Can´t send mail on any account

Hi,
Suddenly all of my accounts can´t send mail...
it pops up a window saying mail can´t use this smtp, and it doesn´t matter what I choose for selected server, nothing works.
And if I change the outgoing mail server settings in preferences it does not change in the pop up.
I did not change anything.
I have tried to start new account but nothing works.

For your .mac account, if you are using the smtp.mac.com as the Outgoing Server, change the Port to be Port 587, and test. Although you are using many different venues, more and more ISPs are blocking Port 25 for all but their own SMTP. Are the other accounts unrelated to your ISP? If so, their SMTP may need to be presented either on Port 587, or still another.
If you are having a problem with the SMTP provided by your ISP, then a change in policy may have been accompanied by a new name for their SMTP, or a new Authentication protocol.
More info, please, but first test with Port 587 and the smtp.mac.com.

    Suddenly, a couple of days ago, Mail started refusing to send mail in my .Mac account. I changed nothing in terms of settings and the way I do stuff. Receiving has been unaffected.

    Sure your ISP provides some POP and/or IMAP accounts with access to an SMTP server as part of the service. Have you tried sending with that?
    In an attempt to fight spam, many ISPs restrict the ability to send using an outgoing (SMTP) server not owned by them, usually by blocking port 25 for all traffic outside their own network, which means you cannot send with an SMTP server not owned by them if configured to use that port number.
    Something that often works is changing the outgoing server port to 587 (or whatever alternate port number the outgoing server listens to) instead of 25 and using some form of authentication in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server > Server Settings, but two conditions must be satisfied for this change to work: (1) the ISP must not block that port as well AND (2) the outgoing server in question must listen to that port and accept a form of authentication not based on the IP address you’re connecting from.
    Independent mail service providers not tied to a particular ISP, such as .Mac and Gmail, do allow authenticated SMTP access on port 587, which is the reason changing the outgoing server port number solves the problem for them if the ISP doesn’t block that port as well:

  • Can't send mail to POP Account which has attachment or signature

    Since installing the Update 10.4.6, I have been unable to send email to my pop account which has either a signature or an attachment (when there is no attachment or signature it works fine). I have cleared the caches using tiger cache cleaner. I have tried adding a new user account to mail. It doesn't work in Entourage either. I've reinstalled Mail. What else do you recommend?
    Prior to installing the update, mail worked great for over a year!

    Whenever I press the send icon, the mail message disappears, then in the activity viewer it gives the message “Delivering message / Sending data (28% done) and hangs there for a long time and finally gives the following message:
    Cannot send message using the server XXX
    Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
    Whenever I send an email with text and a signature, the activity viewer it gives the message “Delivering message / Sending data (100% done) and hangs there for an extremely long time and finally gives the same message.

    I have turned on servers, entered all info. Correctly.  Every time I try to send an email, the message comes back that i have not entered my password.  It has been entered numerous times.  Same problem on iPad. Any suggestions?

    also contacted Comcast.  They suggested I download their app for email.  Finally looked into Comcast forums and got some info.  I did a bunch of stuff so not sure which one helped..  I made sure password was typed into smpt outgoing. From setting tap mail, then tap smpt and there will be a place to put password.  Next I took the advice from forum and worked on my email account. I had 12,000 (no kidding) emails in my inbox.  I got rid of all spam, unneeded stuff and put all the rest in a temporary folder.  That seemed to so do the trick. I can now send emails. 
    In the Comcast forums there are also screen shots to show you exacly how to configure email for iPhone 5, though it seems the same for iPad, etc.

    I just bought a 13 inch macbook pro, 750 gb hard drive I7 processor. I can receive mail, but can't send it through my verizon account. My mobile me account works fine. Everything looks right but it just won't send. Any ideas?

    I had the same problem since last Thursday.  I have tried and re-tried all of the settings suggested by the support posts but I can not get email to go out of me Outbox.

    I have the Ipad in the 3G model but I am unable to send mail using my google account that is linked to it. If I was to go on the internet on it and send things through google it would let me but I need to be able to send attchments off the ipad so need to be able to use the mail app. I keep getting a message saying Cannont send mail the sender address was invalid. Please help

    I am having alot of trouble with my ipad(3G) and mail using gmail push set up using exchange server. It seems like every couple days it will not send mail and says unknown recepient or invalid. Then the next day it will work. I've deleted and set up the email account a few times. Same thing happens. If I just use a normal non push gmail account that works fine, but I'd like the gmail push to work. I have a strong wireless signal when this happens.
    Any ideas?

