Can't send email from iBook but can from iMac

I have a iMac hardwired to the Internet with Leopard. I also have a Powerbook with Leopard and a iBook with the previous operating system. My hardwired iMac is the only computer that can send email through the my smtp server for work. It is offsite and not supported by me.
I have changed all port settings on the two laptops but no success. I have even synced all of the accounts through .Mac and only the hardwired iMac can send emails. They all are able to received emails.
I am able to select a new smtp server when the Mail program on the laptops tell me it has not been able to connect. I can then send the messages out through gmail, but they come from my Gmail account. This is no good when I am trying to conduct business.
I have also hardwired my iBook to the same network my iMac is connected too (same wire) and the iBook still cannot connect to the selected smtp server (I did turn the airport off).
Any one got any ideas or thoughts?? Can I create a SMTP server on these laptops some how? I was beginning to think it was an Airport communication issue, but after hardwiring the ibook and it still did not work, I am at a loss.

Are you using the Verizon PW or the Google one?
What Port is the Outgoing using?

Did you try using Verizons mail then in OSX's Mail set the Reply to addy as your gMail addy?

I have 3 email accounts through BT. My BTYahoo mail is now receiving and sending through macmail after reading the forum thanks. However my me.com account and 123-reg account (business) won't send as all outgoing servers are offline and no matter what I do they won't change. Have you checked the tick box in the advanced outgoing mail setup screen to use SSL? This should use a different TCP port than standard SMTP that many ISPs block unless you are using the ISP servers.

Make sure that your username and password are set in the outgoing mail servers setting.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

We use ntlworld as our home broadband provider and main email address. In my experience ntl doesn't usually allow sending of email except on its own network which is why yours works at home. My iPhone is set up to send my ntl email using my second email account's smtp setting (in my case is is a mac.com account and I haven't found any network this doesn't work on to send email).
So my advice is to get yourself another email account with a different provider like yahoo or google, then use the new provider smtp address to send your ntl email on your iPhone.

Who is your email provider? Have you set up your account manually or was it set up automatically?

Messaging Server cannot send email to gmail but can send email to yahoo

I'm using Messaging server 7.0. My company's domain is {color:#ff0000}*sun-vietnam.com*{color} and the email server name is {color:#ff0000}*mail.sun-vietnam.com*{color}, this name is {color:#ff0000}*registered and resolved*{color} correctly in the DNS server of the ISP.
When using an email account form this domain, I can send email to an email address from {color:#ff0000}*yahoo.com*{color} such as {color:#ff0000}****@yahoo.com*{color} and the {color:#ff0000}****@yahoo.com*{color} account can receives this email immediately.
But when I try to send an email address to an email address from {color:#ff0000}*gmail.com*{color} such as {color:#ff0000}****@gmail.com*{color}, the email succesfully sent without no error notified, however the {color:#ff0000}****@gmail.com*{color} account cannot receives this email although I waited for serveral days.
If anyone know the solution to fix this problem, please help me, thanks all of you very much.

Why can I send emails in my gmail account from my mac?

Please help me i need to to figure this out right away!!
I have my gmail account registered on my laptop and im trying to send emails through it, but it keeps saying that gmail is offline, how do i fix that?

GMail isn't offline because I've been sending and recieving email messages all night. It's possible that your settings aren't correct or that Mail is simply screwing up (which is why I don't use it - much to prone to screwing up).
Can you neither send nor recieve messages? Or one but not the other?

My Air is running Lion 10.7.4, and I have used the same details in the mail account section as my Pro that is on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 but I can't send emails I can receive ok. Can't SEND email - Outlook 2010 - Just moved from ...

I use an email address at my own domain, it's my business email. The domain is managed by Eclipse Networking a firm in Exeter.
I moved to BT Infinity yesterday from Talk Talk. Now I can only receive email, not send. I use Outlook 2010. I have changed the SMTP settings to those of BT - mail.btinternet.com
And ticked for authentication
And chose SSL (like it says on the BT help webpage)
And specified port 465 (like it says on the BT help webpage)
And put in my MY BT user id and password
But it doesn't work
I spent an hour today talking to a BT teccie who used remote access to my computer to try himself. Nothing doing. He finally said BT SMTP only supports their own BT email addresses.
Can you help, what should I do next - it would be much appreciated - I am pretty desperate and stressed - didn't sleep well last night as all this was on my mind as I have a business to run.

I only have Outlook 2007 but it should be the same for 2010.
Go to File > Account settings > select the account > change > More settings > outgoing server.
click 'log on using' and then enter your full btinternet email address and password

reset the server, re enter your e-mail. go online and find the server title and then enter it in your phone and you should get e-mails. What do you use for e-mail, hotmail, gmail, yahoo mail?

Can't send via gmail @ work, but fine from home

I have no trouble sending gmail mail via the Mail app at home, but mail will not send at work. I am guessing that the port number could be an issue, but this is not editable as far as I can tell, and even if it was I wouldn't know what port to change it to.
Any ideas? My current work-around is to use the gmail web page at work to manage emails.

Your assumption is correct. Your company must be blocking the ports to prevent you from sending outgoing emails, but I'd guess you have no trouble receiving emails at all, and you use proxy script on your web browser? I have same situation at work myself.
My work around? Use my verizon wifi.

When I send a message to my business partner, everything appears to go thru normally, but she never receives it. email functions normally thru webmail on host gator, or from my iphone. i discovered this because all of my business partner's email gets forwarded to me. So I usually get copied on my own messages. Suddenly it stopped. I have looked thru mail settings (rules, junk) on my imac and hers. I have looked thru blacklists on host gator. I am stumped. I received a new tablet at Christmas and I'm on Verizon 3G for roaming but I can't send emails out when roaming can someone help in my setup. My emails come in great.

What tablet? Are you using the native app on the device for email? Did you download a separate app for your email like Hotmail or Outlook or Yahoo?
Are you using a pop email account like Road Runner or verizon?
Need more information.
