Can't send emails help please!

I have an IMac G5 running 10.5.8.  I was having a problem with some emails not deleting.  I would click delete and they would gray out but would not go to trash, if I would go to another address and come back, they would be in the black again!  I did some research and the "Rebuild" was suggested, so I tried it and WHALA the emails were finally gone.  Now I can receive emails without a problem, but I can't send any!  I have 4 email accounts and all of them will not send out anything!  I have a gmail account, 3 road runner accounts and an account from my website and none of them will send out anything!  I have checked my settings and nothing has changed, the only thing that I have done is the rebuild!  I hope I have given you enough information!

Did you check the outgoing mail server setting? Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you use MobileMe/ iCloud or another server based sync solution like Google or Yahoo?
    4. Do other changes to synced information like Address Book content sync successfully back and forth?
    Based on your description it sounds like you have a 1 way sync issue.  Events sync fine between the iOS devices and fine from the computer to the iOS devices but not from the iOS devices to the computer.

    Hi all,
    I set up my new ipad a couple of days ago and all went well. Yesterday i synched it to my computer again and it acted like it had never seen the ipad and I had to redo everything (and lost all of my content). Everything seems to be working I just can't send emails. I have rechecked and everything has been put in correctly. Any ideas?

    Thanks for answering and for the link. I tried deleting the email address and rein putting the info and I still can't send an email. I know the settings are correct because before the synch I was able to send and receive. Any other ideas please?

We changed it when we went to another location, and can't get it back. Telus support can't fix it. Neither smtp.telus.net NOR mail.telus.net works for Outgoing server to send mail. Please help!     Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    Help.  I have the same problem.  I can receive email but can not send email from my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.9.4.
    I have been reading posts about this issue until my eyes are rectangular.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Removing the passwords from the keychain.
    2. Trying the various ports (default set, custom 25 alone, custom 465 alone, custom 587 alone)
    3. Unticking the Use SSL box.   Interesting note, it sometimes self-ticks this box.
    4. Supplying full email name in the userid box.  Interesting note, it sometimes self-corrects to just the plain userid prefix.
    5. Running repair disk permissions
    6. Turning offline all mailbox accounts and then turning then back online.
    7. Rebooting numerous times
    8. Force Quit of Mail and numerous normal quits and restarts.
    9. All software updates have been installed.
    10.  I may have forgotten some of the more bizarre things I have tried but I have not got to the point of deleting the entire account (and all of its 3 years of emails). 
    I have a sister MacBook Pro (same operating system, larger screen, same ISP, same email provider, same power source, etc.) sitting right next to this one and it is working fine - mail comes in and mail goes out. It is on the same network and I have dutifully copied all of the parameters and this still does not solve the issue.  Surely, there is more witchcraft out there that I can try?   New to this "posting" process.  Not even sure how to get back to see if anyone has any further suggestions.  Thanks to all those who have tried to provide suggestions.  Much appreciated but I am still stuck with webmail!  Arghhhh.     You can't change that address by design, but Apple allows you to create another two addresses and use instead they call those aliases and you can create and use those different for different people with the same account. Instructions here

    Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
    I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
    You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
    In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
    You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.

    Usually 'authentication required' means that you need to submit a username (or e-mail address) and password to the e-mail server, when sending a message. This logic is not different between Outlook and Thunderbird, and even with the latest and previous version of Thunderbird.
    Of course you can try the previous version again to see if it solves the problem, although you'll be less secure because you would be missing the latest fixes.

    The eprint service is only used for incoming emails to the eprint center which then go to your printer, you cannot send out emails from that address.

  • All of a sudden i can't send email

    all of a sudden i can't send email with my frontier accounts. it fetches incoming email fine but i can't reply or send new email. it just sits in the outgoing box never to be sent. i checked all my out going server- smtp.frontier.com,  port-25, password and username settings with the isp and all are correct. even tried some new port numbers, was using 25, told to try 587 and 465 but none seem to work. i have 3 gmail accounts and they all work fine. is this a system failure with VZ or is something wrong with my droid x? or some other setting? please help. thanks, al

    Email back to working again. I am able to send and receive with no issues. Strange behavior with email. No apparent reason for this happening other than the weather was bad yesterday, cloudy, overcast with thunderstorms. Maybe disrupted signal?
