Can't send texts and all my former texts are gone

Without any warning, all my texts have been erased.  And I can't send any new ones.  I sent a text this morning without any problems.  Didn't touch the phone after that and when I tried to send another text, I couldn't.

the solution that i did was use itunes to restore the phone. and did the "use as new phone" option, instead of restoring it from the back up....
here's the whole story.
what happened was,i have to phones, iphone 4 and 4s,i swapped the sim cards, backed up itunes for bothe in different comps and did a reset on both of em'... then suddenly the Iphone 4s wasnt able to txt or call out but can receive call and text,it just cant call out thats it....
so i did a phone reset one last time, then i used itunes to do a factory reset and after that it worked,i didnt use the old back up,i used the use as new phone, though its a bit tiring to arrange all those downloaded apps again, its worth it coz im able to text or call again after that...
by the way, before i did the itunes reset,i already did all the other troubleshooting steps for 2 days, none helped but this...

If you have failed to make sure that any apps purchased on the iphone were transferred to your computer before updating, then you will have to redownload.
Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links.

i just updated to the icloud n new ios update and all my email folders are gone how can i fix this

IOS is the operating system for an iPhone, or an iPad, I assume you mean OSX as this is a Mac forum.
What version did you update from, and to.

  • I upgraded my 3rd generation ipad to ios 6.0.1 and now am experiencing various issues.  Neither Pages or Numbers will open.  I just see a gray screen that says Pages or Numbers at the top and all of my documents are gone.

I upgraded my "new ipad" (the 3rd generation I think) to ios 6.0.1 and now am experiencing various issues.
1- Neither Pages or Numbers will open.  I just see a gray screen that says Pages or Numbers at the top and all of my documents are gone. The icon that allows me to create a new document also does not appear.  I went to icloud.com to see whether my documents still existed, which brings me to the 2nd problem.
2- It appears that all of my Pages documents are still on icloud, but all of my Numbers documents are gone.  There were only about 10, but I access 2 of them nearly every day, so this is a big issue for me.
I went into Settings and all of the icloud information is correct and it "Documents & Data" is on.  When I look at the storage, I see the Pages documents but not the Numbers ones.  The next thing I did was turn my ipad off and back on, but this didn't fix anything.  Since my Pages documents are still on icloud, I then tried to delete the Pages app from the ipad so that I could reinstall it, which resulted in the 3rd problem.
3- I cannot delete any apps.  I can get all of the icons to shake and the small x IS available, but everything freezes when I click it.  I can't do anything at that point except reset the ipad or wait until it eventually restarts itself.  I've tried this with Pages as well as multiple other apps, all with the same result.  I've also tried downloading a new app (which worked fine) and then deleting that one, but I got the same result.
3a- A small related issue to this that I am far less concerned about is that when the ipad restarts itself, it comes back on and the screen is really dark and I can barely make out what appears on the screen.  If I enter my password right away, it stays that way until I go into Settings - Brightness & Wallpaper and touch the brightness setting (although I'm not actually changing the setting because it already shows that the brightness is turned up a little over halfway).  If I don't enter my password right away and let it go completely dark, then click the home button, the brightness is fine.
So now I'm stuck.  My guess is that I will need to restore it, but wanted to check before I take that step.  Unfortunately, my laptop is on its deathbed so I haven't been synching my ipad to it and I fear my Numbers documents are gone forever.  I'd like to try everything I can to fix these issues before doing the restore in hopes that I can get the Numbers documents back.
Any suggestions for any or all of these problems?

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • I have sync my iPhone to my new Leptop and all of my contacts are gone. Apple ***** ...

I have sync my iPhone to my new Leptop and all of my contacts are gone. Apple s u cks ...

When selecting to sync contacts with a supported address book app on your computer via the iTunes sync process, which must be manually selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, if the supported address book application on your computer is empty, all contacts on the iPhone will be erased first.
If there are contacts available in the supported address book app on your computer and your iPhone includes contacts, you are provided a merge prompt with the first sync for this data on a new or different computer which you want to select.
Were you syncing contacts with a supported address book application on your former computer? If so, transfer your contact info from that address book to your new computer along with all other important data that you will need or want to access on the new computer. This should have been done first.

