Can't set staff style preferences

I'm trying to score a choral arrangement, so I need two treble channels, two bass and one for the piano. The style settings in the inspector windows both in the arrange window and the score window will not reset.
The style in the arrange window says "Auto" and shows "Treble" no matter what I choose in the menu. The score window style preference names "piano" no matter what instrument I've chosen, and, likewise, any other setting will not "take" when I try to change it. (I started by using a piano from the software instrument menu for the track channel but then tried a guitar to see if I could get a lead sheet setting, but no.)
I tried opening a new project and copying and pasting my regions into it, but it did the same thing.
According to everything I've read, this should be a very easy thing to do, but it's not working for me.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'd really appreciate it if you can help. Thanks!

OK, let me try again. Pardon my terminology in the last post. I haven't had much sleep and I'm very frustrated with this.
I'm trying to arrange a choral piece, so I need single staves for soprano, alto, tenor, bass. Some of the notes on these staves will go below the normal range, but I still need them to only be one staff, not a double. In the arrange window, in the track parameter box, "auto" displays "piano," which is the MIDI instrument I chose to compose with, and the pop-up menu (if that is what it is called here) now displays "soprano" in the clef field. When I open the score window, the style parameter shows "piano" and the parameter shows two staves in the clef field, "treble" and "soprano." I realize that by now I have tried to change the the thing so many times that everything is probably hopelessly confused. I want the score to display one treble staff, with the soprano notes that happen to go lower (like A3) on added lines at the bottom, not as a whole separate clef.
Somehow I accomplished this with one of my songs, writing a lead sheet, but I'm darned if I can figure out how. I'm using Logic 8. I have tried moving the regions into a new project but it doesn't help.
Do I need to reinstall? Have I screwed things up interminably? Will somebody please help?

Can you set object style to Fit to Content?

Hi all,
I'm setting up a document for an exhibition showguide and before I get too bogged down, I could do with some help.
Each exhibitor gets a text entry, with a logo alongside. There will be a few hundred exhibitors in total.
To make things as easy as possible (I hope) I've made a anchored image frame to hold the logos (40mm wide x 40mm tall), which is anchored to the Company Name. This should mean that the logo stays with the correct entry at all times.
Once I've put my text in, I will have a couple of hundred empty image frames into which I can drag and drop the logos. I've set the 'Fitting on Empty Frame' to Fit Content Proportionally so that the logos all fit nicely.
The problem is that, after I have placed all the logos into the document, I want to make all the anchored logo frames change from Fit Content Proportionally, to FIt Frame to Content, so that the frame will shrink around any logos that are less than 40mm tall.
I can't find a way of doing this.
Is there a way to select all anchored objects, so that I can change the Fit setting in one hit?
Or, is there a way to set the object style to Fit Frame to Content?
I feel that I should be able to automate this, but the process/solution is eluding me.

As far as I know, the only way to do this would be by script after the images have all been placed. You should ask over in scripting.

How can you set ink limit preferences in preflight?

I'm using InDesign CS4 and starting to like the new Preflight panel, but now want it to check my ink limits. I have a printer that wants no more than a 275 on coated stock and no more than 225 on uncoated. Thus I'd like to set up a profile for each so InDesign checks for it in Preflight, basically so I don't forget! I know I can set this on the 'Ink Limit' panel, but unless I remember to check it, it goes unnoticed were as if it was in preflight it would remind me.
Does this make sense?
Can anyone help?

How can I set Firefox update preferences via script so I can configure our 200 Macs to disable checking for updates?

Most of our Mac users do not have admin privileges. So when they get alerted about Firefox updates, they don't have the ability to install them. We would like to disable Firefox for checking for updates, then push out updates from our software server as needed. We have about 200 machines to configure. Is there a way to disable checking for updates via script (bash or Applescript)? And if so, is there a guide or web site to explain the process?

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.

Can I Set Which "Adjustments" Come up Preferences?

I shoot raw and would like the raw adjustment and several others that I use consistently to come up along with the others when I click on the Adjustment Tab. Can I set those in Preferences or some other way?

You can add each adjustment t the default set:
Click the cogwheel beside the name of an adjustment you added and then use the menu entry "Add to default set". If an adjustment is already part of the default set, you will see "Remove from Default set" instead.

Multiple Split Points in Staff Styles

I have just recorded a piano solo with my m-audio keystation in Logic. However some of the notes I need in the bass clef are stuck in the treble clef (and vice versa). I know you can set a split point in staff styles, but I need to make the split point change throughout the piece.
What's the best way to go about doing this?

Hmm you really should read the manual about all this.
Ok:
Select the region you've cut - open the Score editor in the bottom window of your Arrange - in the Inspector at the upper left of your Arrange you can choose the staff styles for each region - click on the little downwards arrow of e.g. Instrument 1->style->choose a staff style - then change to page view and you will see your score without breaks/new clefs. I ususally setup a screenset with the Score editor in page view and another Screenset with the Arrange page and the Score editor opened at the bottom.
You can also open your staff style editor with a Keycommand - the same counts for the Instrument set editor. Once you've understood this principle you'll find faster ways of editing your score - open the Score editor at the bottom and just click into the different bars - the corresponding regions in the Arrange will get selected and you can quickly change staff styles.

To anyone else encountering this:
I would just like to report, that Oracle Development has managed to reproduce this problem from scratch by following a similar upgrade path 10.1.3.0->10.1.3.4->11.1.1.0. The problem is NOT OS-related, but related to migrating the user settings from 10.1.3.3. So Jan you were right about that. Credits go to you :)
The only workaround for me has so far been to take a backup of my old SYSTEM directory causing the problem, and I have been forced to carefully recreate all my settings to get around this problem, since I already removed my old 10.1.3.3 installation, assuming the migration went OK - which it didn't... So, I will keep my old backup, in the hope that Development finds a fix to this issue, so I can go back to the settings I used to have, even though I THINK I have recreated them all for 11g - not completely sure though... time will tell.
Until then, I will track the bug, that Didier has logged for me, which he mentioned in his post.

Can "line inside" be set as standard preference?

Can "line inside" be set as standard preference? So that when i make a box with a line, the line automatically is inside the box and not "on" or "outside". I cannot find a way to make it a standard instead of the line "on" the box.

Have you tried creating an object style with no documents open? That style will be the default. You can also edit the Basic Graphics Frame and Basic Text Frame properties with no open documents, to modify these primary objects.

I have been using the WTK without any problem for quite a long time, but without using any bluetooth features. Lately, after some bluetooth methods were implemented I had difficulties to launch my MIDlet on the emulator. I got some exceptions related to the JSR082, and thought everything was normal. So I tried to set up WTK preferences accordingly to my needs, and that's when my problem occured. All the preferences of my installation were blank, and moreover, I can not save the modification I made to them. The 'Ok' and 'Cancel' button are both present on the window, but pressing 'Ok' will have no effect, while pressing 'Cancel' will close the window, without saving my preferences, of course. Has anyone already run into the same issue ?
By the way, I already tried to uninstall and reinstall the JDK and the WTK...

Are all security updates automatic or can I set preferences?

I was out for a couple of hours. When I came back to my Macbook I had a notification that a security update had been installed.
1) Is there any record anywhere of what update was installed?
2) Do I have any choice or can I set preferences about when and if downloads/updates happen and are installed?
I know there is a list here: Apple security updates - Apple Support
but I want to know if there is place on my machine where i can see the updates and compare . . just to see if, for example the December 22 update is installed.
I can also see other updates in the app store but I don't see any security updates and the updates that are listed there don't have any dates attached.

With 10.2 I can only use system speaker output for audio, NOT my RME FF400 I used previously. The FF400 works fine with other apps. How can I set this device in FCP 10.2? (it is set in both system preferences and midi)

The FF400 works fine with other apps (some like TwistedWave) setup in the program, and others (like Spotify) using system preferences & audio midi setup. How can I set the FF400 to be the sound output device in FCP 10.2? N.B. The FF400 is set as sound output device in both system preferences and audio midi setup.

I have the solution! Well it at least worked for me. This is the response I got from Apple, Can you please try the following steps towards fixing your audio issue, and report back with your results?
1. Open the application Audio Midi Setup (located in Applications : Utilities)
2. Select the Output Tab for the current output device
3. Select the Configure Speakers option
4. Select the Multichannel tab
5. Change the setting to Stereo Now mine was set to stereo but the left channel wasn't showing left. re-clicking on stereo reloaded the settings and after clicking apply it worked.

In the properties window from a CWGraph you can set the style (bar, line, multicolor). How can you do this programmaticly?

I can't find the style property in my object inspector(Delphi). With style, I want to set the graphic type. For example: simple, bar or multicolor. In the help from the CWGraph object I can not find anything about it. I have solved the problem now by exporting the desired graph and then import it if I create a new object Dynamicly. Does anyone have an answer?

You set the style for each individual CWPlot, not the graph itself. Each plot can have its own style, the graph style sheet is just there for quick changes of common plot styles. You would change the LineStyle, PointStyle, Colors, etc of each plot to do this programmatically. For example, to pick a bar style for a plot you would:
CWGraph1.Plots(1).LineStyle = cwLineStepXY
CWGraph1.Plots(1).FillToBase = True
CWGraph1.Plots(1).PointStyle = cwPointNone
This would create a plot that steps and is filled to base with no points shown (bars). If you want to see how the graph styles change the plots, pick a graph style in the property pages, then look at the plot page and see how the plot properties changed.
