Can't send emails; settings haven't changed; happened after recent Update

I cannot send emails; emails go via [email protected]; settings haven't changed and comply with the Orange settings; this happened after the nrecent Thunderbird Update; I have compacted files and deleted many items ffrom the Delete box. What next?

    how are you connected to the internet? try going straight into your modem, could be a port issue on a router
    does your smtp server need authentication? does it use ssl?
    port 587 usually does work if 25 doesn't but those are the 2 main ports used, if neither works verify what port your ISP is using

  • HT5313 i can't send email on my imac or macbook pro since updating to 10.7.5

    First my iMac stopped sending mail. Three separate accounts say the outgoing server is offline including icloud. Then, when I updated my macbook it stopped sending mail as well.
    any ideas? i'm reduced to sending all my email from my phone.

    Under Windows in the Menu bar select Connection doctor. You will see green to indicate a connection and red to show there is a problem. You can click on more details button, but with multiple accounts this is often hard for some users to read result. Except for iCloud account you'll see two entries for each account 1) receiving and 2 SMTP for sending.
    EDIT SMTP SETTINGS
    In Accounts window > Outgoing Mail Server SMTP:  select to Edit SMTP Server list... from popup.
    Select account in the list.(It's not uncommon to find extra SMTP servers listed. When you remove account, Mail does not delete the smtp info. You might need to do some clean up in the list to remove the extras.)
    Under Advanced Tab:
    Apple defaults to the default ports (25,465, 587) but some servers prefer a custom port. Check to see what port they recommend. Gmail for example likes 465, Outlook.com 587.
    Most servers require SSL but you should verify your account requirements. Gmail, Outlook.com, Yahoo and AOL all require SSL
    User Name. Enter full email address  eg.  [email protected]
    Add password if it is blank.(If you have two step authentication setup, you'll need to get an app specific password  more info)
    Open Connection Doctor under Window in the Menu bar.
    Do you see green light now for your account SMTP?

  • I can't open email links on my macbook pro after recent upgrade

    Has anybody else had this problem and successfully resolved it. I have tried deleting all website data in case it was a problem with cookies, but it hasn't resolved the matter. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Oops sorry! I found the answer on another forum site. Have no idea why but safari was no longer selected as my default browser, it was set to Google Chrome  so when I changed it back all works well. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.   • Iphone 4s in settings can't access Notes or Mail.  Also can't access mail from home screen. Can't send email. All else is good.

    I need help. I have reset my iphone. I have turned it off then on. Still can't launch my built in mail app from home screen. When I try it goes to blank page then right back to home screen view.
    In settings for the iphone 4s I can not access Notes or Mail, Contacts,Calendars. When I tap either of the two they highlight in blue and then go right back to Home Screen view. I seem to be able to access everything else in settings with no trouble.
    From home screen I have no trouble I can launch the built in utility Notes with no problem. I also can launch Calendars from Home Screen view. My Contacts are still reachable by tapping Phone from H/S view then clicking on contacts.
    I can not launch mail. nor can I send email. Also the built in mail app is not showing it is recieving mail either. All else seems fine.
    I can log in to my email from Safari on iphone and from my laptop with no problem.
    Anyone have any suggestions?  My iphone is out of warranty. Apples only suggestions are To pay for support.

    Hello All,
    To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
    Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
    Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
    Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
    When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
    All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
    So this fix worked for me.
    After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
    I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.

    I’ve tried using the same settings in my new iPhone5, but it doesn’t work. I can receive mail to both accounts, and can send from the Yahoo account, but I cannot send mail from the alias account. When I try, it displays the message: “Cannot send mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient ‘[email protected]’ was rejected by the server”.
    I’ve tried to configure the POP alias account using combinations of ‘pop.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.com’, for the incoming host, and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server. None of these have worked.
    I’ve also tried setting it up using IMAP instead of POP without success. I tried configuring it using combinations of ‘imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the incoming mail server and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server.
    Yahoo say that if I can't send Yahoo! Mail from my mail program, I may be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port, and that if this is the case, I should try setting the SMTP port number to 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. I don't think that this is the problem, but I tried it just to make sure - without success.
    I’ve also heard that the problem might have something to do with the SPF settings of my alias domain provider. I’m not too sure exactly what SPF settings are, or how to change them, but from what I can gather it seems unlikely that this is the problem given that I was able to send mail from my alias account on my old iPhone3.
    Any help much appreciated: how can I get my alias account to send emails in iPhone5 mail?

    A new development: I've tried sending emails from the alias several times over the past 24 hours, but in general I've deleted them if they haven't sent within about half an hour.
    However, one of the messages I left sitting in the outbox did send successfully in the end, but this took about an hour.
    So: perhaps my problem is not in fact that I am completely unable to send mail from my alias, but that I can only do so intermittently and extremely slowly, and by ignoring the "cannot send" message.
    Any help appreciated.
