Can't send mail since upgrade

Ever since the latest upgrade, I can't send out email from either email account. The error message says "Cannot Send Mail—The sender address was invalid." Never happened before.
What is this and why can't Apple leave something that works alone? Jeez.

I might be able to offer a solution for sending from the Verizon account. Go into Settings>mail, contacts and calendars. Tap on the Verizon account, then tap the outgoing server. In addition to the standard verizon server, there should be an AT&T SMTP server. Tap that server and switch it on. Close out of the settings and try sending your email again. It should then send through the ATT server.

  • Can't send mail since 10.4.6 update

Since updating my OS to 10.4.6 I can't send mail. I can receive mail and I can browse online. But mail will not go out. I've verified all the Outgoing Mail Server info SEVERAL times and have had no luck. I've enabled Entourage to handle mail instead of MacMail and it won't work either. Totally stumped.
Same thing has happened on my iBook G4 laptop by the way. I'm convinced that the update has something to do with this.

    INTERNET CONNECTION LOST
so... since the 10.4.6 update once my computers fall asleep the connection to my wireless router is lost. (mail seems to be working ok, when i have an internet connection...)
I have tried multiple things to fix this. Thus far the only solution seems to be resetting the router to use connect back to the internet. Once this is done the internet connection works fine, until lost or the computers go to sleep. When i wake the computer i have to do it all over again... and on top of it the post link is missing on all the pages!!! so i am replying here.
So this time I have rebooted to my external drive with the previous version (10.4.5) to see if indeed it is the 10.4.6 update that seems to have hosed this connection somehow.
HELP please, this is terrible annoying. Is anyone else experiencing this?
    thank you.

  • Can't Send Mail Since Updating To Leopard

I can get, but can't send mail using Apple mail with my local server running on port 110. Never had a problem with Tiger. Thunderbird works fine. My .mac account also works with both Apple mail and Thunderbird.
    Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
Most likely your local SMTP requires no separate Authentication, but in upgrading to Leopard, the settings have been changed. In Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, click on the arrows beside the name of the smtp, and choose Edit Servers. Then under the Advanced Tab, check that the Port is 25, and choose Authentication of None, and without any entries for Username or Password. It should now work, but if you have knowledge that the SMTP should somehow be separately authenticated, tell who the provider of this SMTP is?

  • Can't send mail since 4/2/08 Quicktime update

Don't know if it's coincidence or not - but since I updated my Macbook this morning, the "Send" button in mail is continuously grayed out. I sent mail last night, so it was OK before applying the update.
Everything else seems to work OK.
Ideas on why I can't send mail now?

Ok - this is a weird one. Looks like something zapped my Gmail SMTP account, and defaulted to "none" for SMTP.
Had to completely build my Gmail SMTP settings again.

  • Can't send mail since the ios 4 update.

Since the update I have not been able to send mail from my iphone. (That is excluding my mobil me account which seems to be unaffected.) It keeps saying I need a password and to go to account settings to add an outgoing password. Of course, when I go to settings there is no where to enter an outgoing password for the accounts. Help!

I am the same since since upgrading to iOS4. My account details are there, passwords included, but my hotmail and btinternet mail accounts will not send emails - says No Password Provided for the account. Very frustrating. My mobileMe accout works fine....

  • Can't send email since upgrading to Leopard

I upgraded a couple of weeks ago. Mail worked fine until last night. Now I can't send any mail. It just stacks up in my outgoing folder. My mail settings seem to be unchaged. I have several POP accounts, and none of them work.

I don't have a solution, but have been having the same issue. Sometimes, the message goes out, but stays in the outbox.
I did a repair permissions about a week ago and it seemed to work. Now, it's doing it again and the tell tale sign is that you don't get the 'swoosh' sound as the mail goes out. Sometimes I press send and the message immediately goes to outbox with no attempt by mail to send it (as judged by watching activity monitor).
Very troubling because I invoice my clients via email attachment.
I have three mail accounts and all three behave the same way. Never had problems with this same setup in Tiger.

  • Script no longer sends mail since upgrade to 10.5

I used the script below to generate mail messages. Under 10.4 it would just send the message, now under 10.5 it puts it in the *Out Box* and that is it. Anybody knows how to fix this so it sends it immediately?
    set theBody to "abc"
    set theSubject to "XYZ"
    set theTarget to "[email protected]"
    tell application "Mail"
set newMessage to make new outgoing message with
    roperties {subject:theSubject, content:theBody}
    tell newMessage
    make new to recipient at end of to recipients with properties {address:theTarget}
    set sender to "[email protected]"
    end tell
    send newMessage
    end tell
    thanks

Leopard is definitely my problem. I have found two work-arounds...both are cumbersome, and I don't believe either is acceptable, but they do work for me. 1) Send mail from your ISP's webmail facility (or gmail, for example) or, 2) I have made a new partition on my disk on which I (re)installed Tiger. I can drag attachments or other info into this partition from my Leopard disk, then restart in the Tiger disk. From Tiger, I can compose and send email from Tiger's Mail app. Aaaaaargh! This hasn't been a pleasant experience for a recent "switcher"....Good luck! Bill

  • Can't send mail since password change

Yesterday I changed my yahoo password and now I can receive emails on my itouch but I can't send them - it says the username or password is incorrect. I know they are both correct.
I've tried going through settings but when I touch Outgoing Mail Server, then Primary Server, I can't change anything on the screen because it's greyed out.
Any suggestions in simple terms please because I'm definitely no techy, would be gratefully appreciated!

