Can't send outgoing mail or have file folders
I'm not having any problems receiving incoming mail but outgoing isn't happening. I receive an error message but sadly, it doesn't stay up long enough to copy it verbatim and I can't get the full message in the activity log either. It's something about not being able to connect the IMAP...may exceed # of connections. I have 2 e-mails set up for this. I've double and tripled checked all settings. I'm at a complete loss. Any help or clues to follow will be appreciated.
Here is an article from the bellsouth website that might help out.

I get a message saying can't send message using server acct. I tried connection dr. and it says my mail is connected to internet though .mac and smtp accts don't seem connected. I checked my disk on disk utility and repaired permissions. It just started happening a few hours ago.
Helene,
From your post it appears that you have more than one email account. A possibility is that the plist file has become corrupted in which case one thing you could try is to close Mail, move the file com.apple.mail.plist from the folder <home>/Library/Preferences to the desktop and then re-open Mail. You will have to re-create your IMAP and/or POP email accounts.
If you have a Mobile Me account or a .mac account then at this point Mail will find those account details and open the viewer window in default mode and show those messages. Re-size the Mail window and the preview pane to how you prefer. I you have other IMAP or POP accounts then you will have to set them up but rest assured that your existing mail messages you have stored on your Mac will be there. All of the sidebar entries will show up minimized so click on the little triangles to open them up. Re-create your accounts and check that you can send and receive from each. You will have to edit your preferences. If you previously had Signatures and Rules then you will have to re-create them too.

I put my new password into the outgoing server. I only had it in the incoming server

Can't send outgoing mail on Exchange
Mac Mail—I have an exchange account set up, incoming mail works perfectly. Like a dream, in fact. We are two mac-using designers at a 20-person PC environment.
When I go to send a test email, I get "Cannot send message using the server 'exchange:companyname.com'". Our admin has the server set up to enable IMAP, we've tried a number of possible server/user phrasing combinations in the Outgoing Mail Server field and no dice. Any help is appreciated. Don't wanna use Entourage or worse Outlook via Parallels. Don't. Wanna.
thanks 1 million,
AnthonyI have been having the exact same issues with my mail. Today I went into Mail > Preferences > Accounts
Click on "Edit Server list" under the Outgoing Mail Server
Click Advanced
Change the Autentication type (mine was set as NTLM)
By switching to "password" and using: exchange server/user name and my exchange password I got the outbound mail to work.
Hope this helps -
Since downloading IOS 7 I cannot send email. I shut email down and that didn't work and I rebooted the iPad and that didn't work. The spot settings are correct as I was able to send mail before the upgrade. I didn't change anything except the IOS system. Seems like Apple dropped the ball somewhere.
You answered two of my questions - Earthlink is the email account provider so I'm assuming Earthlink is also your internet service provider but you didn't answer this question.
What is the exact error message provided?
You never signed up for a .Mac trial account but you are prompted to use .Mac's SMTP server when unable to send a message with Earthlink's SMTP server?
I also access an Earthlink account with the Mail application - which is from an old dial-up account which I don't actively use for internet access and I have no problems sending messages with my Earthlink account.
Earthlink switched to an authenticated SMTP server many moons ago and if you have not changed the setting to authentication, this is likely the cause of the sending problem.
First you need to get rid of the .Mac account information.
Go to System Preferences > .Mac.
Remove any information available under the Account tab - .Mac member name and password if anything is available in these spaces.
Go to Mail > Preferences and under the Account Information tab for your Earthlink account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the blue button next to the SMTP server selection. At the menu window that appears, select Edit Server List at the bottom.
Select the .Mac SMTP server and then the Remove Server button. Select Done when finished.
Select the Server Settings button below the SMTP server selection for Earthlink's SMTP Server.
I use the following settings with no sending problems.
Outgoing Mail Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 587 - but if Earthlink is your internet service provider, 25 should work.
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Off or not selected.
Authentication: MD5 Challenge-Response
User Name: Your entire Earthlink email address.
Password: Your Earthlink account password - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.
If any changes are made, select OK to save the changed settings. -
I have quickbooks software. I am traveling. I tried to send an invoice out, using the mac email (version 5.3) I can't send the mail out. I get a pop up asking for my password, I put the password in and it does not accept it. This is the 1st time I've had this problem.

When I send e-mail messages with file by using a POP3 in Exchange 2010 I received delivered message with file. How I can disable this functions that file do not include to delivery message. I use Exchange 2010 only local users.
I think there is not native rule for this, but you could try a transport rule which removes all attachments over a very small file size like 1KB.

IPhone can send outgoing mail, Macbook can't from same wifi
I have a local wifi spot that I spend a lot of time at and all of the sudden I'm unable to send outgoing mail from my MacBook but ougoing mail works fine on my iPhone using the exact same wifi.
Mail works fine when I'm at home, and my house, as well as the public wifi have the same ISP. (smtp.cox.central.net)
The connection doctor has a green light on and says it's connected to all outgoing servers but stil won't send anything.
I've read tons of threads and have stumbled onto a couple hints to add the ISP's DNS numbers to my account settings, but I don't know how to do that. The SMTP servers you're using will probably need to be adjusted, when you send from the local wifi spot. That or you need to use authenticated SMTP (like .Mac).

