and not a full page pasted in my document?

I send a lot of attachments in my job and I am new to apple.  90% of the time I can not get an attachment to be the same as when I used a pc.  It paste it as a full document.  I have looked at help and I have been able a few times to click "view as an icon" but often that is not given to me as an option.  I have checked in the send mail box 'send word friendly" but still most of the time I can not send an attachment properly. does it need to be a certian extention or what?  Why?  Help!!

The easiest way to do this from the Finder is simply drag the document icon onto the Mail icon in the Dock. That will open Mail with the document already attached.
If the recipient reports problems, try compressing the document first. Highlight the document and choose "Compress" from the Finder's File menu. Then drag it to Mail.
If the recipient still reports problems, you may first have to save the document in Word in a compatible format. If your PC colleagues are using an earlier version of Word you will have to use the lower common format.

  • How can i send multiple Key note files attached in one e-mail

I've problem with mail attachment. I want to send multiple files from keynote as 4 attached in one mail. Anyone know how? Do I've to wasting time send it one by one? Your kind advice will be a lot appreciated. Thank you ;)

You can only email one file at a time from the app. Unless you can copy and paste all four files into the email, you can't do it in the Mail App either. There is a third party app called Group Email with Attachments that will allow you to do this. You will have to be running iOS 4 to attach documents I believe.

  • Can't send attachments in mail since upgrading

    Hi-
Since upgrading, I can't send attachements in Mail.  The filenames appear all grayed out and they can't be highlighted.  In order to attach, I have to open through Finder and drag over into Mail.
    What gives?
    s

Usability and interface issues with Gmail aside, I did figure something out. (I don't really use Gmail, it just seemed like a good at the time when I was setting up an account for a friend so I could help out with issues.)
I couldn't add attachments to a new message either. In fact, when I clicked the link to add an attachment, the link disappeared. I discarded the message, opened a new one, click the add attachment link, and the link disappeared again.
Turning off the blocking of pop-up windows didn't change the outcome.
So I opened a new message and looked around.
I noticed a little icon in the upper right of the message, just above the To: field, a sort of double square with an arrow in it. It looked almost like icon used on Windows to indicate maximizing the window for full screen, except it had an arrow that looked like the "Forward" arrow when you want to forward a message instead of replying. No tool tip came up so I decided to try it.
This made the message disappear, and popped open a new smaller window which eventually loaded the message. Looked about the same as before but without the rest of Gmail. Curiously, the add attachments link actually worked, without disappearing. A dialog popped open (looked like from the OS, not a browser window) and I was able to select a file. It appeared listed below the subject and above the message, with a progress indicator that took several seconds (half a minute?) before any progress happened. It did eventually get started and completed the upload.

  • I can't send attachments

I am supposed to be able to send attachments up to 25Mb however it does not matter how small or what format I try and use I see the file name and file size in the bar near the top of the screen but I only get a spinning thing as though it is attaching a file.
I can just leave this until it times out. There is no problem with my PC as I can send attachments from my hotmail address.
    Any ideas ???????????????????

    Hi.
This sounds like something locally is interferring, e.g. a security product such as anti-virus or firewall. Can you check the settings of any of those products in case they are indeed getting in the way ?

  • Help!! Can't send attachments (but can receive them)

    Hi everyone,
I just bought my macbook a few months ago. Email was working fine all along but recently (for the past 2 weeks) have been having problems sending emails with attachments (word documents with small file sizes) on all of my web mails including Gmail, Yahoo! mail and Hotmail. I've tried using different browsers too, including Firefox and Safari, and even different networks, at home and at wireless hotspots in cafes and such. Nothing works!!! It's strange because I can receive and retrieve emails with attachments, and can even send emails as long as there aren't any attachments. I can send attachments, but only through Adium (chat application, like Messenger).
But just now, i tried using my sister's PC using the network at home and was able to send attachments(from her gmail account and mine)! (She uses Firefox)
I've therefore come to a conclusion that the problem is with my mac...
I am reallly frustrated. Can anyone please please help? :(((

Try removing your e-mail. I haven't set up AOL on iPhone in a while, but it is an IMAP account. Authentication may be the issue. Go into Settings<Mail<AOL<Advanced<SSL On/Off. Use Password authentication, and/or port 143.

  • Can't send attachments, can barely send emails at times since updated OS.

Mac's Mail app. 2.1 will not send attachments anymore (on or about the time I updated 3 of my copmuters to OS X 10.4.7. At times I can barely send emails, especially if they have more than a few lines of content! I can, however, receive email. My ISP, Adelphia, in Los Angeles, says everything's fine on their end and it's the Mail application. This is ridiculous. It started a week ago, then stopped doing it, and now it's totally worthless again. I've read numerous accounts of this in the discussions, but every "solution" seems needlessly complex. Can anyone help?
    Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi Freder,
    That's interesting...
Possibility: Some mail or account setting or preference file is corrupted
Make a new user account (System Preferences > Accounts; click the lock icon to authenticate, then the "+" icon). Log out of your account (under the Apple menu) and log into the new account. Run Mail and set up the Adelphia account. Can you send from here? To avoid confusion, don't receive mail in the new account -- look at Mail > Preferences > General and the check for new mail option to prevent an automatic receive.
Possibility: There's something else going on on your system
While sending a large message you know will fail, watch your system with Activity Monitor (in Applications/Utilities). Be sure the popup at top says All Processes, then click the % CPU column to show heavy CPU users. What is using your system? How much CPU is used? How much free disk space and free RAM is there? (The latter two items are under the Disk Usage and System Memory tabs at the bottom.)
Possibility: the connection to Adelphia is a problem
Web browsing is OK? You say that web mail works fine. Would you notice a drop out of your network connection for, say, five seconds while browsing the web? That's long enough to interrupt mail but short enough that you might just put it down to a slow page load. Watch network activity in Activity Monitor, the Network tab at the bottom. Does it drop to zero for a while before Mail fails?
If you can try the suggestions and answer the questions, I think we'll whittle this down enough to propose a solution.
    John