Hi Lizzie have you tried deleting your email mail account on your itouch and then resyncing with your main computer.
    On your itouch go to:
    settings
    mail, contacts & calendar
click on email address that is synced with itouch (underneath Accounts)
then scroll down and at the bottom of this page on a red banner it says 'Delete Account'
You could then resync your itouch using the method described in my earlier post (through the info tab on your summary page)
Good luck this worked for me when I couldn't remember my password to set up email directly on the itouch

  • My MacBook Pro can't send mail since Yosemite upgrade. I keep getting a message that the certificate is invalid, and it says that my account is "offline." This never happened before, very upset.

I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday afternoon on my MacBook Pro. It was an upgrade from the most recent Maverick version. I had already sent out several emails that day, but once the installation was complete, I couldn't send any mail at all. I kept getting this strange dialogue box that said the certificate for the server was invalid, and might be something "pretending" to be my server. It also keeps telling me that my email account is offline. The only account it shows as active is a Verizon POP account, but that doesn't work. I've tried using the Edit functions and the "doctor" functions, but they seem useless. I tried Help, but the instructions it gave included onscreen items I don't seem to have. This is awful, I've already missed deadlines and am desperate.

I have the same issue. My computer has also slowed down. I hope this isn't a malware. I haven't input my password into it, and dont know what I did to turn this on.
Hope someone else can give some insight

  • Can't send Mail since internet connection via USB key

I now access internet via a USB key and although I receive mail as normal into my Mac 'Mail' from my email account when on line, all mail I now try to send sits in the outbox with the following error message:
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
5.7.1 service refused. Client host 80.10.46.95 blocked for spamming issues. Adresse IP source
80.10.46.95 bloquee pour incident de spam. Ref http://r.orange.fr/r/Oassistance_adresserejetee .
I presume since changing my way of connecting to the internet it has thrown up some server problem and I need to change something in my preferences on Mail...but what?
Any help would be appreciated as it's driving me mad!
    Many thanks.

  • Can't Send Attachments Since Upgrading To Lion

Not in Safari, Not in Firefox . . .  What's up?

I discovered that since updating to Lion anybody with Silverlight installed has the same issue. To be more specific you cannot send attachments that have spaces in the title. To get around it Silverlight must be removed.
Now I can send attachments once again since I removed it.

  • Can't send mail after upgrade - mysterius backslash in domain

Using Exchange SMTP over port 587 and none of fixes in this forum do not work.
I had a look with Connection Doctor and in this log entry I noticed something interesting:
    WROTE Sep 21 21:33:00.133 kCFStreamSocketSecurityLevelNone -- host:mail.myhost.ee -- port:587 -- socket:0x11867c970 -- thread:0x11b9a4ea0
    EHLO hullumac.elion\.ee
A BACKSLASH "\" in address "hullumac.elion\.ee" ??? ...and Mail gets answer:
    READ Sep 21 21:33:05.323 kCFStreamSocketSecurityLevelNone -- host:mail.myhost.ee -- port:587 -- socket:0x11867c970 -- thread:0x11b9a4ea0
    501 5.5.4 Invalid Address
Seems to me that this "\" is problem, but from where it comes???

Before I finally got it working (and I'm not even sure how), I tried PostBox and Airmail and had the exact same outgoing mail problem.  So it appears that there is something more fundamental in the OS happening.  From a couple of these other threads (and I read them all out of desperation...) it sounds like there's some funky sync thing that has to happen with certain host email configs, and Mavericks doesn't do it perfectly at first.  Somehow (yes I'm showing my tech ignorance) some configs require a login to IMAP/POP3 immediately before allowing access to the SMTP to send, presumably in another attempt to block sending spam by third parties.  The timing of the dual login has to be tighter in Mavericks?  But this aligns with my experience in that an account (I had three that had problems) would receive an email and them boom the SMTP would work.  So I tried sending an email from my phone to be received on the problem account and tried to send from that account right at the same time, and somehow it worked.  Once it worked, it stayed working.  However I still cannot get SSL (port 465) to work - I had to change everything to non-SSL on port 25 or 26.  Even though my iPhone and iPad will work...

    Hello,
Certain Thunderbird problems can be solved by peforming a ''Clean Reinstall''. This means you remove Thunderbird's Program Files then reinstall Thunderbird. Please follow these steps:
#Download the latest version of Thunderbird from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download is complete, close all Thunderbird windows (Click Exit/Quit from the menu button on the right).
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #** C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\
    #** C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Thunderbird from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Thunderbird with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Thunderbird on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ Thunderbird Download Page], simply remove the folder ''thunderbird'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Thunderbird:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to open Thunderbird after clicking the Finish button.
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Thunderbird's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Thunderbird data, including but not limited to, extensions, emails, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.
