Can't Share an Audio Recording in Quicktime X

Hi folks. My colleagues asked me to record a meeting for them, so I used Quicktime X to make an audio recording. Once I saved the file, I went to "share" it - I am indifferent how...iTunes, MobileMe, whatever. However, every option is greyed out. Does anyone know why this would be the case and how I can change it in order to share the recording with my colleagues? Thanks!

Maybe I am using the wrong terminology,
OK. To avoid confusion, let's refer to them as Blu Ray disks. DVD is standard def only (480 resolution). The confusion arises when we hear folks refer to HD DVDs, because there was once such a product.  Now the format is obsolete.
So  have you tried to Share>Blu Ray to see whether it can be burned from within FCP? If it doesn't work, that would suggest a problem with your FCP project. If you can, than somewhere between FCP and toast there is an issue.
As a test, take the range tool and make a short selection of your time line.  Using Share>Blu Ray, select Hard Drive for out put device so you don't waste the media. If that works, you could either have FCPX do the disk for the whole project or make a disk imagine for Toast. (I don't use Toast but I'm reasonably confident it will accept img files.)

Close the QT X player without saving the recording. If you have already saved the recording, then locate the saved file and trash it in the normal manner. If you are referring to a temporary or saved file entry that shows up in the "Open Recent" list, the system will automatically reclaim the space as part of the routine system clean up if/when the file is no longer available. If you simply wish to immediately remove it from your "Open Recent" list before the system removes it, then use the "Clear Menu" option to manually clear the "Open Recent" list.

  • No Direct Audio Recording With Quicktime

Could someone please help me to troubleshoot this Quicktime audio problem? Running 10.8.2. When I try to do screen recording it doesn't record the audio section. I do not want to use the mic but record what is going throught the speakers. I read somewhere that Quicktime can't do this but that is silly for a company like Apple not to include audio recording, when many other screen capture programs easily do. Am I missing a patch or update of some kind? Would adding Soundflower fix this issue?

Is there a link to do this?
Here is the general link to the Apple Product Feedback page listing products: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Here is the link to the QT Product Feedback Form: http://www.apple.com/feedback/quicktime.html
The way Quicktime is now, it is worthless (screen capture wise) unless you want to capture a Charlie Chaplin movie...
Than mab be the point. (I.e., they may not want you to be capable of copying movies playing on you screen.)

  • How can I copy an audio recording in Skype?

I have an audio recording of one of my contacts on Skype.
Can you tell me if there is a way to copy this recording to my hard drive and if so how?
Can I do it with MP3 Skype Recorder 4.11 and if so how?  Where would it be recorded to if I can do it this way?
Any help with this will be really appreciated
    HB

I already have a Skype recorder for any incoming or outgoing Skype or telephone calls.  I use MP3 Skype Recorder for that.   What I'm trying to achieve is different.
I have an existing voicemail message in Skype itself from one of my Skype contacts.  It is this voicemail message that I want to save to my hard drive somewhere so there is no chance of me losing it in Skype itself.
I right clicked on the recording and there is an option in the context menu to 'Copy Message.' I clicked on this but I don't know where to save it to on my hard drive so I can play it whenever I want from there as a file.
I would also like to know if there is any way to change this voicemail message to another file format to play on my hard drive.
Can anybody help me with this scenario please?
    Thanks

  • I can't get any audio recording to work in Logic X.

I got a new Imac, an Apogee duet and Logic X.
I just got Logic X and I really love everything about it accept I can't record any audio recordings on it.
I can use my old Logic and garageband files and play around and mix them with no problem. The midi works fine as well coming trhoug my headphones and monitors.
Somehow I can't get the Audio to be heard or recorded. Which is a real bummer since I got only 6 songs left on my new album and it is an acoustic album. I bought Logic so I could master the first 5 and the record the last 6. But I'm stuck with garageband at the moment. Because that actually can record the audio throug my duett with no problem. Then I open the songs up in Logic and master and mix them..
    Ay ideas?

If you can record and hear audio in Garageband, it must be down to something in Logic - have you checked the Audio tab in Logic's Preferences and selected your Duet as Output and Input device ?

  • How can I share HD video recorded from my iPhone 4s

How can I send a video recorded on my iPhone 4s to someone so they can view it in HD? I tried sending the video via mms, but I understand the video will be compressed and the viewer will not see the recording in HD

    Hey Ravengirlaa,
Great question! The answer is going to depend on how the photos were originally organized:
    A) The albums were synced to your iPhone from iTunes
    B) The albums were manually created on your iPhone from photos in the Camera Roll
The following excerpt would apply for situation B:
excerpt from page 71 of the iPhone User Guide - http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
If the photos were synced from your computer, please refer to this article (section "To delete photos and videos from your device"):

  • Video + audio recorded in Quicktime X is out of sync when used in iMovie

I have recorded video in Quicktime X. When I try to edit it in iMovie, the audio and video are out of sync. They are in sync if I play the video in Quicktime. I am using the latest version of iMovie '11. Anyone know how I can fix this?

