Can't send iMessages on my Macbook Pro using my phone #

So last night I got a new iPhone and some stuff changed. I used to be able to send iMessages from my phone number to friends. Now a friend tells me when I send an iMessage from my computer she says it says it's coming from my email address instead.
I went into accounts and entered in my AppleID but it now doesn't have a phone number connected, nor is there a place to even put it in. I tried Managing My Accounts online and that all looks fine, with my cell phone number appearing there just fine...
Thoughts? Thanks
EDIT: Update... I'm seeing a problem right away, and it's so frustrating because I've run into this in the past.
I have two Apple IDs basically. We'll say one is AppleID1 and the other is AppleID2
AppleID1 is signed in on my laptop. It's what I've been using for 2+ years, so EVERYTHING is stored here.
AppleID2 is the one I've used on my cell phone. It's fairly new.
I DO NOT need two, but at one point I'd come far enough with each that it was easier to keep both, but now I want to merge the two. Can anybody help with that?

  • Is there a way I can get send iMessages from my Macbook Pro?

I just got My first Macbook Pro and am still trying to figure out how to use it.  I have seen that m friend can send and recieve his text messages on his Macbook Pro and I cant figure out how to get that. When I tried using messages it send it from my email not my phone number.

First you need to determine what laptop model you have; then we can help you. A Mac Book Pro cannot run OS 9.1.
With your Mac booted up, click on the  at the far left of the menu. Then click on About This Mac. It will show what version of OS  you are running. What is the version?
A MBP will be running something like version 10.x.
If you are running version OS 9.x, you don't have a Mac Book Pro.

  • Can't send IMAP mail on MacBook Pro (though Thunderbird works)

I'm completely unable to send mail with two IMAP accounts on OS X 10.4.5 with my MacBook Pro. Thunderbird works fine so I know there are no network issues. The IMAP access works fine for receiving mail. I can also send and receive messages with my .Mac account, but I stop being able to send them after configuring the IMAP account. I've tried deleting my ~/Library/Mail folder and the relevant Keychain entries, but I can't figure out where Mail stores it's server configuration preferences to delete those too (I've repeatedly deleted them, but it seems to remember past SMTP servers).
    I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.

  • Can you mirror iphone 4 to macbook pro using 30-pin digital av adapter?

I have an iPhone 4 and I want to be able to mirror my device onto my Macbook Pro, without using the internet. So for example if I was not in a location that had internet, I would still be able to do so. I purchased the 30-pin Digital AV Adapter online only to test it and not get anything on my screen but have iTunes open. Is this because I have an iPhone 4, would this accessory with with an iPhone 4S, or get the lightning adapater to work with the iPhone 5. Does anyone else know of other options that do not involve using internet.

I use the 30 Pin Av Adapter from Apple, and it works on my iPad 2 running iOS 6.1.3. So not sure what those reviews would be talking about.
Just to be sure there's no confusion: there's a difference between the 30 Pin Digital AV Adapter
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD098ZM/A/apple-digital-av-adapter
And the 30 Pin to Lightning Adapter
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter
The 30 pin to Lightning in fact does not support Video output, but if you have a newer iPad. (4 or a Mini) you can use a Lightning Digital Av Adapter
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter
For older iPads the 30 Pin Digital Av Adapter works just fine, in all iOS versions I've tried it on.  In fact I can use it on a first generation iPad running iOS 4.3.3 to view movies from the Videos App just fine.
All of these will require an HDMi cable and a TV with an HDMI input.  Most recent TV's have this.
The Apple TV will connect to an iPad wirelessly, but is also double the price of the adapters, and still requires the HDMI cable and port on the TV to connect to.
I'd suggest the adapter that fits your iPad over the Apple TV unless you really need to have the connection be wireless from the iPad to the Apple Tv box.
For Apps that don't have Video Output, the only eay to view the is to Mirror the iPads screen, and for that you need an iPad 2 or newer. As the First Generation iPad  cannot do this.

  • Can't install 10.4 on Macbook Pro using original disks

I've backed up everything, tried to do an archive & install, but no go. It said everything installed properly, but then hung up on the reboot gray apple screen.
I ran the disk diagnostics and the hard drive is fine. I did it through disk utility, and once from the command prompt logging in as a single user. No problem found.
I zapped pram, repaired permissions, and did everything I could think of.
    Failed again.
So I tried to do a complete erase and install. The installation goes fine, then at reboot, it stalls at the same screen. It's been spinning for a long time now.
    Any suggestions?
It's a 2.2 ghz Intel Core Duo Macbook Pro, 160 gig hd.

I finally got it to boot on the fourth attempt, and letting it run for several hours. I ran Disk Utility again, and this time it came up as a failing hard drive. So that's the problem.

  • Can't print on HP4M with Macbook Pro using Snow Leopard

    Hello Everyone,
I've tried everything I know...which isn't much...to avoid having to request your help knowing that many people have had similar problems. However, I still can't get my Mac to print with the HP4M printer regardless of what I have tried. I'm using AsanteTalk (Appletalk to Ethernet) to connect to my computer. It worked great with my old iMac but those days are gone. I'm currently using OSX 10.6.6. I did try a parallel to usb cable but that didn't do it either.
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Jim

I recently downloaded HPPrinterDrivers 2-1.6.dmg. It's my understanding that this file is the most current one and is dated 3/24/11. For your info, when I'm using usbtb with the parallel cable, I do get a note saying it sees a usb printer when the HP 4m is connected. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain an HP 4M driver. When I'm using Print Setup withoutt usbtb, however, there are all kinds of Laserjet drivers that can be selected but the old printer always goes into "Pause".
I tried the parallel cable with my wife's Macbook running Tiger this morning and still didn't see the printer. I guess I could try my iMac with the parallel cable and do know that it does work with AsanteTalk. I'm afraid it's about over for the old warhorse but I'll check into resetting the printing system first.
Thanks, again, Greg for all of your help and time!

  • I can send photos TO my MacBook Pro from my iPhone 5S using AirDrop but not vice versa.

I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10 on my MacBook Pro, which has AirDrop enabled and is available in Finder and I am using iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5S.  I can send photos to my MacBook Pro using AirDrop from my iPhone but I cannot send photos to my iPhone from my MacBook Pro using AirDrop.  I have to email the photos to myself via email.  Is there anyone else having a problem with this or does anyone have any advice on how to fix this problem?  When dragging a photo to my listed iPhone in AirDrop on my MacBook Pro I simply get an error notification, which is very frustrating.  Thank you for your time.

Sorry, please disregard this. My roommate rebooted the router while I had stepped outside and now it's all running again.
At least this will be a possible option for anyone else that has this problem

I figured it out.  Copy the picture from where you have it stored on your computer, and paste into the text line of the iMessage.  Simple!

I clicked on iMessage on my Macbook Pro today for the first time, and now NOTES keeps opening up every 5 seconds, with a new note.  I cannot stop it from opening. If I close it or force close, it opens again in 5 seconds.  I can't get rid of it.  I have tried to clear out the iMessage settings I had put in, and I've tried to adjust the Accounts to not include notes to synch.  But, Notes will not stop.  It opens a new note, and even if you ignore it, it assumes preference every 5 seconds, and the Mac is impossible to use.

Do you have any Boot Camp or other secondary partitions set up on your system? If so then try running a disk verification routine (chkdsk, etc.) in Windows to repair the disk. While I've not heard of it happening recently, in the past errors in these partitions have resulted in stubborn ghost files appearing in OS X.