    I saw this problem posted before but the answer didn't solve it for me. I don't have a .Mac account but I use pop mail for my email from my web-based email.     This is only a guess, as there is no host "smtp-bounce.mac.com": your mailserver smtpout09-04.prod.mesa1.secureserver.net is currently listed at least at one blacklist service (take a look here http://tqmcube.com/cgi-bin/rbltqm?ip=64.202.165.17 to verify) as a spammer.
    I am not sure about the technology Apple uses to prevent SPAM, but it technically would be possible to check for listed servers before establishing a connection and saying "HELO" with a faked hostname (smtp-bounce.mac.com in that case) and bouncing all mail.
    The second possibility is, of course, that the given error "User unknown" is correct, and the user imply does not exist.
    Try figuring this out by sending mail to .Mac users using an alternative mail provider or SMTP-server.

  • I can't send mail with IMAP account

    I have two accounts set up on my iPad, a POP account and and IMAP account. I can send emails on the POP account ok but not from the IMAP account. It is a new email address and I could send emails from it but now it has stopped sending. It says the recipient was rejected by the server or the sender was rejected by the server. No settings have been changed.
    Any ideas?

    i think to see al the Sent mailbox present both in the main section both in the imap tree. (see pictures from http://www.pv.infn.it/~bellomo/archivio/Picture%201.png and http://www.pv.infn.it/~bellomo/archivio/Picture%203.png) i've tried to change and use any of the Sent folder as Mail Sent folder from menu, i can change them but trying to send a mail always leave the Sent folder without messages.
    Notice that a couple of mails have been copied to Sent folder .... but others not: is so strange !!!
    I've tried just after one mail was copied and get the other one not ...

    Hi. I'm using Mail to consolidate various email accounts, and have been having trouble making one of them work.
    The connection doctor says it's online and the hosting company for the website says I have the right settings, but it just seems to keep giving me this error message:
    And then I have to send it through a different account, which is all sorts of frustrating, as well as debilitating to the business image.
    the smtp outgoing setting I was told to use is mail.pepcrealfood.co.uk, which the doctor says is online, as I said. And now I'm being advised to talk to my service provider about it. Any help available out there?

    I am able to receive mail but not send it.
    I have 4 smtp servers and none of them will work. I have read everything I could find to fix this. I have deleted the servers using the edit server option and re-entered them.
    Does anyone have any idea or suggestions?

    I just spoke with my ISP and the smtp and port settings have been changed. When I changed them on my laptop the problem was resolved. This still doesn't explain why the problem only occurs on the laptop but at least it is working again.

  • Can't send mail, says all accounts are offline...

    I have been trying to send emails all day, and for some reason it is not doing it. It says that my accounts are offline, and when I run Connection Doctor, it won't fix anything at all! AHH!! I don't know what to do at all, I have 5 different accounts, and none of them work. My firewall is not the problem, and I don't know what to go from here.
    It used to work, I installed Leopard last week, and everything was fine until now.

    You need to provide more information. What kind of email (POP or IMAP)? What is your network configuration like? Can you access other online resources? Is your email available via the web, and if so, can you get to it now?

  • Migrating from Entourage and now can't send mail except from  Mac account

    I've just started using Mail after using Entourage for many years and I must say it's been a frustrating start (having separate applications for Mail, Address Book and Calendar is a pita so far). But most importantly I can't get Mail to allow me to send mail from any account other than from my .Mac account (no problems receiving mail). I'm using the same outgoing server settings as in Entourage but no joy - I get an error message saying it can't use the outgoing server. I have no problems with this in Entourage. For example, from Entourage I can send mail using my BT Internet account or my Bulldog Home account using the following outgoing mail server settings:
    SMTP SERVER: mail.bulldoghome.com
    ACCOUNT ID: [email protected]
    PASSWORD: my email password
    Also, how do I access my hotmail?

    Ok here's another one. When I delete a mail retrieved from a non Mac mail account (eg my BT Internet account) and empty my Trash in Mail it does not delete the email off the (BT Internet) server. I have not checked "remove copy from server after retrieving a message" so that I can access the email from multiple locations. But when I do delete it I obviously want it removed from the server.

    I have a pop3 and gmail accounts setup up on my 3Gs iphone. My problem is that I can't send mail via any wi fi connection. I can receive mail via wi fi and both send and recieve via 3G .

    It is my home wifi I am having the problem with. I was able to send and receive with my iphone 3G model from my home wifi, but since I upgraded to 3Gs, I can't send email thro my home wifi, so I have to dosable wifi and then send via 3G, a bit frustrating. Any suggestions as it worked fine when I had the 3G iphone??

  • Cannot send mail from any mail account

    I have a Mac Mini, late 2014 model, running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2.   I have constant difficulty sending mail from any of my mail accounts; these are iCloud, Googlemail, Yahoo and a personal one which uses 123-reg.co.uk.  I am currently located in Greece, but have been having trouble for ages, even in the UK.  I can receive mail, but I don't seem able to send it.  Error message is usually simply cannot send mail using this server, select a different server.  However, when connection doctor is run, all servers appear to be connected and I am logged in.  Any ideas please?
