Can't setup wifi sync

Hi everyone
I'm trying to set my ipad to sync via wifi and after following this article
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12314
In step "Disconnect your device from your computer." after I disconnect my device it NOT appear in device pop-up menu and I haven't click eject button
So my wifi sync isn't working
Please help

Let me say that I find WiFi syncing to be very flakey, and can be a real PITA to deal with ever since Apple "improved" iTunes from version 10.7 and up.
Now ....did you try to sync after you disconnected to test it or are you assuming that it will not work? This is what I do when WiFi syncing goes south one me (every other time I try it).
Connect the iPad to your PC with the cable and sync the iPad - even if you still have WiFi sync selected. After you sync, toggle the WiFi setting off and on but do it like this. Turn WiFi sync Off and click on apply in the lower right corner, then turn WiFi sync on again and click in apply in the lower right corner. Give it a couple of seconds for the changes to really be applied. Now disconnect the cable and see if the iPad is still showing under devices, if it is, sync to test the WiFi sync settings.

  • My wife's iPhone can't use wifi sync with my Mac (but mine does)

My iPad and my iPhone both work correctly with wifi sync and my Mac, so I think my network config is ok.
However, when I set up my wife's iPhone the setup looks ok, when it is tethered to my Mac I can press the wifi sync button on the iphone and it will sync, but when I disconnect it, it
    1. dissapears from the device list on the left
    2. cannot find the Mac even when I try and force a sync from the menu
    I have tried:
Enabling and disabling uPnP on my router, assigning a different IP for her phone, etc.
    Rebooting / Re-opening everything
Resetting the network settings on the iPhone
Any real ideas that don't involve "format and reinstall?"

Is your wife's iPhone always connected to your home network when in the house?
    Yes
Also, have you enabled WiFi syncing when the iPhone has been tethered to the Mac and then re-synced (while still tethered) once you enabled the feature.
    Yes
Lastly, are all devices running iOS 5?
    Yes
Agree that it is very wierd.

  • Can no longer WiFi Sync.  iTunes won't connect to devices.

Since downloading iOS 7 and iTunes 11.1.1 I can no longer WiFi Sync my iPhone5, iPad, or iPod.  Error message states, "iTunes could not connect to this device.  Could not allocate a resource."  What does this mean?  Never had a problem before.

I have the same problem  On the phone with Apple support over the course of a few days without a solution.

  • Since upgrade to IOS 10.9 and associated iTunes 11.1.3, I can no longer WiFi sync iPad (IOS 7.0.3) nor iPhone (IOS 6.1.3).  USB connection is required.  Formerly I could sync both devices without locating them physically (not necessarily charging).

I'm also affected by this bug in exactly the same way as you.
Some users have had success by closing iTunes, enetering (on OS 10.9) settings --> network --> edit locations, then create a new location with the same wifi/network settings. Then restarting iTunes.
Others have had some success by editing settings --> iCloud --> de-selecting keychain
neither of these fixes have worked for me.
It appears that the iPad can "see" iTunes running on my iMac because when I open settings --> general --> 'iTunes wifi sync', "sync now" is greyed out if iTunes is not running. When iTunes is started, "sync now" is enabled but just doesn't work. Nor does the iPad appear in iTunes.

  • I can't get WiFi sync to work - connected to university network

I am currently connected (both my iPhone and Mac) to my universities wireless network and I can't get WiFi Sync to work. It doesn't even show up in my iTunes (my iPhone). Everything is updated.

  • Two people, two apple IDs, three iPods, two iPads, one Mac.  Can we use wifi sync?

We have two apple IDs and multiple iOS 5 devices. We'd like to consolidate to a single Mac and use wifi sync with it. But can we run two instances of iTunes on one box at the same time and have that work?  Or do we need to consolidate to a single iTunes and single apple ID?  Or give up on both being able to do this, and just pick one to do it this way and make the other person keep using the old way?
    Thanks!

  • Can you use wifi sync with multiple libraries and multiple devices

    Hi all
Does anyone know if you can use wifi sync with 1 computer, 2 libraries and 2 devices?
I have my wife's iPhone synced to 1 library and mine to another library but on the same computer. Will wifi sync work this way or do you need iTunes to be open to the correct library for it to work? As I know you can't have 2 instances of itunes open on the same computer.
    Anyway thanks for any help

I have been looking more and more into this and it appears no.
You need to have iTunes running on the computer to enable it to wifi sync. You can use 2 devices on 1 library but if you don't have all the right options ticked you will then end up with each others stuff on each others device.
To enable wifi sync you need to have your iDevice connected to the same wifi network as your computer and iTunes open on that computer.
With my library open it detected my wife's phone and started to sync. Hasty push of cancel sync button lol.
There is a guide on here somewhere about multiple devices with 1 library which I can't find at the moment that tells you which options to tick so only your stuff stays on your device the the other half's on their device.
Its basically tick 'sync only ticked songs and videos' under summary of your device
Under apps take tick out of 'automatically sync new apps'
Then under edit->preferences click device and click prevent i's from syncing automatically
I think you should then be able to sync both devices to 1 library with mucking them up too much
Hopefully please correct me if I'm wrong
I have tried not doing the last step and asking it to open itunes automatically when phone is connected but this does not work with wifi sync
Have fun hopefully someone else can give us a better answer

  • I have upgraded to ios5 but can't get wifi sync to work.

