Can't send email from my Mac Book Air using my Yahoo account!

I have set up my Yahoo account on my Mac Book Air but I am unable to send mail using Yahoo.  The message goes to the outbox on the Mac but is not received by the recipient.  It does not go to the sent box in Yahoo.  Can anyone help with this please?

Go to mail preferences>accounts, make sure your outgoing server (SMTP) is set to the right network, not none.

    I still can not send email from my .mac account or a .comcast.net from my ipad. I how 2 people so far that has brought to my attention. We have exchange accounts setup on the ipads for work. I compare the settings from iPad to iPhone from my view it appears identical. I am looking at an iPad 2 and a Mini.
    I turned on and off the ipads and nothing really changed. The emails come into those accounts.
    Any suggestions?

    When you say you can't send...as in they never get the email?  Does the email appear to send?  Error message?  When?
    It may be more than one iPad that has a problem....

  • Hi there, suddenly I can't send email from my iphone. I use mac mail, have deleted it, restored it, done a sync to my mac book, read endless help paged and still get the message *unable to connect to smtp.me.mail . Some one please help!!!

    Does anyone know why my mac/me mail would suddenly stop sending mail? Happend a few weeks back since the software update and now won't send a thing. LIke I said I deleted the acount, set it up again, did a sync to my mac book, checked settings again and still it wont send mail. Received fine.

    I spoke with Apple Support this morning and they believe anything MobileMe related is due to the conversion over to iCloud that's taking place.
    As for other email clients, check with your host to see if settings have changed on their end. I use inmotionhosting.com and over the weekend the updated their outgoing requirements so that a password authentication is now needed.

  • Can I load movies from one Mac to another using the same account?

    I know that you can retireve purchased items, such as music, apps, books & TV shows and load them onto multiple computers, however I can't seem to do the same with Movies. I have purchased some movies on another computer, and want to transfer it over to a second computer, too, that uses the same account.
    Can I do this?

    Films can currently only be re-downloaded in the US (and I don't think that all films can be re-downloaded there). You can copy them over via, for example, a flash drive or external drive to your other computer and add them to that computer's iTunes via File > Add To Library, or you might be able to copy them over home sharing if your computers are on the same network.

    Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

    Your settings for the SMTP server — host name, port number, SSL/TLS or not, or login credentials — are likely incorrect.  Use the Connection Doctor tool (Mail.app > Window > Connection Doctor) to check what's going on with the connections (and to get some diagnostic messages), then review the diagnostics and the current settings with the requirements established for your particular mail provider.

    Install ClamXav and run a scan with that. It should pick up any trojans.

    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you use MobileMe/ iCloud or another server based sync solution like Google or Yahoo?
    4. Do other changes to synced information like Address Book content sync successfully back and forth?
    Based on your description it sounds like you have a 1 way sync issue.  Events sync fine between the iOS devices and fine from the computer to the iOS devices but not from the iOS devices to the computer.
    Try:
    Backup your computer and iOS devices before doing anything else:

    Hi all,
    I've got an issue with Mac Mail can’t send email from 123-reg accounts.
    I know there is a lot of articles on simular matters and some I have tried out with no luck, others are just speaking a whole other language.
    Any help would be greatly recived, here's my situation below:
    Running a iMac 2.8GHz Intel Core i5 on OS X 10.8.3
    I’m using 3 accounts on Macs Mail client, one is my iCloud account that is working fine and the other two are my 123-reg accounts that I use for business purposes. I’ve been working like this for a couple of years now and about 6 months ago I upgrade my operating system from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
    2 or 3 months ago I randomly got a problem where I was unable to send any emails from my 123-reg account, I could only receive emails. I checked my settings and they were all correct and unchanged so I attempted to delete them and recreate the account but with no such luck.
    I then decided to check if it was a problem at 123-regs end and attempted to log into web mail. This worked and was able to both send and receive emails so eliminated that possibility.
    I also have these accounts set up on my iPhone, so checked if there was any issues and everything was working fine. I then checked my iphone details and made sure the same was on my desktop and still no such luck.
    I’ve tried out some of the articles I’ve found on here (the ones written in plain English) still no results. I’m not very IT illiterate and just wondered if anyone else has got any ideas, whether there is something specific with 123-reg accounts and Mac Mail?

    I just had another hunt around looking at posts and discovered that it was because I recently changed to BT Infinity and they had a block on.

  • Sending emails from a Mac

    I have recently bought myself a Mac. I have set up my normal email account (not BT) which is provided through my employers and am able to receive emails at home. Unfortunately I can't send emails from home which appears to be something to do with my Home Hub. I am certain that all the correct information has been entered as when I use another network the emails are sent without any difficulty. When I try and send I get the message:"Can't send the message using server mail.xxxxxxxx.xxx" My IT administrator can't help either!
    I am largely hopeless on computers so any suggestions in easily understandable terms would be greatly appreciated.

    I was surprised as I had had no problems sending emails when I was using my PC before I bought my Mac.
    Using the same SMTP server ? In that case, I suspect you've a setup problem in your email client.
    Can you reach the SMTP server directly using telnet ? 
    Does your mail software produce proper logs of the SMTP session ?  If it does, they should show exactly what the problem is.
    I will try the btinternet.com route but that seems a slow and cumbersome method.
    It shouldn't be necessary if you've used it OK before from a BT broadband connection.

    Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    As you haven't told us who your email provider is, no.
    There isn't an SMTP server for Greece - it is either provided by your email provider, or the Internet provider you are connected through.

    I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
    Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
    Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.

    We bought the iPhones and Ipad so that we could send emails while we are out of the Office, but we are not able to do this unless we can find a WiFi connection. Incoming emails are fine.  We use IMAP, for Business emails just incase this is relevant and I know that Hotmail is POP3.
    Our technical IT knowledge is not great, so we look forward to your suggestions as to how to resolve this. 

    Contact whomever supports the email account and get the correct Outgoing email server settings from them.
