Can't set security setting to allow it to remember passwords.

reset laptop to factory setting. win7 HE, firefox 36. Was working prior to reset. Now under the security setting the option to remember passwords is grayed out leaving using master password the only option to select. Does anyone know a fix for the problem.

hello, firefox won't save your passwords when you've set it up to run in permanent private browsing mode ("never remember history" in the options > privacy panel).

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

No. you cannot set a password for individual Apps unless said App has that feature. Apple Apps like FaceTime do not.
. You can however use Restrictions to disable Facetime, and only enable it when you want to use it, by going back into restrictions and enabling it.
Settings->Restrictions->Facetime (Turn Off)
You'll need to enter the set password to enable / disable it each time.

Whenever I make purchases on my iPad in the App Store, it asks me for my Apple ID password. I'm fine with this when its a one off purchase, but when I have to make multiple purchases continuously it can be really annoying.
How wow can I get the App Store to remember my password for a short period of time (2-3 minutes) so I don't have to type it in with every purchase? I know it can be done as the other iPad in the house is set up this way, I just can seem to find how or where to change these settings...

There is Settings > General > Restrictions > Require Password which you can set to '15 minutes' - the only other option for the setting is 'Immediately', you won't be able to have it as 2 or 3 minutes.

For security reasons, I'd like to set Apple Mail to prompt me for my MobileMe password when ever I open the program but there is not option for this in the preferences.
I have accomplished this with my other(non-MobileMe) mail accounts by just erasing the passwd from these accounts in the accts. prefs. Apple Mail prompts me to enter those email acct passwds when I open Apple mail BUT when I try this with my MobileMe acct. I will get a prompt to enter my MobileMe password but I also get this error:
"You entered an invalid MobileMe member name or password. Verify your MobileMe member name and password in MobileMe System Preferences."
and I lose my MobileMe passwd in the MobileMe Acct settings in System Prefs.

I assume you mean to connect to a home router ? If so you should already have its password for connecting computers. That router will have an SSID, the name it broadcasts to the outside world, either the original one set by the maker, or one you have chosen for it.
If it is someone else's router you are trying to connect to, like e.g. a place offering free wifi, then if you are close enough the phone will show the router's SSID, and if it needs a password.

dbms_obfuscation does not create passwords. A password is not something you can decrypt ! At least until today (maybe tomorrow...).
you can use the command of chris or simply
alter role ROLEX identified by 'SWATCH';
alter ROLE X identified by values '8E9A9A5413F0B5EE';

I just got my BlackBerry Curve 8530 a few days ago. Im a student at NC State and I am trying to hook my phone up to their email. Because our server is imap.gmail.com I enter my own settings.
I enter my email address, password, the server as imap.gmail.com and my username. I have checked and double checked my password, however it continues to deny my password....what do i do?

It is difficult to be sure. Sometimes, the keys we press don't send the characters we think...ALT, CAPS, and other key modifiers can change what we think we are typing. Again, though, it's difficult to know for sure.
One thing to try is to use your carriers BIS website rather than your BB interface to BIS...sometimes, that is easier since you get to use a full keyboard and monitor. You can find them via this portal:

My questions is 1. I can't find the cookie Manager in firefox (I have the latest version). The article said "Open task menu, choose Privacy&Security... is that they same as under menu bar, tools, options, privacy (but under this option I don't see the cookie manager mention in the article. (I am thinking what they are describing is not for the version of firefox I have?).
Bottom lines, I want to set Firefox so It will ask me each time the website want to install a cookie and for me to decide to allow that or not. I article above seem to describe how to do that but either I am looking in the wrong place or I am not doing it right.

I think that what you are searching be in Tools >> Options >> Privacy >> On Firefox will: change to "Use custom settings for history" then Button Show Cookies will be allowed and you will see the cookies in your browser in the next window
If you uncheck "Accept cookies from sites", probably the sites that need cookies will alert you that you need active the storage cookies

Security set to allow high resolution printing but pdf won't print

We create a large number of pdf files to send out to
clients, etc. We have been using security on all pdf's being sent out, however, some clients are having issues printing these pdf files even though our security settings are set to allow high resolution printing. Any one have any ideas why? I cannot duplicate the issue for whatever reason, the files still print for me.

I discover I am suddenly having a similar problem as well.
I have recently migrated to a new Intel iMac/Leopard, I'm on a network and trying to print to a Tektronix/Xerox 7700 laser printer. I can print anything other kind of document on that printer as long as it is not a PDF.
When I open the printer window it says the job has been stopped. I choose the job and tell it to "resume" at which point the printer pauses itself. Once it flashed a window that said Operation Not Possible - client-error-something-something and then closed before I could see what the last two words were.
I am currently using Adobe Reader 6.0. I would love to be able to try to print out of 7.0 but there seem to be continual download problems in the form of constant connection failures. I also have Acrobat 6.0 STD - can't print out of either one.

What happens when you click the LOCK? You should get a prompt asking for account name and password that has Administrative Priveleges on the Mac. Sometimes this prompt window is hidden behind other open windows.
Perhaps you are logged into an account with even more severe restrictions set by another administrator suing Parental Controls.
Can you unlock any other preferences in System Preferences ? A good think to try would be unlocking security and privacy settings.

Suddenly blocking a website that security is set to allow.

This evening Firefox suddenly started blocking breitbart.com and all of it's subsidiaries.
Under Tools, Options, Security - breitbart.com is set to "Allow".
If I uncheck the "Block reported Attack sites" box then I can access all of the Breitbart sites. Obviously this is not a desired solution.

The list of attack sites is updated regularly (daily?) from the same source used by Google Chrome; to my knowledge, Mozilla does not independently edit the list. Google's report is here:
