Can't Send Attachments Using Exchange Account

For some reason I can't send attachments using my Exchange account on my iPhone. Pictures, Word docs, Excel Docs, doesn't matter. They just get stuck in my out box and I get the following message, "Cannot Send Mail - An error occurred while delivering this message." I can receive attachments just fine, but cannot send or forward them. If I use any of the other email accounts on my phone, it works fine. The Exchange account is the only issue. Is this some limitation with Exchange on an iPhone or something? Anyone ever have the same problem as was able to fix it? Thanks!

I've got 38 iPhones deployed running the 3.1.2 OS against an Exchange 2007 server. Several of my users complain about the same issue, and I've seen it myself. I have found a workaround of sorts - I've found that if I've sent a message with an attachment and I get a failure to send, if I manually browse down to the Sent Items folder, that forces a replication of the Sent Items. The next time I do a manual sync, the e-mail with the attachment will go.
I presume this has something to do with Exchange trying to put a copy of the e-mail in to your Sent Items at the same time the iPhone is trying to send the message.
Potentially, this might be solved by turning off the option to always store your sent e-mails in the Sent Items. I have not yet tested that as a workaround as from a corporate standpoint and an ease-of-use standpoint, we want that e-mail in the Sent Items for reference.
If anyone has any success with this fix, please let me know.

  • Can't send Attachments using Mail to connect toe Exchange Server 2007

I struggle to send any emails with even the smallest of attachments via Mac Mail using Exchange 2007. I receive mail ok (intermittently slow but ok) although the Exchange Account does beach ball alot when checking for new mail. However, replying or sending an email that contains an attachment, even a small logo is a nightmare.

I am using Mail 4.4 on Mac OS X 10.6.6 on an iMac. We use Exchange 2007 and it's run and managed by Microsoft "Microsoft Business Productivity Online Standard Suite" We are not allowed to change server settings. I am the only one in a small, remote-workforce company that lives in the UK and I keep being told that is the issue. However, I've found too many people with similar problems on the web to believe that, but I haven't found an answer. Any ideas??

  • Encoding problem when forwarding mails with attachments using exchange account

    Hi,
I'm facing a special misbehaviour of mail. Scenario: With Apple Mail 7.2 I would like to forward an exchange mail with attachments. The mail is wirtten in german and uses german special characters like äüöÄÖÜ. During editing the mail everything is ok which means all characters are shown in thte correct way. When I send the mail, something magic must happen in the background.
When I look in the sent mail folder and open the mail, all special characters are show as "?". Must be an encoding problem, I gues but I don't know how to fix it.
When I send exactly the same mail with another Apple mail account (non exchange), there is no problem. So I assume it has something to do with handling exchange accounts under Apple mail.
Any idea to solve this issue? Thanks in advance.
    Br,
    Jakob

This is a know issue with Yahoo! Email on the iPhone. When sending email, sometimes it will say it has been sent, while it really has not (and it will not show up in the sent folder).
It has been discussed quite a bit in the forums, so a search will turn up a lot of discussion, but no solid solution. Some say Yahoo is working on a fix, other that Apple is.
The most common solution (which is usually temporary), is to either reboot your phone, and/or delete and reinstall your Yahoo! Mail account on your phone.

  • Can't send messages using pop account

    Hello,
I can’t send mail with some of my pop accounts using mail app. I have a .mac and a Yahoo account both work perfect. The other POP accounts don’t send. I get an error that says, “Cannot send message using the Server xxxxxxx” I check the setting and they are fine. It stop working a couple of days ago. I didn’t make any changes on the accounts settings.

I had the same problem until I called Earthlink support – it's your ISP's problem not yours. They will help you open a new POP account and set a new port (in the advanced option in preferences) to authorize your ability to send mail. I have no idea whether Yahoo is as helpful as Earthlink. They may not be because they're free.

  • Can't send replies using Exchange 2003 account - smtp works fine if I type an address?

We have new IPad users trying to connect to an Exchange 2003 Mail Server.  Everything works well EXCEPT if they try to REPLY TO any message - it brings up a generic "check your mail settings" error every time.
If we compose mail by hand, it sends OK
If we use a contact, send mail to them, it works fine.
We also have IPad users connected to a 2010 Exchange Server, no such problems.
Anyone have similar issues?  Any advice on a fix?

  • Can't send attachments using Messages 8.0

I am unable to send/receive attachments to people using messages. I'm running Mavericks 10.9 and Messages 8.0. I constantly get send failed when looking at the file transfers section. All my settings match the chat service.

