Can't setup print in mozilla's reader plugin

I have installed new version of Adobe Reader - 11.0.0.379.
Now when I want to print from Adobe Reader plugin in Mozilla Firefox, I get following dialog to setup print properties:
I need to set size option value to actual size, but I can't. How can I setup print properties like in Adobe Reader?

You are right. The reason is in Firefox 19. There is internal PDF viewer here. You can re-enable adobe reader plugin in preferences. Find Portable Document Format (pdf) in tab Application and select Use Adobe Acrobat.
Thank you very much for your advice.

  • Can not longer print pdf from Acrobat Reader

All of a sudden I can no longer print pdf files to my printer.  It is shared by all the computers in our household and any time I try to print from any of the computers now, instead of printing it creates a prn file instead.  I can find no option in the printer properties where selecting or deselecting something to enable or disable printing to files.  All the systems are either MS Vista or Windows 7.  Though there are commands that allow sending a prn to a network printer, they require a named print server, which we don’t have on our peer-to-peer network.
It is interesting that I can create a pdf file in Photoshop on my system and it will print from Photoshop.  I can also print the “problematic” documents for Photoshop, which I only have on one system. But anything created in Acrobat will not print natively from Acrobat reader.

In the Print dialog click on Advanced, then uncheck Print to File.

  • Can i setup print from my iPad to HP6500 wireless printer?

tried to connect ipad to be able to print using hp6500 wireless printer, can i do this? if so, need to learn steps. Tks

That printer is not supported by AirPrint (see article below).  Therefore, you would have to find some third party app (or an HP app) to print to it from iPad.
If it were an AirPrint printer, you would get more support directly from Apple utilities.

  • Does Adobe Reader plugin work in Firefox 11 if launched from Gnome?

Sorry to cross post, but I couldn't figure out how to move my post from the "Adobe Reader" forum to the "Adobe Reader for Unix" forum.
If I launch Firefox (version 11) from the command line (Linux shell), then I can open a PDF with the Adobe Reader plugin.  But if I launch Firefox from the desktop or panel in Gnome, I get the message "Could not launch Adobe Reader 9.1.0. Please make sure it exists in PATH variable in the environment.  If the problem persists, please reinstall the application."
acroread is in the PATH variable - I checked ("which acroread" and "echo $PATH")
We are using acroread 9.3.2.  We tried updating to the latest acroread 9.4.something ...? but the SendMail option was missing from Edit->Preferences, so we reverted to 9.3.2.
We are using Debian Linux 5.0.8.
It is very convenient and user-friendly in our library for visitors to be able to view a PDF in the browser (with the plugin) and to be able to just click on the envelope icon from there to send a PDF.
This was working fine until we upgraded to Adobe Reader 9.4.  We reverted to 9.3.2, and everything was working fine again.  Then our systems people did some things, including updating Mozilla Firefox from version 3.6.13 to version 11.  Then the plugin stopped working from the Gnome launch panel.  I tried running the old Firefox 3.6.13 from the Gnome launch panel, but the plugin no longer works in it, either.
    Has anyone had this problem?
Sometimes running Firefox from the command line gives some errors.  I tried various versions of nppdf.so and tried toggling the about:config variable "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.nppdf.so" but nothing changed.

I have the same or a very similar issue on WIn7 64bit

  • How to save print setup for pdf file so that every user can open and print w/o manually performing?

Can is there a way to configure the print settings (i.e. paper size, orientation, etc.) and save this setting as part of the pdf file? I would like the users of pdf files to be able to open the file and simply print, without having to manually configure the print settings.

Not sure if this will help. I got this information from the built-in help under Acrobat 9.
    Advanced
Lists PDF settings, print dialog presets, and reading options for the document. In the PDF settings for Acrobat, you can set a base Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for web links in the document. Specifying a base URL makes it easy for you to manage web links to other websites. If the URL to the other site changes, you can simply edit the base URL and not have to edit each individual web link that refers to that site. The base URL is not used if a link contains a complete URL address.
You can also associate a catalog index file (PDX) with the PDF. When the PDF is searched with the Search PDF window, all of the PDFs that are indexed by the specified PDX file are also searched.
You can include prepress information, such as trapping, for the document. You can define print presets for a document, which prepopulate the Print dialog box with document-specific values. You can also set reading options that determine how the PDF is read by a screen reader or other assistive device.
    Create print presets
A PDF can contain a set of print presets, a group of document-specific values that is used to set basic print options. By creating a print preset for a document, you can avoid manually setting certain options in the Print dialog box each time you print the document. It’s best to define print settings for a PDF at the time that you create it, but print presets provide a means to add basic print settings to a PDF at any time.
Choose File > Properties, and click the Advanced tab.
In the Print Dialog Presets section, set options and click OK.
The next time you open the Print dialog box, the values will be set to the print preset values. These settings are also used when you print individual documents in a PDF Portfolio.
Note: To retain a print preset for a PDF, you must save the PDF after creating the print preset.
    Print Dialog Presets
    Page Scaling
Prepopulates the Page Scaling option in the Print dialog box with the option you choose:
    Default
Uses the application default setting, which is Shrink To Printable Area.
    None
Prevents automatic scaling to fit the printable area. This setting is useful for preserving the scale of page content in engineering documents, or for ensuring that documents print at a particular point size to be legal.
    DuplexMode
For best results, the selected printer should support duplex printing if you select a duplex option.
    Simplex
Prints on one side of the paper.
    Duplex Flip Long Edge
Prints on both sides of the paper; the paper flips along the long edge.
    Duplex Flip Short Edge
Prints on both sides of the paper; the paper flips along the short edge.
    Paper Source By Page Size
Selects the option by the same name in the Print dialog box. Uses the PDF page size to determine the output tray rather than the page setup option. This option is useful for printing PDFs that contain multiple page sizes on printers that have different-sized output trays.
    Print Page Range
Prepopulates the Pages box in the Print Range section of the Print dialog box with the page ranges you enter here. This setting is useful in a workflow where documents include both instruction pages and legal pages. For example, if pages 1–2 represent instructions for filling out a form, and pages 3–5 represent the form, you can set up your print job to print multiple copies of only the form.
    Number Of Copies
Prepopulates the Copies box in the Print dialog box. Choose a number from 2 to 5, or choose Default to use the application default, which is one copy. This limitation prevents multiple unwanted copies from being printed.
    Thanks.

  • Can't print PDFs from Adobe Reader 7!

A few months ago I started having problems printing from Adobe Reader 7.
I can view PDFs fine. I can also view PDFs online through Safari with the Adobe Reader plug in.
What I've resorted to doing is using Preview to open PDFs that I've saved from Adobe Reader, and I can print fine through Preview.
But that isn't quite a good fix for me!
I can also print documents in other formats from plenty of other applications, so I know it's not a printer-talking-to-Mac issue.
What happens is this - I have a PDF open in Adobe and send it to print. The printer comes up in the dock like its working. After an appropriate amount of time (the time one would expect the document to print), it disappears from the dock as though it is done printing. But no document ever prints. And the printer never displays that it is receiving information to print.
Yesterday I spent a good chunk of time working on this problem to no avail.
I ran "detect and repair" in Adobe Reader but no problems were found.
I threw away Adobe Reader 7 (I think I was up to 7.0.7) and its preferences and other files and downloaded and installed Reader 6. I still couldn't print from Reader.
I installed patches and updates incrementally to from Reader 6 to 7.0.5 by allowing Reader to update itself, but that didn't help.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. That didn't fix the problem.
I tried printing the document through Reader as an "image," but it just crashed the Reader.
I also downloaded and ran "Printer Setup Repair" (something I saw suggested in someone else's post about an Adobe print problem) but that didn't help matters either.
I'm sort of stumped. I'll also post this to the Adobe forums, but from what I've seen the folks over there are not really Mac users.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers!

    Ann,
A few more thoughts or your dilemma...You might try looking at your system.log with the utility Console to see if it might give you a clue to the problem. (Not that I understand all the stuff in those logs, but when MS Word and Quark did not produce printouts, the Console log named the problem fonts.)
The culprit may be the Adobe Reader PPD or Plugin. The path to those are HD/Library/Printers/PPDs/Resources/en.lproj/ADPDF7.PPD and HD/Library/Printers/PPD Plugins/AdobePDFPDE700.plugin. So if you try deleting Adobe Reader stuff again, be sure to delete those docs too, before re-installing.
Note: I use Acorbat Pro 7 so I do not know if the filenames ADPDF7.PPD and AdobePDFPDE700.plugin are the same for Reader, but the paths might be helpful.
Before uninstalling and re-installing both Adobe PhotoShop and Reader, I would suggest that you check the integrity of you hard drive. Overtime, stuff gets out of place and some applications are more sensitive than others. If there is something wrong on the hard drive, replacing the applications will still produce the same problem. Repairing disk is different from repairing permissions. As in my previous post, boot up your computer with your OS 10.3.x Install Disk 1 and launch the Disk Utility app from the CD. Click on Repair Disk...
    Hope this helps.

  • When Firefox last automatically updated, it suggested that Adobe reader needed updating, now, with Adobe Reader 8, I can no longer print from the internet, only to file. Help please.

When Mozilla Firefox last automatically updated, it suggested that Adobe Reader needed updating. After updating to Adobe Reader 8, I can no longer print from the internet, only to a file. I know the printer and its interface must be OK because Word prints normally.

Problem solved, it was my oversight, I had not removed the check from the Print to File box in the print set up.

  • Can't setup ePrint / Web Services on a new HP 8600 Pro Plus Wireless Printer

I just purchased a new HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus All in one printer. I setup the printer on my home wireless network and it prints great. I am now trying to setup ePrint and when I go through the option to setup the Web Services /ePrint function on the Printer or via the web application for the printer I get the following error:
    "Cannot connect to the server.
Check the Internet connection and try again. Or contact your system administrator or the person who set up the printer. If your network requires a proxy server address to connect to Internet, click Enter Proxy or check your browser settings."
My primary PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium with Svc Pac 1, 64 bit
My home network is set for DHCP and I do not have a Proxy Server setup but the Web Services setup page is asking for a Proxy Server an Port.
I have already established a ePrint ID but cannot complete the process until I can get the Printer Web Services setup process to complete.
    Any suggestions?

    HI Adrianf;
Hope you are doing well, welcome to the community,
I wil take several steps to make sure they are not causing the issue,
     Try this tool Click here
I will also set an static ipaddress for my printer and change the DNS servers provided by your ISP to Google DNS servers
How to set an static IP address
Follow these steps to assign an unchanging static IP address to the product through the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Open a new Web browser window.
Type the IP address located on the Network Configuration Page in the address bar of the Web browser, using http:// to begin the address e.g. http://192.168.0.1  Then press Enter .  The EWS home page for the product opens.
In the EWS screen, click the Network tab.
Click Wired (802.3) , and then click the IPv4 Configuration or the IPv6 Configuration tab.
Click Manual IP . The Manual IP Address box opens.
In the Manual IP Address box, type an IP address with the same values in the first three sets of digits (subnet values) as the product's IP address (listed on the Network Configuration Page), and a higher value (between 1 and 254) in the fourth set of digits. This creates a static IP address on the same subnet, but outside the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) range.
For example, if the product's original IP address is 192.168.0.1 , assign the static IP address to 192.168.0.200 .
    NOTE:
Do not type the static IP address use as the example. Enter a static IP address based on the IP address for your product. This can be found on network configuration page.
Enter the Subnet Mask and the Default Gateway settings as they appear on the Network Configuration Page.
Click OK to save the new settings, and then click Exit or close the browser to exit the EWS.
    While you are here in the IPV4  you can set the DNS servers of google instead of the DNS servers provided by your ISP  just change the option of automaticly select DNS server and use this;
DNS servers of google are 8.8.8.8 and alternative DNS 8.8.4.4
Make sure that the operating system is updated, that the routers firware is the lastest.
    Hope it helps and best of luck;
    RobertoR

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909a - setup can't find printer, HP Network Diagnostic does

    Windows XP SP3
    HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a CB022A
    DLM1FN1006BR
I have been fighting with this printer for the past week, put at least 40 hours into trying to fix this alone. I will never buy another HP product for my office again.
Windows can find the printer on the network. HP Network Diagnostic can find the printer on the network. But the latest version of the installation for the printer, that I downloaded from the website last week, refuses to find the printer on the network. I would do this without the HP software if I could but I need the functionality of hitting the scan button on the printer and it converting those scanned documents to PDF.
    Here's a list of things I've tried:
Finding the printer by IP in the setup (doesn't find it)
Using the HP Scrub tool for this printer at all levels (L1-L4) MULTIPLE times followed by deleting the files in %temp% and then reinstalled the full software package.
Disabled all services and startup items.
Disabled the Windows firewall. Tried with Windows firewall installed as well.
Restarted the HP services in services.msc
    Updated MSIEXEC.
    Un registered Re-registered the msiexec
    Re-registered ATL.dll
Ran subinacl to make sure all permissions are set properly.
What I don't understand is why the HP Network Diagnostic can find it and the install can't. It seems to me that without installing all the HP software, I have no way of using the scan button to scan documents - the scanner just says "Select Computer" followed by "No Scan Options".
Can anyone tell me what I've missed in troubleshooting?

Bump? Anyone have any sort of advice? Or is everyone seeing that I've followed every step in the HP Support site and nobody knows what else to suggest?

  • I can no longer print using wifi. I have to connect a USB cable to print. Setup and pref show that I should be able to print wireless but I keep getting printer not found msg when trying.

I can no longer print via wifi. I could at one time but now I have to connect to printer with USB. All settings appear correct in printer and macbook. Sys pref shows printer with green light next to idle. Sending a print prompt results in "searching for printer, printer not found, ensure printer is turned on". I have reinstalled printer in my print list and reinstalled printer software on macbook. Kodak 5250 AiO printer shows it's configured for and on wifi channel. I go online with laptop using wireless but cannot print. Help!

If you know the IP address of the printer, then you can check if there is a working path between the Mac and printer. This can be done using Network Utility or a web browser.
If you open Network Utility and select the Ping tab, you can enter the IP address of the Kodak and then press the Ping button. If there is a working connection then you should get a reply to each packet sent.
With the web browser, many devices have a built-in web server so you can type the IP address of the printer into the browser and if there is a working connection then you will open the printers web page.
So, are you able to confirm you have a working connection between the Mac and printer?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.