Outgoing SMTP server says "offline" can't send e-mails
Set up new iCloud e-mail. Incoming mail works. Outgoing SMTP server says "offline." Can't send e-mails from this account. Need info on how to set it up. Thanks.
MYou might want to try signing out of your iCloud account, then back in. Go to System Preferences>iCloud, click Sign Out, choose Delete at all of the prompts, restart your Mac, then sign back in.
This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your Mac, but not from iCloud. It will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in, after a brief delay as it redownloads. -

I'm not sure I know what you mean by 'what settings are you using in the accounts part of mail preferences', but I'll give you as much information as I can in the hopes that some of it is responsive.
In "preferences" I select "accounts" and there are 3 listed:
'personal gmail' (IMAP)
'business gmail' (IMAP)
'Yahoo' (POP)
For each of the above, the "Account Information" tab gives:
description: [username]
email address: [correctly reflects my address]
full name: [my name]
Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
user name: [my username]
password: [*** - I've re-entered to ensure it is my true password]
outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com:username
Is it all in the same format on the iphone?
This is the same information for the 2 gmail accounts, with the exception of the usernames differing. If I click "server settings" at the bottom, it reflects the outgoing mail server "smtp.gmail.com" server port 25, my correct user name and password.
Again, different names for the different accounts, right? And this is the same port etc. as you put into the iphone
All of the above information matches what I input into my iPhone, and it has worked fine since day 1, so I don't understand the malfunction.
Open /Applications/Utilities/Console. Make sure console.log and system.log are open (or see the File menu).
Try to send an email.
Look for new lines in the log files (it should scroll down automatically so the newest lines are at the end of the log at the bottom of the window). What do you see? (Erase or substitute for any personal info before posting.)
Do you use any firewall software or have you used third-party software or Terminal to configure the builtin firewall?

Send a mail if no file in Sender File Adapter
Hello guys,
I have one doubt. I have a sender File adapter with FTP transfer protocol. I want to pull the file every 24 hours. If the file does not exist, there is any way to have an error and send a mail to the client?
Is a requierement to do one interface, they want that XI sends a mail if no file is encounteref in the server when XI goes to pull the file. Is this possible?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Xavi.Hi,
Refer to following link
Read Excel instead of XML through FileAdapter
This has good example of developing module. Only code is available. For further help you can look in Help.sap for crating module they also provide sample code.
No need to call alert from module . go upto 24 hars if no file is received set your own structure.
Give condition in receiver detrmination to send mail if file is not picked.
revert back for any clearity.
Thanks

Can't send outgoing messages using hotmail on iPhone 4
Help! I've just switched from iPhone 3 (where I used my hotmail with no probs) to iPhone 4 and have been setting it up as I had it before. I've added my hotmail account and incoming emails are received but it won't let me send outgoing mail. It keeps asking for a password but when I enter it (and re-enter it over and over again) it keeps asking for the password! Has anyone else had this problem?
So you went thru the apple support link that I gave you and still can't text.
Then you restored and reset the phone and still can't text.
Call the carrier - ?
Look I've been giving you some troubleshooting tips, that I would give anybody else who is having issue with sending text message.
Your last resort after doing all the fixes would be to call the carrier.
Call your fiancee carrier and see what they say. -
Mail 4.6 unable to send outgoing mail (second gmail account and hotmail account)
I am able to receive mails but I cannot send outgoing mails on my second gmail account and hotmail account. Both smtp shows that it is "offline."
Hi Slayzr
I am in the UK and eventually found the problem was due to my BT Home Hub Router.
I found this fix below on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4604180?start=15&tstart=0
It worked for me. If you can't link to the URL, here is the body of the text
There's an issue related to the BT homehub that is providing a hostname that is "syntactically incorrect" for several smtp server.
Here's how you can fix it.
Using your internet browser, go to the address "192.168.1.254
- Follow instructions to reset your password if asked.
- Then go to "Settings", then "Advanced Settings" and "home network"
You will see there all the devices that are connected or that has been connected before. It's gonna be easyer if yout computer is the only one connected.
Your computer should have a name like "unknown-xx:xx:xx:xx:xx ...
Click on this name, chose another name without any special characters, like "macbook" for exemple.
And then click on "apply"
- restart your computer.
That should fix the issue.
Credit goes to vincentfromcork for providing me with the solution.

I suddenly can't send outgoing messages
Through Mail, I can receive incoming but can't send outgoing unless l go directly through my email's online mail server. I shift around between routers in my home country all the time, but when I went overseas for 3 weeks at Christmas, all of a sudden I couldn't send outgoing mail. Now I'm back on my home router and it still won't work even tho it had no problems before the trip.
I read Mail Help and tried all the things it said.
I checked all the settings, they were correct.
I copied all the settings to a new account, checked they were correct, deleted the old one, and it still won't work.
Deleted all the unused smtp servers.
Pinged it and got this message:
"10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss" -- I'm assuming that means something's wrong, but Mail didn't say what to do after that.
When I plugged directly into my router and tried to send, I still got the same message:
"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
Verify that you have addressed this message correctly. Check your SMTP server settings in Mail Preferences and verify any advanced settings with your system administrator."
I love my apple, but I'm getting mildly frustrated. Can anyone help??!!Greetings vermjenna,
