Can't send Attachments using Mail to connect toe Exchange Server 2007

I struggle to send any emails with even the smallest of attachments via Mac Mail using Exchange 2007. I receive mail ok (intermittently slow but ok) although the Exchange Account does beach ball alot when checking for new mail. However, replying or sending an email that contains an attachment, even a small logo is a nightmare.

 I am using Mail 4.4 on Mac OS X 10.6.6 on an iMac. We use Exchange 2007 and it's run and managed by Microsoft "Microsoft Business Productivity Online Standard Suite" We are not allowed to change server settings. I am the only one in a small, remote-workforce company that lives in the UK and I keep being told that is the issue. However, I've found too many people with similar problems on the web to believe that, but I haven't found an answer. Any ideas??

I've got 38 iPhones deployed running the 3.1.2 OS against an Exchange 2007 server. Several of my users complain about the same issue, and I've seen it myself. I have found a workaround of sorts - I've found that if I've sent a message with an attachment and I get a failure to send, if I manually browse down to the Sent Items folder, that forces a replication of the Sent Items. The next time I do a manual sync, the e-mail with the attachment will go.
I presume this has something to do with Exchange trying to put a copy of the e-mail in to your Sent Items at the same time the iPhone is trying to send the message.
Potentially, this might be solved by turning off the option to always store your sent e-mails in the Sent Items. I have not yet tested that as a workaround as from a corporate standpoint and an ease-of-use standpoint, we want that e-mail in the Sent Items for reference.
If anyone has any success with this fix, please let me know.

  • Can't Send Attachments Using Exchange Account

    For some reason I can't send attachments using my Exchange account on my iPhone. Pictures, Word docs, Excel Docs, doesn't matter. They just get stuck in my out box and I get the following message, "Cannot Send Mail - An error occurred while delivering this message." I can receive attachments just fine, but cannot send or forward them. If I use any of the other email accounts on my phone, it works fine. The Exchange account is the only issue. Is this some limitation with Exchange on an iPhone or something? Anyone ever have the same problem as was able to fix it? Thanks!

  • Can't send attachments in mail since upgrading

    Hi-
    Since upgrading, I can't send attachements in Mail.  The filenames appear all grayed out and they can't be highlighted.  In order to attach, I have to open through Finder and drag over into Mail.
    What gives?
    s

    Usability and interface issues with Gmail aside, I did figure something out. (I don't really use Gmail, it just seemed like a good at the time when I was setting up an account for a friend so I could help out with issues.)
    I couldn't add attachments to a new message either. In fact, when I clicked the link to add an attachment, the link disappeared. I discarded the message, opened a new one, click the add attachment link, and the link disappeared again.
    Turning off the blocking of pop-up windows didn't change the outcome.
    So I opened a new message and looked around.
    I noticed a little icon in the upper right of the message, just above the To: field, a sort of double square with an arrow in it. It looked almost like icon used on Windows to indicate maximizing the window for full screen, except it had an arrow that looked like the "Forward" arrow when you want to forward a message instead of replying. No tool tip came up so I decided to try it.
    This made the message disappear, and popped open a new smaller window which eventually loaded the message. Looked about the same as before but without the rest of Gmail. Curiously, the add attachments link actually worked, without disappearing. A dialog popped open (looked like from the OS, not a browser window) and I was able to select a file. It appeared listed below the subject and above the message, with a progress indicator that took several seconds (half a minute?) before any progress happened. It did eventually get started and completed the upload.

