Can't set Table preferences

I understand that Dreamweaver Inserts a new table based on your previous tables' setup - which is a lousy way to set preferences. However, when I Insert a Table I no longer get the dialog box popup that allows me to set initial Properties - it just inserts a uselss 200px wide table with border set 1. How can I change this?

Show me an example of code that doesn't give a line break with <div>. Sorry, I just don't believe this.

<p> tags or <div> tags work OK for me.
We still get templates from our clients (who are big corporations) that are all table-based.
Then you don't have much choice. Just make sure that the code is valid before using them.
I tried it in design view but it just inserts the table - I'm not getting the dialog box where you can set the properties.
You should be - I don't recall what it is you have to do to retrieve this. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

Can't set printer preferences

I have been beating my head against this problem for weeks.
For all my local and networked printers, whenever I try to change the preferences, I get the message, “Printer settings could not be saved. Access denied.” I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. There is no error
number shown. I do NOT have the problem when I change the properties on the one printer I have that is accessed as a shared printer through another (good) machine. This is a home setup. I have no password and I am the only administrator.
This would seem to be a permissions problem either on the local print server or in the folder paths involved in printing. I believe that path would be c:\windows\system32\spool and its subfolders.
I am very fortunate to have a second (good) computer that is almost identical to my (bad) machine and on the good computer I can easily change the preferences for all printers.
So I compared literally all the properties of the good and bad machines that were identified in Devices and Printers—Print server properties. I did not find any differences. Then I compared the properties c:\windows\system32\spool
and all its subfolders. There were some minor differences in the subfolder properties, so I changed those properties in the bad machine to match the good machine. It did not help.
I did not notice the problem until I installed my newest printer, so I uninstalled that printer, but the problem was still there. I also got some ideas from searching the web that did not pan out. That included stopping
and starting the windows firewall server and the print spooling server plus reboot. I looked pretty hard, but there isn’t much info on the net about this. A few others have had the problem, but the only posts that claimed a fix were the server
stops, and they didn’t work out for me.
I don’t think I missed something when I tried to match up the properties, but I could have because there is a tremendous amount of detail there. I spend 2 full days doing it.
I am out of ideas, and my head is getting sore. Can anyone help me?

Comparison with the good machine showed that the keys HKCU\Printers\DevModePerUse & HKCU\Printers\DevModes2 were corrupted in 3 ways:
1. The group RESTRICTED was missing. Technet search said that would not affect my situation, so I ignored it.
2. My user name had been replaced with “Power Users”. I left it there, but added my user name.
3. Only Special permissions were allowed to any of the users, so I gave SYSTEM, my user name and Administrators full control.
Without Roger Lu’s help and introducing me to Process Monitor, I would have never been able to figure this thing out. Besides that, I now have
a great troubleshooting tool to use in the future.

My service preferences won't set after installing combined update earlier this week and the security 2012-4 update that caused so much problem with mail. Your profile indicates you have v10.7.2 installed yet your topic refers to v10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
Try this...
Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Safari then reselect it.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync your bookmarks and reading list.
Safari 5.0.5 is an outdated version. You need to update Safari.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update...
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.

Can I set a preference so that files don't open when downloaded?

I'm downloading a series of video files. I click on each link and they start downloading. I might have several that are all downloading at once. While they download I go on to work on something else. However, when each file finishes downloading, the program I use to view the video opens and I have to take time to close it and go back to work. Any suggestions? I'm sure there is a simple solution. My airport stopped working, will get signal but I can't set my preferences on airport utility

I can connect to it but it is stuck in its factory defaults and it shows an error when I start to write to it through airport utility. Everything is up to date too.

The spell checker correctly shows a red underline to flag misspelled words. However, sometimes I miss them or inadvertently send the message before I've checked (new user, not sure how this happens). The Firefox [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Page+Zoom Page Zoom] feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox, as with some other browsers.

The design property in Table properties should work for your requirement. Select "alternating" value for design.
Please see the API below:
design
Determines the appearance of the table. The property design can take the following values and is represented by enumeration type WDTableDesign.
alternating - The table rows are displayed alternately in a different color.
standard - The table background has one color. The individual table rows are displayed with grid net lines.
transparent - The table background is transparent. The individual table rows are displayed without grid net lines.
Check whether you have changed the right property or not? Also table should contain more than one rows to test this scenario.

Are all security updates automatic or can I set preferences?

I was out for a couple of hours. When I came back to my Macbook I had a notification that a security update had been installed.
1) Is there any record anywhere of what update was installed?
2) Do I have any choice or can I set preferences about when and if downloads/updates happen and are installed?
I know there is a list here: Apple security updates - Apple Support
but I want to know if there is place on my machine where i can see the updates and compare . . just to see if, for example the December 22 update is installed.
I can also see other updates in the app store but I don't see any security updates and the updates that are listed there don't have any dates attached.

Can I set a default Playback preference for multiple users on same PC?

I am setting up an editing suite for our University which has a "per machine" Creative Cloud licence. It is a PC installation. This machine will be used by a class of students who will log in with their own credentials. I need to set the preferences for Premiere (video output, workspace layout, default drives etc) so that it will be the same for all users logging in since we want a consistent setup for teaching purposes and dont want to have to help each student set up so that it shows correctly on the monitors. Is there a way of saving this setting as the default for every user? In particular, as we have dual monitors, we want to save the preferences - Playback to always appear on the second monitor. This is really important for us - I need an answer before building more suites.
(Adobe won't let me ask them directly, so I have to wait for someone to provide an anwser on the forums... not great customer support in my book)

You can set up the machine(s) initially exactly how you want them in regards to hardware and screen layouts etc. Thats easy and can be called..'University of Waikato Default Edit Workspace' for example. That is only part of it though.
You can set up and share a common Key Board Short cut Preference File. Same as Export Presets.
There is no way you can "Default" all the USERS stuff for individual unique projects though without creating a massive potential for disaster and confusion.
Each will need to have access to many separate drive locations for their media (audio, graphics, footage) and the knowledge to create, access and locate it.
THey will each need a separate Location for their Projects as well as their media.
If they are editing students...they should be taught how to set up everything for themselves so they have an understanding of the fundamentals and basic s of NLEs

I have the solution! Well it at least worked for me. This is the response I got from Apple, Can you please try the following steps towards fixing your audio issue, and report back with your results?
1. Open the application Audio Midi Setup (located in Applications : Utilities)
2. Select the Output Tab for the current output device
3. Select the Configure Speakers option
4. Select the Multichannel tab
5. Change the setting to Stereo Now mine was set to stereo but the left channel wasn't showing left. re-clicking on stereo reloaded the settings and after clicking apply it worked.
