Can't send mail since password change

Yesterday I changed my yahoo password and now I can receive emails on my itouch but I can't send them - it says the username or password is incorrect. I know they are both correct.
I've tried going through settings but when I touch Outgoing Mail Server, then Primary Server, I can't change anything on the screen because it's greyed out.
Any suggestions in simple terms please because I'm definitely no techy, would be gratefully appreciated!

Hi Lizzie have you tried deleting your email mail account on your itouch and then resyncing with your main computer.
On your itouch go to:
settings
mail, contacts & calendar
click on email address that is synced with itouch (underneath Accounts)
then scroll down and at the bottom of this page on a red banner it says 'Delete Account'
You could then resync your itouch using the method described in my earlier post (through the info tab on your summary page)
Good luck this worked for me when I couldn't remember my password to set up email directly on the itouch

• Can't Send Mail Since Updating To Leopard

I can get, but can't send mail using Apple mail with my local server running on port 110. Never had a problem with Tiger. Thunderbird works fine. My .mac account also works with both Apple mail and Thunderbird.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
Most likely your local SMTP requires no separate Authentication, but in upgrading to Leopard, the settings have been changed. In Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, click on the arrows beside the name of the smtp, and choose Edit Servers. Then under the Advanced Tab, check that the Port is 25, and choose Authentication of None, and without any entries for Username or Password. It should now work, but if you have knowledge that the SMTP should somehow be separately authenticated, tell who the provider of this SMTP is?

• Can't send mail since 10.4.6 update

Since updating my OS to 10.4.6 I can't send mail. I can receive mail and I can browse online. But mail will not go out. I've verified all the Outgoing Mail Server info SEVERAL times and have had no luck. I've enabled Entourage to handle mail instead of MacMail and it won't work either. Totally stumped.
Same thing has happened on my iBook G4 laptop by the way. I'm convinced that the update has something to do with this.

INTERNET CONNECTION LOST
so... since the 10.4.6 update once my computers fall asleep the connection to my wireless router is lost. (mail seems to be working ok, when i have an internet connection...)
I have tried multiple things to fix this. Thus far the only solution seems to be resetting the router to use connect back to the internet. Once this is done the internet connection works fine, until lost or the computers go to sleep. When i wake the computer i have to do it all over again... and on top of it the post link is missing on all the pages!!! so i am replying here.
So this time I have rebooted to my external drive with the previous version (10.4.5) to see if indeed it is the 10.4.6 update that seems to have hosed this connection somehow.
HELP please, this is terrible annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this?
thank you.

• Can't send mail since 4/2/08 Quicktime update

Don't know if it's coincidence or not - but since I updated my Macbook this morning, the "Send" button in mail is continuously grayed out. I sent mail last night, so it was OK before applying the update.
Everything else seems to work OK.
Ideas on why I can't send mail now?

Ok - this is a weird one. Looks like something zapped my Gmail SMTP account, and defaulted to "none" for SMTP.
Had to completely build my Gmail SMTP settings again.

• Can't send mail since the ios 4 update.

Since the update I have not been able to send mail from my iphone. (That is excluding my mobil me account which seems to be unaffected.) It keeps saying I need a password and to go to account settings to add an outgoing password. Of course, when I go to settings there is no where to enter an outgoing password for the accounts. Help!

I am the same since since upgrading to iOS4. My account details are there, passwords included, but my hotmail and btinternet mail accounts will not send emails - says No Password Provided for the account. Very frustrating. My mobileMe accout works fine....

• Can't send mail since upgrade

Ever since the latest upgrade, I can't send out email from either email account. The error message says "Cannot Send Mail—The sender address was invalid." Never happened before.
What is this and why can't Apple leave something that works alone? Jeez.

I might be able to offer a solution for sending from the Verizon account. Go into Settings>mail, contacts and calendars. Tap on the Verizon account, then tap the outgoing server. In addition to the standard verizon server, there should be an AT&T SMTP server. Tap that server and switch it on. Close out of the settings and try sending your email again. It should then send through the ATT server.

• Can't send Mail since internet connection via USB key

I now access internet via a USB key and although I receive mail as normal into my Mac 'Mail' from my email account when on line, all mail I now try to send sits in the outbox with the following error message:
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
5.7.1 service refused. Client host 80.10.46.95 blocked for spamming issues. Adresse IP source
80.10.46.95 bloquee pour incident de spam. Ref http://r.orange.fr/r/Oassistance_adresserejetee .
I presume since changing my way of connecting to the internet it has thrown up some server problem and I need to change something in my preferences on Mail...but what?
Any help would be appreciated as it's driving me mad!
Many thanks.

Start with these three, check SpamCop or SpamHaus to see if your IP is there...

• My MacBook Pro can't send mail since Yosemite upgrade. I keep getting a message that the certificate is invalid, and it says that my account is "offline." This never happened before, very upset.

