Can't Send Email - Receiving Just Fine
I bought a new Mac G5 and am setting it up. I have a G4 with my mail accounts working just fine - sending and receiving. On my new G5 I can receive emails, but cannot send any. I've used Connection Doctor (in Mail) and the accounts pass all tests for incoming and outgoing servers. I have two accounts set up and get the same reults on both. When attempting to email I get the following:
"Cannot send message using the server outgoing.verizon.net:xxxxxxxxx.
The server response was: 5.7.1 Missing or literal domains not allowed
Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings."
I have checked and rechecked for typos, but find none. All information is exactly the same as on my G4 which sends just fine.
Go to Settings => Mail,Contacts,Calenders => select the account and may have to click account again => should be viewing username and password, Scroll down and Select - Outgoing Server => Tap on Primary Server => try entering Username and Password in there even though it says optional...
Also try port 25 if that doesn't work and try toggling SSL on/off if that doesn't work.

TS3276 Trouble sending email - receiving working fine
I have both Charter and GMail email accounts (used for different purposes). When I first moved to the MAC last November, both types of accounts worked perfectly. Mail was received and sent easily.
Now I am having a difficult time sending email from the Charter accounts. I can receive mail in all accounts easily, but when I send an email (reply or new, with or without attachments), the Charter accounts take a LOOOOOONG time. Frequently the Charter account times out and then I am asked if I want to use the GMail server to send the email. This does NOT always fix the problem.
This is now happening almost all the time on the Charter accounts. When an email is taking too long to send, if I quit Mail and then re-open Mail, the email messages in the Outbox will usually send right away.
I have access to the Internet; receiving email from all accounts is working fine, and GMail usually sends email fine.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve sending of email time?
ThanksYou have a setting wrong OR. I also use ATT/Yahoo mail for some of my email accounts and earlier this morning the ATT/Yahoo email system was down.
If that is not the problem, ATT/Yahoo system down, then it is simply you do not have the SMTP settings correct.
The server address is smtp.att.yahoo.com and you must have your complete email address, [email protected]/net where attdomian is bellsouth/att/southwest(not sure if that is one of them)/whatever DOT com or net for your domain. It has to included what comes after the @ sign. Some email programs strip what comes after the @ sign out of your logon info. And of course you must have the correct password entered. -
Cannot send emails; receive them fine but no sending
This is very dissappointing and has me considering switching phones. This is my 5th Blackberry but not being able to send emails is huge and it has been like that since i did the update March 8th. When is a solution arriving? Also whats up with no sync to Outlook? Come on Blackberry gave your sh#t together!
Hey junit99,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
Do you receive any specific errors when you try to send out emails or do you receive a clock icon? If you do, please contact your network service provider and ask to be transferred to BlackBerry. We are monitoring some SMTP server issues and we will need logs to investigate.
I appreciate your patience.
Cheers.

Can receive but not send emails, this just happened
My phone stopped being able to send messages, I can still receive
The problem seems to have fixed itself. This was a new out of the box Macbook Pro and I ran the setup assistant instead of doing everything manually. Immediately encountered the send problem. Ran software update and mail would not quit, had to use Activity Monitor and force quit it. Could not reboot to finish the update because Mail would not quit.
Upon reboot and the update the computer can send and receive just fine.
So thanks for all the help anyway. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out what happened that fixed it. -
Can't send or receive iMessages
Two days ago, iMessage randomly stopped working. I can still send and receive SMS fine, but iMessage does not work at all. When I try to send, it says it failed to deliver. In addition, whenever other people send me iMessages, it says that it is sent, but I never receive it. This has been causing a lot of problems and I'm desperately trying to fix it.
I have followed every piece of advice I found on here so far, including disabling/enabling iMessage, resetting network settings, and lots of hard resets, multiple times each. I'm completely at a loss as to what could be causing this, as I didn't change anything dramatic between Wednesday and Thursday (when it last worked/when it started to fail).
I know similar topics have been posted before, but I've read most of them and nothing worked. In addition, I think my issue is different, because most of those posts were from when iMessage was being glitchy in 7.0.2.
If it affects anything, I am still on 7.0.6.Update to the current version of iOS.
Ensure that your iMessage is set to receive messages at your phone number or whatever address it was previously set to.
Also, ensure your iMessage is actually activated. My partner had a similar issue earlier this week where iMessage unexplainably disabled itself and then when re-activating it did not actually reactivate. Once the device was switched to a working data connection (other Internet connectivity issues were occurring at the time) iMessage activated fine. -
Hi Just wanted to find out how to send email? can receive just fine but cant send. Using hotmail at the moment.
Any help would be great
Thanksgo to your mail providers setup guide and compare every single setting to how your smtp setup in your settings are set
and if they are not the same change yours to match their page
and if they are the same contact your isp to inquire as to why they are blocking the ports your mail provider are using -
I can't send emails from Mail. I have three different accounts set up and have the same problem with all. The mail just sits in my outbox. All worked fine until Yosemite upgrade. Recent update has not fixed problem.
I have been experiencing the same problem. My mail app won't even open on my Late 2011 Macbook Pro. It will show as open, but the app will never actually show up.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

My Air is running Lion 10.7.4, and I have used the same details in the mail account section as my Pro that is on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 but I can't send emails I can receive ok. Keeps saying can not connect on port 995 ( this is what my Pro is set to.) I have used the exact details from my Pro to the Air in the email account section. Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong? thanks
Try posting this in the 10.7 Mail forum. You'll get more help there.

Hi Nikkidog!
It sounds like this article about troubleshooting issues with mail accounts would have the most applicable steps for troubleshooting this issue:

Can't send or receive iCloud emails
Since I have moved house and can not send or receive iCloud emails due to a new router possibly! I have added a new Smtp.mail, changed the port settings to 25 and back to Port 587.
The reason for all this drama is I have received on connection failed "p06-SMTP.mail.me.com". Can anybody give me a simple solution to this annoying problem? It's driving me mad.Sorry for the confusion.
My original [email protected] works correctly on my iOS devices.
The one Apple has reserved for me [email protected] does not send or receive e-mails on my iOS devices.
An alias I created [email protected] works just fine on my iOS devices.
I can see all 3 address under the icloud settings on the devices but the only 2/3 work fully.
So I was thinking because I have not had the e-mail from Apple confirming the switch from me.com to icloud.com then the [email protected] is not active yet. (However I can log into my Apple ID using the it).
Hope this makes it clearer. -
I can not send email from my iPad . Have been using it for over a year, all of a sudden I can only receive email. I have a wifi connection in my home and have a A T &T cellular data plan?
I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.

iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1.2 stopped receiving mail yesterday. Have yahoo email account. Can still send emails. Have turned device off/on. Have done the dual off/on thing using top button and menu button. Issue seems to be only with main inbox, as sub folders are receiving mail. Other Apple device is not having issues like this, just on iPhone.

Your issue is with the Yahoo email account which is notoriously bad.
you can try deleting and reinstalling the email account.
If that doesn't fix it try the yahoo email app.
