Can't send saved Drafts

Since updating to iOS 5.x I have been unable to Send, Save or Delete "saved Drafts". When I select a Draft the dialog window opens and I can edit the Draft, but both the Cancel and Send buttons are disabled. I can not close the dialog window. If I quit and re-run Mail the dialog window is still open and the Cancel and Send buttons are still disabled. If I run a second app, double-click the iPad Home button, press and hold the Mail icon until the "-" symbol appears, and use that to quit Mail, the dialog still appears when I run Mail, but both the Cancel and Save buttons are now functional. If I power the iPad off completely, restart it and run Mail, the dialog window does not appear and Mail works normally (save for the Drafts issue). All thoughts and advice welcome!

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • Can't send saved draft in Mail

I saved a draft Mail.  When I open it to work on it the Cancel and Send buttons are not active and I can't get out of the draft.  I have to turn off my iPad and go back into Mail to send the draft or delete it.  How do I fix this?

Have you tested bypassing the router connecting direct to the modem?
If not, you need to do so and if the same does not occur when connected direct to the modem, this indicates a problem with the router and you need to check the router manufacturer's website for an available firmware update for the router model targeted at OS X users.
Or try resetting the router and the modem first if you haven't already done so.
Turn off your Mac first. Turn off or unplug the router and then do the same with the modem. Wait 5 minutes. Plug the modem back in allowing it to completely reset and then do the same with the router. Turn on your Mac.

  • Two Mail Error Msgs: Message Can't Be Saved/Drafts & Invalid Text Encoding

My Mail was working fine until just recently. Now when I am replying or composing emails, out of the blue, in the middle of typing my message, I will get this error message first: "This message can't be saved to the Drafts mailbox."
After closing that error box which had nothing to do with my typing, I will then get this second error message: "Invalid Text Encoding....converted to the "Japanese (Shift JIS)" text encoding...."
I then close that message and try to finish typing my message. I've checked to see that my text encoding is set where it belongs, and it is never set to Japanese. Does anybody know what is going on here? Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you, Diane

The following test might be helpful in deciding what to try next: Create a New User Account, and as that New User try to set up one account -- since you have a POP set to leave messages on the server after download. If not familiar with setting up a New User Account, see:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
This will be a useful test to now check this behavior in another User Account, and of course is not meant to suggest a permanent switch to the New User Account, but rather a test of the Mail application outside of your normal User Account and its existing setup data.

After saving an email as "Draft", I also received it in my Inbox. However, my Sent items box does not contain the email. Is this normal?

  • Saving drafts from outlook to my device

    Hello all,
does anyone know how i can view a saved draft created in outlook on my devices?  Essentially I want to be able to create a draft at my desk, then update it on the road if need be, then send it out after the update on my device.
    Any clues?

  • Opened a draft that had been saved, edited it, and now can neither send, nor delete, nor close that message. Mail program stuck there. Any idea how to get it "unstuck?"

In mail, on my iPad 2, I opened a draft message that had been saved.  I edited it and want to send it. The Send and Cancel bottons are both grayed out. I can't send it, nor cancel it, nor get out of that message. Please help.

    Charlie-
First I would select the contents of the message and copy it to the clipboard.
Click your Home button to get out of Mail.  Then double-click the Home button.  A row of recent Apps will line up along the bottom of the screen.  Scroll across and look for the Mail icon.  Press and hold on it until it starts to wiggle.  A red minus sign will appear on each of the icons.  Press the minus sign to remove Mail from the list.  This should also un-hang it.
If successful, Mail should work normally, and you should be able to paste the clipboard to another new message.
If not successful, you can try resetting (rebooting) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.

Sounds like your friend didn't disable iMessage on his/her iphone before switching.  Have your friend do the following:
    Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
    Click on "edit products"
Click on the "x" to the right of his/her old iPhone.
    Click "unregister"
This should unregister it with the iMessage server, which will allow you to send texts as normal SMS.
On your iPhone make sure you have Settings>Messages>Send As SMS set to ON.

  • How can I send a file that CAN NOT be printed or saved by the recipient?

How can I send a file that CAN NOT be printed or saved by the recipient?

Impossible. PDF files don't stream, so they cannot be opened until they've been saved.
You can truly prevent printing by using DRM, or ask nicely by using a permissions password (though that's ignored by non-Adobe software).

  • Cannot Send a Saved Draft Plain Email

10.6.2 - POP email account - I have written emails, saved as drafts (no file attachments - just plain text). When I try to send the saved drafts, the "send" button is grayed out. I cannot do anything with the saved drafts. They're stuck in the drafts folder. Ideas?

I solved the issue myself. It seems like the outgoing SMTP server settings (Cox Communications) was not set up just right. Once I corrected the problem, the send options on each saved draft became available to use. The mail was sent with no more issues. Tricky to figure out but rather simple to fix.

  • After hitting send a draft is still saved in the draft folder.

When responding to an email it automatically saves into the draft folder which is great! However, after hitting send, the email stays in the draft folder. I do hear the "swoosh" sound so I know the email is sent, but I have to go in and delete the emails in the draft folder occassionally. I have received emails back from people even though the message is still in drafts so I know they are being received.

Is this a Gmail account? I've seen that behavior and the solution has been to turn off the feature of saving drafts to the server (see Mail - Preferences - Accounts - Mailbox Behaviors).

  • Internal mail can not send. mail stored in draft folder.

    Hello all,
I have Exchange server 2010 installled on Win Server 2k8 R2 which is running on VMware workstatione. I installed three server OS (2k8 R2) and that server one is my  AD and DNS server. On another two OS, one is for Hub transport and CAS role and
second one is for Mailbox server. In exchange, I am able to configure new mailbox or Database. But through OWA, my mail cant send. User can able to login into server. He can access OWA page as well can access for Address book. But when I send the mail for
internal user, it is stored in draft folder. also meeting schedule can not send. I am testing exchange in lab environment. Please help me to resolve this issue.

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you run the Test-ServiceHealth cmdlet to verify if all the Windows services that Exchange server requires have started, especially the Microsoft Exchange Transport service.
If all the services that Exchange server required are started, please use message tracking to trace these undelivered messages and check if there is any error.
    Hope it helps.

Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.

  • Can't send an edited draft email in ios 5

When I reply to an email, save it as a draft and then return to it to send it, the send button is greyed out. It only turns blue if you either add another recipient or delete the original recipient and then put it back in again. I can add text to the email but I just can't send it without going through those two steps. Any ideas how to fix this would be appreciated.

Same problem here - this worked for me:
Hit the home button and return to the desktop.
    Double tap the home button
Email icon (and other recently used icons) appear on background task bar.
Long press the email icon until it wobbles a d displays a red minus sign then release.
Tap the red minus sign to close email completely.
Press home button to return to home screen.
Open email and you should be fine.
