Can't set up FaceTime

I recently restored my iPod Touch and I tried to sign into to FaceTime and iMessage and it keeps telling me that I need to check my network status and try again when I have full bars for Wi-Fi. Any tips or suggestions?

Cell plan cancelled, can't set up facetime..."Waiting for activation"

So I have no cell service on my iphone 4s right now and I'm trying to set up Facetime. I Registered an e-mail that works fine to log in with but my old phone number is stuck there, greyed out and says "verifying" beside it constantly. At the top it says "Waiting for activation" Can I unregister my number and just use my Apple ID or what? I've tried turning Off/On Facetime and IMessage, logging in to my apple account online and deleting the phone number they had in my "daytime number" line, powering down my phone, setting up a new Apple ID e-mail to use but my old phone number always appears there, greyed out and verifying right below the e-mail (That has a green check mark).
Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I have tried everything listed there. I think I've been through the entire support section a coule times now to no avail. It says you can still activate it when you see this message but the steps they have there do nothing. Under: You can be reached by Facetime at: It has my email which has been activated but it also has my old phone number greyed out which I cannot unselect.
Their steps confuse me as well because in the link you shared, step two says make sure you have cellular service... ?

My son has iPod touch and husband iPad 2. They would like to FaceTime each other but both devices are registered to the same apple Id on the same email address.( my son is only 8 so not his own email address) clearly as FaceTime uses email address they can,t FaceTime the same email. So how do we do this. Can we have 2 email addresses on the same apple I'd. Really not vey technical, but son is desperate to do this so he can talk to daddy at work.

First set up FT with the same Apple ID. Then for one of the devices, add another email address as the calling address and delete the Apple ID as the calling address on that device.

How can I set up Facetime on a deactivated Sprint iphone 4?

I bought a Sprint iphone 4 from someone who had deactivated due to he couldnt afford the extra data package; therefore the ESN is bad and not free and clear. I have a 12yr old son with Down Syndrome who had played with his sisters ipod touch and I thought we might be able to get him to like this one instead. When I showed him the Angry Birds game, to our astonishment, he took to it immediately. It is the first time he's ever played, and completed any game, ever. Needles to say what I bought for parts(I have a cell phone repair business) has now become his phone. Usually in these cases I do a complete reset, but instead, I have deleted all the prior owners personal information and reset up the wifi and my email info.
The problem I'm having is getting Facetime to work on this used iphone 4. Another daughter is away at college, has an iphone 4 with AT&T, and we would love for our son to be able to talk to the sister he misses so much. I have set up an account in Apple, followed all the instructions, and it never gets past the "Verifying"message then "Activation unsuccessful. Turn on Facetime to try again." We are utilizing Wifi and have a good strong connection, because I can surf the net and get into my AOL account.
I would really love to be able to set this up; can this be done? I am "Old School" and would need a step by step instruction. Thanx!!!

If it is true about the SMS, then it can't be done. The phone would have to be activated and, as I stated in my OP, the ESN is not free and clear. Therefore It can't send the SMS, ever. I didn't get "Hosed", as I said in the OP, I originally bought the phone for parts. It was only used 3 weeks, looked brand new, is white, and only had 3 hours on the Talktimer. It was only when I discovered my son connected with the Angry Birds game did I consider giving it to him. I have software to identify most SPC's(Service Provider Code) on Sprint, Verizon, and most CDMA phones. I utilize this to update Software, reflash, or Change PRL's, on CDMA phones. But even finding out this and reprograming it with another number won't work if an actual SMS has to be sent thru the Sprint System; besides, I'm pretty sure this software(CDMA WS Pro) won't work with iphones. So I guess the "Genius" guy wouldnt be able to help me out anyway. Too bad there isnt away around having to use Sprint to activate an Apple app. If anyone else has a solution, please let me know. Facetime only works with two devices at a time. You can have the same Apple ID, but the two devices can't have the same email address. Get a new gmail account. Normally you use wifi for connection, however, with iOS 6 and an iPad 3 you can use cellular.

I saw one post where a user said dust got inside the small microphone hole. Using a vacuum cleaner removed the dust and restored the audio.

Ipad shows all regular Iphone inbound calls as Facetime. I only want true FT calls to appear. I switch audio/video and it still happens. How can I set the Ipad to only register true facetime calls rather than all inbound regular calls? thanks

i bought it from UAE but not using it there. i am in Kurdistan at the moment & installed the Kurdistan local sim in it.
I can see the facetime here on other Iphone 4s which working perfectly without any issues but couldnt find the reason for the Iphone 5.

I was confused myself because there IS a FaceTime App on the iPod touch. It seems ridiculous that Apple would be so inconsistent given that they are essentially the same iOS. I didn't use FaceTime on my iPhone for the longest time because I could not find "the App."

Where did you get the phone? Facetime is banned in a number of countries in the Middle East. Phones that originate there have had facetime permanently removed. It can not be added back.

Well first, I must say "Yikes!!!"   I didn't know anyone still used Word Perfect.   That's an old school word processor right there... haha.
Okay, in all seriousnous, when saving your files in Word Perfect, use the Save As feature, and select a different format.   Word Perfect's format is likely not going to be opened by any of the popular word processing software.   I would try saving the document as RTF (rich text format), which is a universal standard across word processors.   This way, you can open the document on your Mac, or any other machine.
Now, I'm also assuming that you have a word processor installed on your Mac.   Right?   Maybe Word? Maybe Pages?   If you don't have a word processor, you'll need to get one.   If you don't want to spend the $10 on Pages, consider downloading Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/download/).   This will give you a free word processor that you can use on your Mac.

Hello All,
To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
So this fix worked for me.
After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.