You should not HAVE TO but did you try extracting out the audio? This has been a issue for a long time. I am not sure why you never see this problem in Final Cut but it rears its ugly head in iMovie all the time. What do the call it now? Oh yes... detach. Select the clip then Clip -> Detach audio and line it back up.

  • Audio Recording on Quicktime Pro

    I recently purchased a new I Mac.
I would like to convert a bunch of old audio tapes from both Cassette and DAT to make WAV files, so I can burn them on to CDs. My DAT machine has optical output, so I purchased the TOSLINK optical cable for the optical input on my Mac.
Before I go ahead and purchase QT Pro, I want to be certain that I can perform this task for sure. IS QT Pro capable of recording audio from a DAT machine?
Thank you. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

  • Can I add an audio record button to my document?

I would like the reader of my PDF file to electronically sign the document by saying the word "YES" or "NO" depending upon their inclination.
So, how do I embed a control that permits for the capture of audio in a PDF?
Thanks in advance for any information you can share.
    Greg Park

I knew about the comment possibility, but as you have said...users would need instruction.  This is intended for a controlled environment where I know that everyone will have a device with a microphone.  However, the users of the form would have very little experience as this is meant for patients.

  • Giving advice on audio recording

I first started using Captivate when it was Robodemo 5 and
that was not all that long ago. I remember when I first downloaded
it. I thought it was the greatest training software ever. However I
did have problems. The most long lived problems were with audio
recordings. I know that many people have. On some of the forums I
read where one person had given up on Captivate. They did not like
the inconsistent recording of the audio. Sometimes it would be deep
and resounding the next slide would sound as if you are at the end
of a tunnel, and the very next recording would sound metallic and
    soft sounding.
Just like with everything else if you are persistent enough
you will find a solution. I tried various mikes some expensive
others less expensive. They all produced the same results.
Inconsistent recordings. The recordings to me were passeable but
all not that great. Then I ordered one of those newer usb condensor
    podcastiing mikes.
All I can say is wow! Those new podcasting mikes they level
out the sound. You can still notice that one recording sounds a
tiny, tiny, different than the next, but barely noticeable.
Most of us are not radio announcers or professional
broadcasters however to me the mike made an incredible difference
    in Captivates audio recording quality.

    Hello Rick!
The microphone is around 80 dollars, it comes with a soft
ware preamp, and I have always recorded directly into Captivate.
Even a low bit rates and encoding frequencies it still sounds good.
All my Captivate files are produced for the web. Html and .swf
    files.
It is the mike Rick that made the difference. It is a Samson
microphone. It is quite large and heavy. I found out about it
through podcasters. I wondered what podcasters were using to record
audio. Audio quality would be important to them. What I wanted was
the best mike for recording onto a computer. The podcasters are
fanatics about the mikes they use.
Here is the advert from Samson.
"The C01U USB Studio Condenser Mic is the first affordable
studio condenser mic with a USB interface.
For the first time ever, musicians who record music on
computers have a simple, affordable way to capture high-quality
vocal and acoustic instrument performances.Seamless integration was
the idea, and it was obtained by creating a studio condenser
microphone that can be plugged into any computer with no in/out
boxes, no expensive computer pre-amps, just a USB cable.
The C01U condenser microphone is based on our wildly
successful C01. It features a 19mm internal shock mounted diaphragm
with a cardioid pick up pattern ensuring pristine studio quality
    recordings."
Most online music stores carry these . Find one that you can
    trust. Just Google Samson microphones.
Everyone can have good quality audio recorded directly into
Captivate. For those new at audio recording listen to podcasters
and other broadcasters. Animate your voice to make it more
interesting, speak at the same volume level, get a "pop" filter or
make your own with a nylon and reformed wire coat hangar. Practice
with your voice ,adjust the settings ,test various settings out and
soon you will be saying " wow"!

  • How can I play an audio CD with QT 7.1.6?

I want to play an audio CD with QuickTime 7.1.6.
When I click on Open file and select the CD drive, change th file type to Audio Files and mark "Open as read-only" nothing is displayed. When I change to "All Files (.)" the tracks are showed with an ".cda" extension. When I dobleclick on a track, I get the Error -2048: the file is not a movie file.
How can I play an audio CD with QuickTime 7.1.6?

I confirm your issue as I just tried an audio CD in my XP laptop. "All Files" showed only the 44 byte .cda files and no others. QuickTime couldn't open them (error -2048).
I also tried "Open File" with version 7 Pro and it couldn't open.
Odd that I get the option to open using iTunes and it opens and plays just fine. Since iTunes uses the QuickTime engine I would have thought QuickTime could read the files directly.
The same audio CD inserted in my Mac allowed me to double click any track and it opened directly in QuickTime Player. The files show as .aiff files measured in MB's.
Windows users could open an audio CD in iTunes and then convert to .aiff (no compression) and then open the .aiff in QuickTime.
I guess I should have tried myself before getting your hopes up. I apologize.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPhone shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"