  • I can't send attachments with MAIL

    Please help me. Since I have installed Leopard, I have problems to send attachments by mail. People to whom I send, they don't receive them.
    Does anybody have any idea about to solve this trouble?
    Andrea from Italy

    so you look in your Sent folder and the email with attachment is shown as sent, and you do not receive an error message on your computer.
    then i would say it is purely a recipient error, and i am not sure how we can help on these pages not knowing what system they use or if on the web. do you have a friend to whom you can send an attachment that also uses a mac by any chance? does he/she receive the attachment fine, or no attachment either?
    hope this helps

  • Mail constantly crashing while connected to Exchange Server 2007

    A few of us at my workplace got 10.6 when it released because we were so excited about the native Exchange 2007 support. The problem that I have been having is that Mail constantly crashes at (seemingly) random times, even when I'm not actively using the application. I also loaded 10.6 onto my MBP but I don't think it has ever crashed while using Mail on the same Exchange account (inside or outside of the office).
    One other co-worker occasionally has Mail crash but he said maybe once per day. Mine is at least 5-6 times per day. Set up of the accounts has been flawless but the constant crashing is a pain.
    Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening or how to fix it?

    Try this - find the /Library/Preferences folder in your user/Home folder and then locate and delete this file:
    com.apple.mail.plist
    *Caution* - doing this may clear your account settings so be sure to note those first in the event you are required to reconfigure, etc.

  • Apple Mail random messages disappear Exchange Server 2007

    I've had this problem for several months and have been biting the bullet. I am a tech at ASU.
    Seemingly random messages don't appear in my inbox. From any source or domain.
    I have noticed some consistency in that messages are more likely to disappear if I have viewed them with a blackberry. Also, after a reply, I am more likely to not see the original message.
    *I think the problem is related to synching, not sure if it's on the Mail client or an exchange server setting.*
    I have tried rebuilding everything, changing my settings to not delete or move things --no rules etc.
    I have observed this phenomena when the blackberry is out of the equation. I have observed it after a fresh install of Leopard. It has been close to a year. Out exchange admins are not familiar with AppleMail and are not inclined to change any settings to be more Mail friendly.
    I am willing to keep my exchange mailbox down to a certain size, apply whatever changes or third party synch clients if it will resolve the issue. This is clearly a incompatibility with Exchange and Mail, but the rest of my peers at the University do not have this issue :/
    Your help and advice would be sooooo appreciated, you have no idea. Thanks ~Steve

    I have the latest version of Snow Leopard, 6.1, installed. I've been trying to hook up Mail to our Exchange 2003 server for a few days with no luck. Any hints? I've trying to use the same settings I have in my Entourage account. No dice. I've tried both Exchange 2007 and Exchange IMAP.
    Anything I should know besides our Exchange server address? I've tried from within the Company and from my home. The message I get is always the same:
    +"The Exchaange IMAP server "xxx" is not responding. Try checking the network connection, and that the server name is correct. Otherwise, the server might be temporarily unavailable. If you continue, you might not be able to receive messages"+
    Maybe something needs to be done at the server end to accept Apple Mail?
    Anyway, any hints are welcome.
    Thank you, Cerrense

  • Can't Send messages using mail on Bell South DSL

    My parents are using Bell South DSL and a Net Gear Wireless Router. I have a Linksys Wireless Router living in GA and everything works fine. Any ideas what is going on here?
    I receive all my email, I just can't send messages.

    Ernie,
    Greetings! I found this thread after trying in vain to set up my mom's email, which also stopped working with Bellsouth after the upgrade to 10.5 (now on 10.5.1). Email conversion was fine, and she, like others here, could receive mail but not send it.
    I have followed the directions here to the letter. Still no such luck. To clarify, mail.bellsouth.net, port 25, no authentication is the only entry in her outgoing mail server list (and it's selected). Moreover, when she checks Connection Doctor, it passes with flying colors - even connecting for outgoing email.
    Still pondering this one. I'm about "this close" to getting her a Gmail account (which I tested using my account - and it works fine, even IMAP). Of course if she can keep her existing account I think she'd prefer that, but I say go with whatever works ... !
    Other troubleshooting thoughts welcome!
    - Joe