I have just upgraded to iOS5 but cant get wifi sync to work.  The main itunes library is hosted on my imac.  The message on the ipad (and iphone) is that it is waiting on my imac to be available but the imac is on and connected to the same network as the ipad.  Is there something I need to do on the imac to get it to communicate with the ipad?

    From the iOS 5 manual (http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad) :
Set up wireless  iTunes syncing: Connect iPad to your computer using the Dock Connector to USB Cable. In iTunes, turn on “Sync over Wi-Fi connection” in the device’s Summary pane.
When Wi-Fi syncing is turned on, iPad automatically syncs every day. iPad must be connected to a power source, both iPad and your computer must be on the same wireless network, and iTunes must be open on the computer. For more information, see “iTunes Wi-Fi Sync.”

  • Can't get WiFi sync to work with iOS 5 devices

I have an iPad 1 and an iPhone 3GS, both running iOS 5.  I can't get either device to synch to my iTunes library wirelessly.  I have seen the procedures in the KB, but the part that I am missing is that neither device has the "Sync with this iOS device over WiFi" option in the device summary in iTunes, even though I am running iTunes 10.5.  Is this because I am running OS X 10.5?

Oops, she rebooted and problem solved.

  • I CAN'T GET WIFI SYNC TO WORK

WHY CAN'T I GET THIS TO WORK! I HAVE LATEST ITUNES, I HAVE IOS 5 ON MY IPOD, I CLICKED SYNC WITH THIS IPOD OVER WIFI, THEN SAID APPLY, AND EVEN SYNCED IT 11 TIMES! UNPLUGGED IT AND IT DOESN'T FUKCING WORK

  • Can't setup wifi network

    Hi Apple
I have had major probs setting up my AirPort Extreme Base Station 802.11n (AEBSn) in the past, in the end i hired a home pc guy who also couldnt figure out AEBSn software but somehow managed to setup everything through windows control panel. Since then the product has been working fine... Until now. I've replaced my old laptop with a new PC and my Wifi network has dissapeared. The AEBSn still has a solid green indicator light, home network is functioning fine.
I have and upstream gateway adsl2 modem plugged into the wall, running to my AEBSn (which i beleive is setup as a bridge with a static IP) which splits the internet to my PC, NAS, HTPC. All cables are cat6 and all access points are recieving a connection. Its just the wifi that isn't broadcasting.
The setup manual doesnt say much, the apple aiport software ultilty recognizes the AEBSn as a 5th gen 802.11n. It assigns a name, airport ID and IP address. Current version 7.5.2. If i try to update from the main screen it gives me the 10057 error, if i try File>Configure Other it gives me the -6753 error.
    I have read this discussion
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3289924?start=0&tstart=0
and i guess ill attempt to fix the 10057 error in hopes i will then be able to setup a wifi network.
Actually if anyone can offer a workaround so i dont have to use the airport utility that would be great.
    Cheers

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • Can't Initiate Wifi Sync From iPhone

I use a Mac Mini as my media center PC and to sync my iPhone and iPad via Wifi.  Recently I upgraded to the new model and to Mountain Lion.  Ever since then I am unable to initial an iTunes sync from the iPhone.  When I do it just says searching for mini, but eventually times out.  It also wont automatically sync when it is plugged into power like it should overnight.  This happens when iTunes is running and even shows the iPhone as a connected device.  If I initiate the sync from iTunes on the Mini it starts after a second or two and works every time, as does plugging it in.  Also I am not running any kind of software firewall on the Mini that would be blocking incoming connections.  Does anyone know what could cause this or anything to try to resolve it?
    Thanks

I do not even see the MacBook in my iPhone. Otherwise I have all other symptoms as you do. Didn't you solve your problem within those two months?

  • WiFi sync will not start automatically when plugging in charger

SInce upgrading  my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to IOS6 and downloading the latest version of iTunes, plugging the charger into the devices no longer triggers the WiFi sync. I can initiate the Wifi sync manually from either the device or iTunes.
Is this related to all of the messages out there with users having Wifi greyed out?

I am having the same problem. It only works once in a while. I had to turn on Airplane Mode and sync using the cable. I found that workaround in this thread:
