Can't send files to budds! Help!!!!
I recently re-installed the latest version of OSX onto my computer.. but now I can't send files through iChat. It worked fine right before the re-installation... what happend? Its not a new modem or anything... worked fine before.
Im also having trouble uploading stuff to websites sometimes... Such as Photobucket.com or Myspace... it works sometimes, then not sometimes...
Please help!
Hi TheSomeone,
Try these two things.
Shut down the computer.
Disconnect form the modem.
Start up the computer.
Start up iChat.
Plug in to the Modem.
Log in to AIm if required.
If that does not work cut power to the modem and restart after 10 secs

How can I send files by FTP with Oracle Portal?
Any ideas?Enrique,
Are you trying to transfer more content from remote locations to expose as items within a portal page? By itself, the Oracle Portal runs within the context of the database so I'm not sure how FTP at the OS level will help. However, if you're attempting to transfer files from a remote PC to upload within the Portal, here are a couple of suggestions.
Option 1:
A. Create a portal page.
B. Convert a region to Items.
C. When you're challenged to upload a file from the local OS, ensure you've a drive mapped to your remote location and pick the file to upload into the Oracle9iAS Portal.
Option 2:
Alternatively, the Oracle9iAS Portal 9.0.2 supports the WebDAV protocol(Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning Protocol) allowing endusers with a WebDAV client to upload content into the Portal seamlessly from their desktop.
Pls. check out:

Hope that helps!

Can't send files after upgrading!
Please help! I just upgraded to Tiger from Panther, and now I can’t send files with iChat. I followed Apple’s instructions about opening up port 5180, but I had to create the AOL IM option because it didn’t appear in my choices. I really need to be able to send and receive files—and keep my firewall running. Thanks very much. Peace.
iBook G3, 1.42 Mac mini G4 DVD±RW Mac OS X (10.4.8) 640Mb SDRAM, 1gb DDRAMhi Muzikjunky,
Ok. Sometimes if you have a modem or router that requires you list protocols when doing Port Forwarding it seems to get confused that port 5190 is open to TCP and UDP. Some devices just seem to work better if you do the stuff below.
If this is the case then go to iChat > Preferences > Accounts >AIM account > Server Settings tab and change the port to 443
This can only be done when you have logged out of AIM.
Log back in afterwards.

How can I send files via Bluetook from my Tour to other phones?
How can I send files via Bluetook from my Tour to other phones?
I have even been able to pair to the other device, but I don't see the option to send/copy/move files through Bluetooth.
I can only send my Address book via bluetooth.
Please help!!Hi and Welcome to the Community!
See this KB:
KB05409 Transfer a file using Bluetooth technology between two BlackBerry smartphones
Substitute, in the KB, the appropriate instructions for your other device in place of the KB section for the receiving device. Be aware that RIM only supports BT file transfer between BBs...with other devices is technically unsupported. But, it usually works, as long as the two devices are paired, trusted to each other, and each have all of the correct BT services enabled for the configuration of the other device.
Good luck and let us know!

I can't send file from my macbook via bluetooth
I have this problem, I can't send files from my Macbook with bluetooth. When I click on send a file nothing happens, as if I didn't clck at all. I can still receive files though. It was working last week and I haven't changed my settings since. I checked and everything was still enable. I installed Mackeeper not long ago, I scanned the computer and made a cleanup shortly before it stopped working, I dont know if it could have been the cleanup, but it's troublesome since that was how I transfered my music on my mp3 player. I made a software update too and it didn't change a thing. Please help!! I don't know what to do!
I guess I'm stumpted. If the iMessage server is telling you that the recipient's email address/phone number is not registered with iMessage when in fact they are, somehow it's not looking it up correctly (as it is when you try from your phone). Signing out of the account in preferences, then signing back in is about the only thing I can think of to "restart" iMessage. I suppose you could try signing out again, then restart your Mac and sign back in. If you didn't restart your Mac after you signed out of iCloud, you could try that too. If none of that works, you'll probably have to contact Apple support for assistance.

Bluetooth mobile peers can't send files to Mac
Bluetooth mobile peers can't send files to Mac
This is about os x 10.9.5 on Mac 2013 late.
For the test additionally two mobile devices are used, one is a mobile phone with some old version of Symbian,
the other one is an Android device approx 1 year old with latest official KitKat build on it.
Both are paired with Mac, so the pairing succeeded.
The Mac is able to send files to these two mobile devices through Bluetooth.
However it is not possible for neither for these two devices to send files to Mac.
While sending a file to Mac each device can see Mac as present on Bluetooth radio channels.
Both mobile devices can send files through Bluetooth to each other.
What is the reason?
How to fix it?
We think we will request an RMA at Apple.Even if the term "to share" also addresses using belongings of other persons
I think giving own belonging to others for use by them is mainly addressed by thas term,
I mean as for the term "to share" its outbound sense comes before its inbound sense.
Nevertheless if the term "to share" covers both giving as well as receiving the System Preferences,
the Bluetooth section should cover these two. Otherwise the naming is misleading.
Currently for sending files through BT to peers works even if the BT sharing is disabled. -
Can't send files with OS X 10.9 Messages.app
Hi,
I upgraded from Lion to ML, and I was using Messages BETA in Lion before the update. Back in 10.7, I was able to send files (pictures mostly) with Messages to any other iMessage available contact.
After the update to Mountain Lion, I can't send files any more, and have a lot of log entries about it:

The file transfer window in Messages shows "0 of XX KB sent" for all the files that I send, but at least I can recieve files from other iMessages available contacts.
I also followed this hint without any luck so far: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19224592#19224592
Does anyone knows how to solve this?
Regards,Hi,
Open Activity Monitor and see if that IMTransferAgent is listed as running (it should launch and quit so fast that you can't read it)
If it is listed then use Activity Monitor to Quit it.