  • How can I script out automatic mail profile connection to Exchange 2013

    We use a program called Desktop Authority 9.1 that is a fully featured kixstart based logon user profile customization tool.  It does a full gamout of things like map drives, folder redirection, import registry edits, run silent application installers,
    and of course create the Outlook profile.
    There's no issues with this tool creating an outlook profile internally to mail.domain.com, and even detecting laptops and configuring it for outlook anywhere to webm.domain.com and cached mode.
    Issue I'm having is trying to roll out Exchange 2013.  This tool simply does not seem to create the mail profile.  On a test computer I have the hosts file pointed to the new 2013 server from these names: webm, mail, autodiscover.  At log
    on I simply get an error "The name cannot be resolved.  The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list."  When you click OK you get a little confusing dialog box with the exchange server name: mail  and the mailbox: windows
    user ID.
    So I tried to do this manually in the Mail (32-bit) control panel applet.  It doesnt matter if I put in mail, mail.domain.com, webm, webm.domain.com, email (the netbios name of exchange 2013), etc.. I get the same error.  I went into More settings
    > Connection > connect to microsoft exchange using HTTP and in the proxy settings I have webm.domain.com, connect SSL Only, only connect to proxy servers that have the name: msstd:webm.domain.com, and the rest is checked and NTLM Authentication is checked.
    I simply CANNOT manually create an outlook profile at all.  I can surely delete this one, start outlook, click next through the wizard taking all the default options and get Outlook configured that way (via Autodiscover service), but I need a way to
    do it manually so I can have Desktop Authority do it manually.  Why?  Two major reasons:
    1.  If our end users are greeted with an Outlook startup wizard every time they go to a different computer, and have to click next through it, our help desk is going to be overwhelmed with "what is this outlook startup wizzard?" questions.
    2.  Desktop Authority also attaches additional mailboxes.  We need the outlook profile passed through DA's scripting so different users departmental voice mailboxes are attached in their outlook.  IE) Mailbox VM_FAX_Accounting is attached
    to all of the accounting associates Outlook.

    Ok I found another way to get autodiscover to work..
    In Group Policy go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Office 2010 (and 2013 in my case) > Miscellaneous > Suppress recommended settings dialog > Change to ENABLED.
    Now go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Outlook 2010 (and 2013 in my case) > Account Settings > Exchange > Automatically configure profile based on Active Directory Primary SMTP address > Change to ENABLED.
    Now for the shared mailboxes,  I guess when we plan to migrate a department, their shared mailbox MUST be migrated from 2007 to 2013 on the same evening, and then we must go into that shared mailbox and ensure each individual user has "Full access
    permissions" to it.
    Now in Desktop Authority we publish this reg file:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers]
    "autodiscover-s.outlook.com"=hex(0):
    "autodiscover.outlook.com"=hex(0):
    "autodiscover.domain.com"=""
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers]
    "autodiscover-s.outlook.com"=hex(0):
    "autodiscover.outlook.com"=hex(0):
    "autodiscover.domain.com"=""
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers]
    "autodiscover-s.outlook.com"=hex(0):
    "autodiscover.outlook.com"=hex(0):
    "autodiscover.domain.com"=""
    Why that?  Well it turns out further testing when I added full permission to a new 2013 test shared mailbox, yet another nag screen was presented in Outlook which states "Allow this website to configure [email protected] server settings?  autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    - Your account was redirected to this website for settings.  You should only allow settings from sources you know and trust.  (Allow) (Cancel).  If end users see this, you can bet our helpdesk calls will be out of control.  We undergo security
    awareness training and they will question ANYTHING resulting in redirect or dialog boxes asking about trust, and really that's a good thing.
    That registry should I think handle Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013, and we will just have to maintain it for future versions.
    We maybe have, I dont know less than 5 Outlook 2007 installs and they are on spare laptops, so If I want to cover it all I just have to download the Office 2007 ADMX templates for Group Policy so I can change those two settings above as well.
    The other way I thought was to use powershell and script something out to pull from Exchange the GUID, append the @domain.com and put that into a variable that our Desktop Authority application can plug in at startup.  But thats a little too much custom
    programming whereas I think using GPO's and documented registry keys may be a better fit.
    I just have to do testing to figure out what's going to happen to the users profile if it already exists on 2007, then its migrated to 2013.  Will it be deleted?  Will they lose all of their signatures?  I know for many on network
    PC's they will be going from direct mapi connection to Cached mode.  Is that a good thing?  I would imagine less load on the server and network once the mail is downloaded.
    We would plan on a slow migration on a departmental basis.  Luckily our departments have their own user OU's so applying this group policy can be done in the same manor.

