Can't set settings or personalize HP Pavillion 20 Desktop, Windows 8 & Office 2013

Question

HP Pavillion 20 running Windows 8 has several significant problems that need fixing:
(1)  system doesn't recognize DVD Drive despite it being clearly acknowledged in Computer;
(2) Ditto User Account settings includin Administrator--cannot Refresh without it or make backups;
(3) Can't change internet connection from Network (there's only me) to Broadband.
"find and fix problems" no help.

Hi,
According to your description, it seems that you are confusing mailuser with mailbox.
Could you get anything when running following command?
Get-MailUser
Get-MailContact
mail user is a user outside your exchange organization,it just has active directory logon credentials and can access resources.
The following artcile for your reference:
Mail user:
A mail-enabled Active Directory user that represents a user outside the Exchange organization. Each mail user has an external email address. All messages sent to the mail user are routed to this external email address.
A mail user is similar to a mail contact, except that a mail user has Active Directory logon credentials and can access resources.
User Mailbox:
A mailbox that's assigned to an individual user in your Exchange organization. It typically contains messages, calendar items, contacts, tasks, documents, and other important business data.