IChat wont send files. Please help.
I've just started using iChat this week and it works great. Everything works like it should except i can't send files. It's shows a progress bar saying it's waiting for the recipient to accept but after a few seconds it says failed. How can i fix this?
Thanks.Hi,
In brief.
Your Internet connection is divided into "ports" - 65535 of them (A bit like TV channels down the same cable).
In addition to this the data is "coded" in to different Protocols (the way the data is packaged together).
HTTP does web pages POP, IMAP and STMP does mail things and so on.
IN a routing device (Router or combined with a Modem) the first few ports up to 1024 are always open.
Web Browsing and Mail apps use ports this low.
I then went on to talk about an AIM valid name (AIM, @Mac.com or MobileMe) where, whilst Logged out you can change the port iChat uses to Log on to the servers.
You have a Google Account and so iChat does a Jabber Login.
When SSL is used then this is always on port 5223 (A port above 1024)
GooglkeTalk is one exception that allows logins on port 443 (Meaning you can change that port in your pic (When you are logged out) )
If SSL is tuned Off Jabber servers sometimes accept logins but then always on port 5222. (obviously above 1024 again)
All the ports iChat uses for A/V chats are also above 1024.
So... Two things.
iChat has to be let though the Mac Firewall.
And the ports iChat uses have to be allowed through the routing device you have.
The Snow Leopard firewall is in System Preferences > Security > Firewall.
It can be Off or On.
If ON then you need to go to the Advanced Button.
In here Allow Signed Apps has to be Enabled and iChat Added to the List.
Modems and Routers.
A DSL Modem is also likely to be a router as well.
Cable ones are generally just modems and you tend to have a separate router.
You have to access the Set up pages which is normally done is a Web Browser.
This is done by typing in the IP number of the "router" where you normally type in Google or Apple.com
Where to Find the IP ?
See also this page at Port Forwarding
Find your device in the list
Click it.
Dismiss the advert page with the control top right
Pick iChat (Or AIMTalk) in the applications and game page.
Read the first part of the Info about how to access the device as there is often an User ID and Password involved
Mine looks like this
After that rather than follow the Instructions at the Port Forwarding site - check every tab and menu and link you see to find out if you have UPnP
Netgears have a menu down the left and a separate item for UPnP (And it is Enabled by default)
Linksys have it in the Administration tab (And it needs Enabling)
D-links needs Tools across the top and Advanced down the side (the side menus change depending which tab across the top is used)
Netopia don't have UPnP (Nor do Motorola)
UPnP is an On of Off setting.
It allows the apps on the computer to tell the router which ports to open.
Multiple computers can use the same ports if needed.
It is also needed for Screen Sharing in iChat due to the use of a Random Port.
I also believe we were talking about not being able to SEND files.
This could be that the other end has not got the required ports open in their device.
As it is GoogleTalk we also have to consider whether it is to the Web Browser chat in their Web Mail page (Will not do Files) or to the Standalone PC app of the same name (Should do files) or whether they are using another Jabber Client (App that can connect to a Jabber server) - which can be an either way thing.
I hope this is a little clearer

I'd like to know how can I send files from one computer to another, because I'm making a Client-Server application and I need to send files, in my program de client needs to send a file to the server and the server has to save the file in the computer where the server is running, and I'd like to know if there's some way to sends files with sockets.
Cleint
1. reads the name of the file sent by the server
2. get the file from sec memory
3. put it into a byte stream(read the file as byte)
4. typecast to inputstream of the rmi server

I Keep getting "your startup disk is full" ..... "You need to make more space available on your startup disk by deleting file..." If I can't have an acess, how can I delete files. Please help..
That means the hard drive of your computer is full, and you don't have enough free space on your computer, to do what you are trying to do.
You need to clear up space on your computer.
If you hard drive is full, check the following places to ensure they are not holding unwanted data.
- your trash can in the dock
- if you use iPhoto, your trash in iPhoto - launch iPhoto, and select trash in the left hand column. iPhoto has it's own trash, and is often overlooked
- your download folder - finder / home user / downloads - every time you download something, it stores it here. This is often overlooked as well
- do you have more than one user on the computer? If you do, ensure they are needed. If not, delete them, and the contents of their home folders
If you hard drive is very full, you may want to consider the following:
- putting in a newer larger hard drive - (call you local apple store for prices on this)
- deleting data off your computer
- moving data to an external drive - (iPhoto Libraries, iTunes Libraries or iMovie events, as they are the biggest space hogs) -

Can't Send Files To Other iChat 4.0 User!
Hi,
I can't send files to another iChat 4.0. I drag a JPG image into the text chat window, which should start a file transfer. But if I look at the actual File Transfers window it says Preparing... And it never stops Preparing... It just gets stuck on it, and never actually starts sending the file to my buddy.
Does anyone know why this is? We're both using Leopard, iChat 4.0 and Google Talk accounts.Hi Reuben
The Firewall does and doesn't need fine tuning.
In 10.5 it was not implemented properly and the 10.5.1 update was supposed to care of that.
It allowed everything in no matter what setting you chose.
It is best then that if you set Allow Specifics before the update that you clear the list and set it back to Allow All before going back and Resetting the Allow Specifics and adding apps back.
It may pay to check ports in a modem or router.
GoogleTalk logs in on port 5223 and uses an SSL login to do so.
Jabber also uses port 5220 for most other things.
These are both TCP