  • Using Mail 3.1 with Exchange Server

    First post here !
    I've successfully got MS Entourage working with our Exchange Server here at work. However, I am having problems using Mail 3.1 working with the Exchange Server. For some reason, auto complete of LDAP addresses is not working. My settings are as follows for Entourage:
    " User ID is users domain user name, password is domain password and domain is "ourcompany.co.uk"
    Then I entered ourcompanyexch03name.co.uk in Exchange server box.
    And domain1.ourcompany.co.uk in the LDAP server box "
    This all works fine in Entourage but Mail will not Automatically complete addresses.
    Any ideas??

    I can only confirm that I have the same problem, both in Mail and Address book. It works in Entourage and it used to work in Tiger (at least in the last versions).

  • Can't connect to Exchange Server 2007

    Hi,
    I have problems to set everything up, probably someone has a solution for this problem? After entering my account data the autodiscovery fails (see log below, the password is not wrong :)) I have to enter the server settings manually. Apple Mail was able to use autodiscovery to set everything up.
    So I entered the correct server settings, but the iPhone can't establish a connection to the server.
    As already said, I'm using Exchange 2007, and an iPhone 3G 3.0.1. Anyone had this problem before?

    I'm pretty sure that the combination is right. On my macs everything works fine. Is there another reason why the exchange server could reject the iPhone? Similar to the 3.1 problems with the hardware encryption?

  • Can't send attachments using Messages 8.0

    I am unable to send/receive attachments to people using messages. I'm running Mavericks 10.9 and Messages 8.0. I constantly get send failed when looking at the file transfers section. All my settings match the chat service.

    Hi,
    If it is a corporate thing then if it is using a OS X server it will be iChat Sever which is in fact Jabber.
    There is a good chance it will be Jabber anyways.
    Jabber uses port 1080 to Sending files normally.
    However if Server to Server (i.e the Buddy is on a different server) then port 7777 is sometimes used for a particular Jabber Proxy.
    With a domestic router you login using a web browser.
    Most will then offer several methods of opening Ports.
    The simplest is UPnP as it is an On/Off setting.
    This will allow multiple devices use the same ports - handy when iPhone, iPads and Macs can be doing things in Messages and iMessages
    Port Forwarding tends to have a table where you list the ports you want to open.
    These are then (generally) pointed at one IP (Computer) to the exclusions of others.
    There are other methods.
    If it is via a server you will need to contact the IT guys and gals about what they have open and whether they will allow others.

  • Outlook 2013 does not send / receive mails but connected to Exchange server

    HI All,
    Outlook 2013 displays connected message but when compose and send a mail, the message hangs for more than an hour. Yes if I restart the outlook, the message is sent.  Otherwise the message will lag for hours. Even I am not able to receive it.
    The problem is not faced by OWA. Outlook Web App works perfectly. But Microsoft Outlook 2013 not working perfectly. Folks I need help to close the case with customer.
    Regards,
    AbuYasir

    Hi AbuYasir,
    From your description, OWA works well, the issue is related to Outlook side. In your case, I recommend you use Outlook safe mode to determine whether the issue is related to add-ins. If the issue persists, please create a new profile to check the result.
    Besides, make sure that you install the latest Outlook 2013 Service Pack.
    For your convenience:

  • 10.8.5 is named 10.8.3 in the Dock. Does not show in Applications?
