Can't set up my icloud account on my mac computer

I set up icloud on my new iphon5. I have since received an email 'welcome' from icloud confirming my account and password. I upgraded my Mac to OSX 10.8.2 to support icloud. When I go into apple preferences on my Mac and click on icloud it prompts me for my apple ID for icloud and the password- when entered it says it is a valid apple ID but not an icloud account, and won't sign me in. I have checked and rechecked and I know I have the correct icloud email address (applle ID) and password. Everything in my icloud account on my phone in on and set up properly. I cannot understand why my Icloud on my mac is not accepting it? Help?

Welcome to the Apple community.
You can add more than one account to your iPad, but you can only have one primary account. Secondary accounts which you can add at settings> mail, contacts, calendars do not have all the features of a primary account such as photo stream.

At the moment you can only use one iCloud account, per user account, on your computer.

Settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of screen and tap Delete Account. You *should* then be able to enter another ID/password. Is this exactly where you had your problem?

You can sign up for iCloud on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later, or through System Preferences on a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later. Just follow the setup instructions for your iOS device or Mac.

iCloud requires OS X 10.7.2 or later, and the latest Mac OS X version a PowerPC Mac can run is 10.5.8, so you can't use all iCloud features. You could use one at once and keep switching between the two, but it would be rather messy. You can also add more than one @me mail address to mail. You could also use seperate user accounts for each iCloud account. If you tell us why you would want to have two iCloud accounts on one mac we might be able to give better advice.

You can set up separate iCloud accounts for each of you and sign into your account on both your iPhone and iPad.
To change the account on her phone, go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted. (This only deletes the account from her phone; not from iCloud.) Then sign in with a different ID to create her new account (and use this ID for iMessage and FaceTime too). After setting up the account on her phone, she can then sign in with the same ID on her iPad to sync iCloud data between her devices.
You can then sign into you iCloud account using your ID on your devices, and both of you can continue to share the same ID in Settings>iTunes & App Stores.

If you mean you actually need to enable the "find my iPhone" setting under your iCloud Account's settings on your iPhone, then no, of course not. You needed to have enabled that setting before it went missing in order to be able to remotely connect/communicate with it in the first place.
In order to remotely track an iOS device, that device needs to have an active iCloud account already on it, and the "find" setting already turned on - all before it is no longer in your hands.

What you need is a file named Domain.sites (iWeb 2) or Domain.sites2 (iWeb 3). Copy it from your laptop to your other computer at home.
It's located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Place it in the same folder on the other computer.
All the files for the site are contained in that file/package. After editing you will have to publish the changes to your hosting server.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

If you mean you did not have your iPod associated with your iCloud Apple ID then there is no way to locate it using the iCloud "find my device" feature. The device must be associated with iCloud before you lose it.
