Can't send email; Safari won't load new pages
Mountain Lion has broken mail (smtp) and Safari is so bad, I've had to install Chrome. Is anyone else getting the same kind of bad experience with 10.8? I have spoken to my ISP and my settings are ok according to them (O2), but I can't send emails from the Mail app. As for Safari, even half of Apple's own pages won't load. I'll be reverting to Lion from a cloned disc if I can't get this fixed.
Exactly the same is happening to me and I'm with O2,all the settings are correct as well.I spoke to one of the tech people at o2 and they said they'd received about 30 calls about the same thing,thank God I've got Gmail and the iPhone works perfectly.This is rather serious,please Apple do something about it urgently

My Safari won't load any page.

Recently my safari won't load any page/website. My safari can start loading a website after I restart my mabook pro. And then after a day, the safari won't load any website again. What might cause this to happen? Another application that use internet like steam, mail, skype,etc. is working normally. Oh and it's not only safari. Google Chrome also have the same problem.
I'm very thankful if any of you who can solve this, this problem is killin' me XD1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

I have a MacBook Air 2011, running Lion 10.7.2, and Safari won't load any pages. Firefox loads everything just fine. What's going on?

Nope, I tried the Pacifist route after applying the combo update.
It does sound as if webkit is busted at the moment.
What version of osx is on your install disks?
Not sure, I'll have to check them.
I'd like to avoid a archive & install, but I'm beginning to think it's my only remaining option. -
Safari won't load new web sites after one or two are viewed
I open Safari, view my homepage, go to another website, then when I try to go to another site after that, Safari won't load it. The curser is still a black arrow, the new address in the address bar has the blue loading stripe on it that only fills the address 1/4 of the way and no further. I have to quit Safari and then reopen it to go to another site. Also, it won't quit. I click quit and get the spinning ball for a long time so I have to Force Quit.
Today I updated Safari to 3.2.3 I was running 3.2.1. I am on Mac OS 10.4.11. I thought maybe the update would fix this problem. But it didn't.

Thanks so much for trying to help. I looked at Joe's problem and your reply to go to OnyX. I clicked on the link. Am I supposed to download something, or just work off that site? I clicked on the icon that said maintenance. It opened a window that had the following boxes and the Xs are the ones that were preselected.

Can't send email on users in some new country Internet domains
I have following messaging server:

Last few says I have noticed that I can't send emails on some of international country Internet domains like [email protected] or [email protected] which are relatively new internet domains registered in year 2006.
I am receiving following message:
Server Response: '550 5.1.2 unknown host or domain: [email protected]
After some investigation I find out that I can't send emails also on domain [email protected] which is also domain registered after year 2006.
Obviously I have problem because this internet domains are new and messaging server can't recognize any new internet domain after 2005.
DNS server is working fine I can make domain lookup and probably I have to add this domains somewhere in the LDAP or in some config file.
Problem is that I don't know where I have to add them.The Sun Messaging server only accepts messages for known top level domains. The list of known top-level domains is defined in the file "......./config/internet.rules"
The lists is updated via Sun Messaging server patches. -
Safari won't load any page on my Windows 7 64 bit PC:
Is this another thing that Apple has done to get more business? It is the same way with my iTunes! I can't get the iTunes Store to load anymore. I even tried to send an error report thing and it got stuck on that too! Then it became "unresponsive" so I had to start Task Manager to exit out of it. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there any way to fix it?
I have the exact same problem after last upgrade to 10.5 safari, now iTunes and Safari can't load any sites and I can't load iTunes app store.
With those symptoms, I'd check the following document:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(Itunes uses the same webkit rendering engine for the store as Safari does for rendering web pages, so the same sort of things that can cause a blank Store can also cause a blank Safari.) -
In the last couple of weeks, Safari has fell apart on me. This is 2.0.3 on OS X 10.4.6.
At first, it merely crashed on me, usually just a few minutes after launch. I could restart, go to the same page, and things were fine until a few minutes later. Now, Safari can't load any page. It's stuck eternally contacting the host of my home page.
I re-applied the 10.4.6 combo updater last night and it didn't help. I used Pacifist to reinstall both the Safari application and the WebKit framework; didn't help.
Other applications are also malfunctioning now. Real Player can't check for updates and my VPN client is unable to make a connection to its server. Still other applications (notably Firefox and Camino) are OK.
Creating a new user account doesn't help. It exhibits the same problems.
Any suggestions?

Nope, I tried the Pacifist route after applying the combo update.
It does sound as if webkit is busted at the moment.
What version of osx is on your install disks?