    Hi,
If it is a corporate thing then if it is using a OS X server it will be iChat Sever which is in fact Jabber.
There is a good chance it will be Jabber anyways.
Jabber uses port 1080 to Sending files normally.
However if Server to Server (i.e the Buddy is on a different server) then port 7777 is sometimes used for a particular Jabber Proxy.
With a domestic router you login using a web browser.
Most will then offer several methods of opening Ports.
The simplest is UPnP as it is an On/Off setting.
This will allow multiple devices use the same ports - handy when iPhone, iPads and Macs can be doing things in Messages and iMessages
Port Forwarding tends to have a table where you list the ports you want to open.
These are then (generally) pointed at one IP (Computer) to the exclusions of others.
    There are other methods.
If it is via a server you will need to contact the IT guys and gals about what they have open and whether they will allow others.

  • Can't send emails using .mac accounts? Finally the solution!!! Nice & Easy!

Found this after searching these discussions for over an hour, and it really works, but you MUST create a new account, don't edit your existing one. Very quick & easy!!! Here you go, courtesy of Guillermo Toro-Lira:
OK guys, problem solved, at least for those with a dotMac account like me.
You have to create a new MobileMe account in your iPhone using your new MobileMe email address ( [email protected] instead of [email protected] ).
Select Add Account... on Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then MobileMe, enter your name, MobileMe address, password and description and select Save. The system will validate your account first. Then go back to Accounts, select your dotMac account and select delete. Your new mails, contacts, calendars will be sync'd by your new MobileMe account.
It looks like iPhone classic 2.0 requires your new MobileMe address ([email protected]) to send emails.

I accessed my .Mac account with the iPhone's mail client with my first generation iPhone for over a year including for a while after the change to MM before I purchased my iPhone 3G.
The first generation iPhone and the iPhone 3G are capable of running the same firmware so there is no difference between the two in this regard. To say the first generation iPhone requires creating and accessing the @Me account instead of the @Mac account is incorrect.
If this is true with many, how come not a single person has chimed in with this thread saying the same thing?

  • How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini

How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini?
On my PC I simply have a master return email address and use a POP for the secondary address.  Both are through the one exchange account without a problem.  I need to be able to do the same on my Ipad.

Ah, I should have made that clear.  My domain didn't come from google.  It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail.  I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).
Gmail has an option that lets someone with custom domains send (and receive) email through gmail using the custom domain once Google confirms proper ownership of the domain (to prevent spammers and such).  Gmail has a setting for "send email as" which allows gmail to be sent using a custom domain as the sender.  I'm pretty sure Apple's old mobileme had this feature too, but I didn't use it.

MacBook Airs won't run Classic, nor will Classic connect to iCloud accounts.    You will need your Mac OS X version to answer the question involved.    Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac, and post in the appropriate forum in the link below:

can  not send mail using wifi at a motel .I can receive mail fine

    Hi there tamarafromdarien,
You may find the troubleshooting steps for iCloud Mail in the article below helpful.
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail
If you can't send mail in OS X Mail
If you receive this alert or a similar alert when sending a message from your iCloud email address in OS X Mail:
“This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The reason for the failure is: An error occurred while delivering this message via the smtp server: server name.”
In OS X Mail, choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
Click Accounts in the Preferences window.
Select your iCloud account from the list of accounts.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Choose your iCloud account from the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu. Example: “Derrick Parker (iCloud)”.
Note: The Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) menu also includes an Edit SMTP Server List command. If you choose this command, be aware that the iCloud SMTP server won't be among the servers that can be edited. This is normal.
If you're attaching a large file
Message attachments can't exceed the maximum size allowed by your email service provider or the recipient's email service provider. The maximum size varies by service provider. Try compressing the filebefore sending it, or send your message without the attachment to verify that there are no issues with sending.

  • Can't send email from iCloud accounts on Mac

A few hours ago I couldn't login and receive email to my icloud accounts this appears to have been fixed but I still cant send email. I've checked all passwords in preferences.
I can login to icloud via the browser and send email Ok.
I can send email from my iCloud accounts on my iPhone.
But can't send mail using Sparrow or Mac Mail on the desktop.
This all seems to have happened since I installed the latest security update.

    Using smtp.mail.me.com - also tried smtp.me.com
    SSL yes
    port 587
    SMTP Authentification Yes
Security SLS/TLS - also tried STARTTLS
User full **@me.com email address - also tried user name without @me.com
I have spoken to apple support this afternoon and we tried the variations shown above.
Support told me to wait for a day and try again!
After the iCloud authentication problem last night I changed all my passwords I wonder if there is an SMTP problem at me.com perhaps not reading the updated passwords?
I'll try and use the old passwords later.

Is there something wrong with the code, I'm not aware of anything that would make it directory specfic. Permissions are the same on /tmp as the new directory /NRS/Data/SystemX which I'm trying to send the file from now.

    well
if u see the end of ur mail it shows the attachment dir there in which u have specified the address..why don't u do a change there or better have some in parameteres in the procedure for it..that would help in choosing the attachment directory on users wish?
hope i am getting the problem right..if not kindly correct me in understanding the problem.