  • I just updated to ios7 and all of my apps are gone

I Updated my phone to ios7, and all of my apps are gone except for the first page. I went to the apps store to my purchases. It will let me open the apps, but when I close it the icon will not appear on the screen. I had 3 pages of apps, and now I'm down to 1 page. Can anyone please help me to get them back.

Thank you so much.     Wonder why the second page only has one app and the rest are on other pages?  Apple should do better than that.  We spent hours trying to figure it out.
This solved my question but I can't see how to give you 10 points.

How do I not sync notes with my email? I have a business email on my iphone as well as my husbands iphone. Now all of my notes are on his phone, and all of his notes he previously has on his iphone are gone. We have never adjusted any settings or hooked it up to itunes, I only added the shared email account to his phone. Help???

    Hi StoneLeadyFarms,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like notes on your devices may have synced when the email account was added, as described here:
    iOS: Syncing Notes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4191
Notes are associated with an IMAP email account or iCloud account. To sync Notes, enable Notes for each account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Settings > iCloud.
You can stop syncing notes by tapping Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Settings > iCloud, tapping the email address that you added, and switching Notes to the off position.
Additionally, if your husband has backed up his iPhone to iTunes or iCloud, the steps in this article can help with recovering the lost notes from his device:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • HELP!! I had to restore my computer and all my itunes files are gone

How do i put all my ipod files back onto the computer so i can keep uploading more to my ipod? PLEASE HELP

There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it.
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are quite cheap these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

  • After the most recent update my phone was restored to factory settings.... and all of my pictures are gone! Is there any way to get them back??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

After the most recent software update  my phone was restored to the factory settings and all of my photos were lost.... Is there any way to get them back??? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Photos are meant to be uploaded to your computer for archival and storage.  Certainly before doing something as major as a software update, you've done this, correct?  In this case, your photos should be residing safely on your computer and you can just synch them back.

  • Lightroom 5 has opened in a previous time and all my images & catologs are gone?

How do I open LR5 from Yesterday when I still had all my work on it?

First of all, thanks again for you help and patience, as I know this is a mess.
    1.  I know that's not how things work in Lightroom, but I have gone over it again and again and I know I did nothing other than create a new catalog - after that, those specific folders in the old catalog were gone.
    2.  I have just realized something: I used Lightroom on a one month trial before purchasing it a couple of weeks ago.  My Lightroom catalog still contains the folders with DNG images and metadata for everything during the one month trial.  The only folders that have gone missing from the catalog are the ones created from imports after I installed with my product key.  I don't know how this could have had an impact, but I am certain about the dates and it seems like an odd coincidence.
    3.  I know that I have no other catalogs because I searched for lrcat already.  I did not make back-ups and did not turn that feature on but will certainly find it and do so - however, there is an lrcat back-up catolog file adjacent to my regular catolog file.  I just clicked to open that and it warned me that Lightroom would shut down and re-open...it shut down, did not re-open, and now it will not re-open with either the back-up catalog or my regular catalog.
Before this newest setback, I looked in the Recylce bin and all of the DNG files from the missing folders are there.  I'm not sure why this is, since they are also still in their folders in my C drive.  Does this mean that potentially I might recover my metadata or am I getting wildly ahead of myself?
    4.  I did not tell Lightroom to do anything specifically with storing info, so whatever the defaults are is the way I have saved my DNG's and edits.

  • Just updated my iPhone and all of my contacts are gone. What can I do to retrieve them?

I updated my iPhone and it synced, downloaded, did something called restore, and told me I was finished. Now I have none of my original contacts. What can I do to get them back? I didn't click anything or answer any questions until the update was complete.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide /Users/ as the path, and move the files to your current home folder. Alternatively, open the Accounts or Users & Groups pane of System Preferences, unlock it, control-click your account, choose Advanced Options, and change the path to the home folder.