Can't send emails to domains with the new TLDs .care .events .credit
I recently got some of those new TLDs for our business and while I think they're great for short urls and links etc I don't see this picking up anytime soon. Most people I know think that the internet won't work unless you add .au at the end of stuff.
Having said this I now also discovered that my BlackBerry Z10 wont let me send emails to these domains since it thinks it's not a real domain. (which is funny since they've applied for .blackberry)
Is there a fix on the horizon for this soon?Thanks for posting about this @numnut

Some of my most used pages won't load in Safari, many state to enable Java in the preferences but it is already enabled.
If I use a proxy server I can get the first page but any links won't work.
This issue arose after test MacKeeper and I am concerned that programs has deleted something. Also all my Top SIte webpage icons in a new page have disappeared.
Can anyone suggest how to resolve this.
After running MacKeeper my desk top picture also disappeared. So I believe this programs has deleted some key files.
Any help with this would be welcome.
Thank youI have a problem that I just moved to Europe and my OSX is being shipped by Ocean. So I can't reinstall until it arrives.
I believe I uninstalled MacKeeper, but I am not 100% sure all the elements of this program are gone. I tried to find any files in the Activity Monitor, but none are obviously named. If there is any information which file to look for that could be hiding on the computer it would be great.
The only issues I have found to now is the inability of Safari, Firefox and Opera to access some webpages; they won't load unless I load via a proxy server.
Any ideas welcome.

I can't send email from my Hudl with new BT mail -...
I cannot send email since the transfer to BT mail. I can still receive but sent emails sit in my outbox. Have wasted an afternoon trying to get help from BT!

My ipad 2 safari won't load web pages
Hi all
My iPad 2 won't load safari web pages the blue loading bar loads about halfway and stalls and if I press the X symbol and refresh it loads I've also tried the following
Reboot
Restore
Clear history, cookies & cache
Even tried changing different search engine
But it still happens I think ever since I updated to iOS 6.0.1 the problem occurred but not sure
Please helpis anybody else having the same problem?

Safari won't load CSS pages correctly since upgrade & Crashes...
I work on a secure network and have very specific proxy settings. I've been using Safari fine - until upgrading to 3.1.1.
Ever since upgrading simple pages such as the bbc news pages (www.bbc.co.uk/news) no longer load correctly. It looks as if the CSS is loading correctly and has the feel of a low graphics load instead (my accessibility is not on..)
However - it's intermittent, sometimes it will load - but then some of the pictures on the site don't load and I get question marks instead.
When working on site where I need to download - Safari crashes with an unexpected error...
When working out of the office - on wireless - no proxy settings it all works fine - no problems at all.
Anyone else having this problem? - Any suggestions??
Like I said even with the proxy issue - it all worked fine before the upgrade???
CheersI'm having the same issue with Safari and Google Chrome. Some web pages open really fast while others just hang up and park itself. It's almost a mirror image of the iMessage experience I was having prior to the ios 7 7.0.3 release. Safari is also not loading web pages on my Ipad either. Some sites it will. Some sites it won't. I've changed my Airport Express settings to us Google DNS as well and it didn't matter. Frustrating.

Safari won't load web pages while firefox has no problem
Started having problems yesterday and couldn't load any web pages with Safari or get mail. I thought the internet connection was down (it had been down), but the phone gets access via the same home wireless network, and Firefox has no problem loading web pages. Even more bizzare is that the same issue is happening on the iMac and the Macbook: both cannot get mail with Mac Mail or load web pages with Safari, but can with Firefox. This problem seems to correlate with an internet outage - everything worked until the outage, but then didn't work when the internet was back up.
Oh. Another weird thing. When I restart Safari, I can actually load one page. Just the front tab that was open when Safari closed. So odd. I did disable and re-enable DNS prefetching also to no avail also.

My Safari won't load certain pages.
I read somewhere that it has to do with me updating to Mountain Lion. However, when I try to do another computer update (which I hope will fix the situation) I can't because the AppStore won't open either.
I do not have liitle snitch installed
I verified the ''Macintosh HD''
and the following messages appeared:

Disk Utility stopped verifying ''Macintosh HD''
because the following error was encountered
Filesystem verify or repair failed

(It should be 863775 instead of 863776)

(It should be 209234 instead of 209233)
The volume macintosh HD needs to be repaired
Error:Filesystem verify or repair failed.

Safari won't open new pages from Google links
I'm a bit confused - I'm using Safari on my iMac and MacBook, both with OS 10.4.10, and want to open google links in new pages. This works fine on the MacBook, but not the iMac, even though I've checked the box "Open links from applications in a new window".
Do you think I need to reset Safari in some way?

That preference setting refers to opening links from other applications in a new window. For example, if you click on a link in a Word file displayed by Microsoft Word, or in an email displayed in the program Mail, the link will open in a new window in Safari.
To see the shortcuts for opening a link from a web page (e.g. Google) in a new window, go to Safari > Preferences, click on the Tabs section, and read the Command-key shortcuts listed at the bottom of the window. Exactly what those shortcuts are depends on your settings in the checkboxes above. (To see the difference, change some of the settings in the checkboxes and watch the shortcuts below change.)
I'm not sure what the difference is between the settings on your two Macs. I'd go over the preference settings to get an idea of why they're behaving differently.