I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday afternoon on my MacBook Pro. It was an upgrade from the most recent Maverick version. I had already sent out several emails that day, but once the installation was complete, I couldn't send any mail at all. I kept getting this strange dialogue box that said the certificate for the server was invalid, and might be something "pretending" to be my server. It also keeps telling me that my email account is offline. The only account it shows as active is a Verizon POP account, but that doesn't work. I've tried using the Edit functions and the "doctor" functions, but they seem useless. I tried Help, but the instructions it gave included onscreen items I don't seem to have. This is awful, I've already missed deadlines and am desperate.

I have the same issue. My computer has also slowed down. I hope this isn't a malware. I haven't input my password into it, and dont know what I did to turn this on.
Hope someone else can give some insight

• Problem: Cannot send mail unless Password is transmitted insecurely & Port is set to 587.. Can receive mail but can't send..

Problem: Cannot send mail unless Password is transmitted insecurely & Port is set to 587.. Can receive mail but can't send Code 501..
Need help with T-bird.. My OS is Win XP-64..Have been using Mozilla for about 10 years with little or no problems.. This happened when I upgraded to 3.17.. Spent hours on T-Bird diagnostics web site.. Called Comcast & talked to a net tech.. he ran some tests on his end & had me log into my Comcast e-mail account & all worked well,, so he concluded the problem was in T-Bird.. He had me change my port to 587 & disable connection security & authentication to none & I was able to send mail.. That was all he could do.. Comcast was working.. the problem is in T-Bird.. Can any one help with this problem.. I don't want to send mail with my password transmitted insecurely..
Thanks
Richard

It was not intended to be "snide". You said two separate things that at face value would be out of the ordinary.
I considered if it might be a typo for 31.7. Since 31.5 is the current formal release, I would have to thank you for volunteering to test a pre-release beta version. If it was truly 3.1.7 then it would appear that you have chosen, or have become stuck with a somewhat ancient version. In either case it's harder to reach out to you with any meaningful comments or advice. However I do watch various other sites and newsgroups and I don't see a clamour of distressed users, so it seems fair to suppose that this feature isn't actually broken in 31.7.
And you said XP 64. XP is obsolete and no longer supported and if there is a 64-bit version, then again you have set yourself apart from the mainstream.
I had a look at the comcast site and found some puzzling recommendations. Some users come here asking how to set up a secured connection in Thunderbird when it isn't offered by the server. Comcast are different, in that they mention the ports 143 and 587, and also 993 and 465. So far so good, in that security is actually on offer, but they also suggest that you enable SSL, regardless of which port is being used. It would be unusual and unconventional to offer TLS or SSL on ports 143 and 587. STARTTLS would be more credible on these ports.
Have you tried IMAP on 993 and SMTP on 465? SMTP on 587 with SSL, or TLS, is not impossible, but is improbable.

• ALERT---ALERT since upgrading to last version 1/2 hour ago I can NOT send mail-ALERT ---

HI,
I upgraded to the latest version half an hour ago. My TB is in French. Since then I can NOT send mail. A window appears with the mention " adjunction of // ajonction de" and the blue bar keeps going up to 10 minute. After 10 min i decided to abort, restart TB, make another testmail but same problem.
Please act quickly

Hello,
Certain Thunderbird problems can be solved by peforming a ''Clean Reinstall''. This means you remove Thunderbird's Program Files then reinstall Thunderbird. Please follow these steps:
#Download the latest version of Thunderbird from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download is complete, close all Thunderbird windows (Click Exit/Quit from the menu button on the right).
#*'''Windows:'''
#** C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\
#** C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Thunderbird from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Thunderbird with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Thunderbird on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ Thunderbird Download Page], simply remove the folder ''thunderbird'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Thunderbird:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to open Thunderbird after clicking the Finish button.
WARNING: Do not run Thunderbird's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Thunderbird data, including but not limited to, extensions, emails, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!
Please report back to see if this helped you!
Thank you.

Hi
You need to check with your ISP whether or not the send mail server (SMTP) requires a password. Some do, but many do not. When you know the correct password to send mail, then you need to tell Mail as follows:
Mail menu > Preferences > Accounts > Select the account
Click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) combo box, and select Edit SMTP Server List...
In the Account Information tab put the server name
In the Advanced Tab, set up the authentication information from your ISP.
Good luck

• Can't send mail- password rejected

I just got a new MacBook and after setting up Mail, I can receive emails but I can't send them. I get an error message that reads "The SMTP server “smtpauth.earthlink.net” rejected the password. Please re-enter your password, or cancel." But then when I re-enter the password, it still rejects it. I've read every troubleshooting thing I can find, but nothing will solve this problem. I've checked the outgoing mail server, my user name and password and everything is correct. And I still can't send mail. HELP!

• HELP! my mail account can't send emails since yesterday!!!

I haven't changed any settings, but all at sudden all my devices can't send mail.
Web-based iCloud service works well.
Any ideas?

Check your Outgoing server settings and make sure all the fields are entered even when it says Optional.
Note: your Username is the full e-mail address.
If you're not sure, check your e-mail provider website for the settings.
