Can't share files

Right click on a file to share via email but Mail will not launch. Has not been working since I upgraded to Maverick.

Assuming both computers are on the same network, and can both get on the internet at the same time; The most likely cause of this is the workgroup that they're on. On each computer, right click on 'My computer' and choose properties. Click on the tab that says 'Computer Name' and then click the button that says "Change". At the bottom of the next screen, the 'dot' should be in workgroup for both computers and the name there should be identical on both computers. Also, on both computers, right click on the folder you want to share and click sharing and security to activate file sharing.

Assuming you have a wireless network at home, just use file sharing. System Preferences / Sharing. Choose a folder you want to share and you're done.

The speed of upload e download is good?

The Creative Cloud file storage could be used for video assets but speed and performance might vary based on location. I would suggest you testing it out yourself using your Adobe ID before subscribing. Performance would not change after you joined.

  • How can I share files and itunes through extreme base station ??

How can I share files and itunes music through the extreme base station. as well as locate and place files onto the external hard drive that is connected to the X.B.S. from my or other computers hooked up to it ??
thank you in advance for your attention on this matter.

Which AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) are you discussing? The new square 802.11b/g/n AEBS supports the direct connection of USB hard drives. The previous round 802.11b/g AEBS does not have that capability. I have a feeling that you are asking about the new one but this is the discussion area for the old one.
The new square 802.11b/g/n AEBS allows you to share files directly from the connected USB drive. It doesn't matter what the files are so you can store your iTunes library there and get access wirelessly.
The round 802.11b/g AEBS doesn't have this ability.

No iDisk-like functionality exists in iCloud. You'll have to look elsewhere, such as Dropbox or SugarSync.

Hi Apple Team, my iphone can't share bluetooth files with my macbook pro. But other devices can share bluetooth files with my mac book pro. Please, kindly open up bluetooth to accept all connections from all devices. Now it difficult for me to share bluetooth files from my mac bookpro to my iphone, unless i attached it through email.
We need it to be acceptable to all devices.
    Thank you!

You can tell Apple directly at the link below.

  • Can I share files, especially email, between 2 Macs via iCloud?

I have 2 Macs - an iMac for business at a fixed location and a Powerbook (which is much older) for traveling.  I want to share files, especially email, between the 2 Macs.  Can I do this using iCloud?

Some more info is probably necessary.  My Powerbook is NOT using Lion.  In fact, it can't because its processor is too old.  Can I use iCloud with it?
Also I use Entourage (Microsoft Office) for Mail and that's where I really need to share data, emails, etc.

  • Can I share files between two different networks at same location?

Until TWC can offer DOCSIS 3.0 later this year or next...
    - In my home I have a closet where all my audio, video and network come together.
    - I have two cable modems from Time Warner
    - Modem A goes to a WRT320N; 192.168.0.1
-- This router connects all my "heavy" downloads, ie. DirecTV receivers, Netflix, home server w/videos, gaming, etc.
    - Modem B goes to a E2000; 192.168.1.1
-- This router connects my everyday use computers so they don't suffer poor speeds from all the traffic on Modem A
My question is, how or can I somehow share files between these two routers without the need for hitting the modems? Obviously I can just push files over the Internet but I am doing it at a much slower speed due to upload restrictions on the modem.
Thank you for any help on this!

The easiest way would be to assign LAN IP 192.168.1.2 to the WRT320N and disable the DHCP server. Then assign static IP addresses in 192.168.1.* to all devices connected to the WRT at the moment, e.g. 192.168.1.10, 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.2, DNS 192.168.1.2 (or DNS servers of your ISP).
Now you can connect a LAN port of the WRT to a LAN port of the E2000. All DHCP clients get the IP address from the E2000 which will assign the E2000 as gateway, i.e. they use the E2000 for internet. All other devices will have static IP addresses and use the WRT as gateway.

  • Can't share files from GB to iTunes.

Now that I am using the new GB I am not able to share files with iTunes that I used to be able to share.  I get a message saying "The bounce file exceeds the maximum file size."  It says to change the format to CAF but I don't see where to do that.

GarageBand does (not yet) allow to share to iTunes as CAF file.
If you are getting this error message, your exported file must be larger than the limit for 2 GB as an uncompressed AIFF file.
Have you set your export settings to 24bit AIFF? Then try to change it to 16 bit AIFF: Alternately, you can either split your song and export it in two parts, each smaller than 2GB, or export a compressed AAC version.

  • Can you share files in the cloud with people who are not on the team?

Just wondering if you can share files with people that are not on the team. The paid for team members.

They have not upgraded to iOS 5

Not sure what type of files you are trying to share, but you can't use Bluetooth.
Emails/text the files to each device.

  • Can't share files with Macbbok Air and Windows XP PC

Despite several calls to apple support I am still unable to share files with the PC.The PC is wired to the router and the macbook is wireless.
I can see the shared files on my PC in the finder of the MAC but whan I click on the file it says that 'original item "shared file" cannot be found'.
or when connecting via go-connect to server-, the error message
' the volume "Shared file" cannot be mounted' appears, this is followed by a message 'sorry the operation could not be completewd because an unexpected error occurred (Eror code -6602)
I can also only connect as a guest via Finder and sometimes when trying to connect the error maessages do not appear but the computer seems to absorb a lot of CPU usage, get hot and freeze.
    Any ideas please?
I have tried turning off firewalls on both computers and have spoken to support for the d link router who confirmed that the router doesnt block file sharing.

Actually, I just typed in smb://PCNAME without any folders, logged in as a guest (I don't have a password-enabled share setting in Windows 7), and my Mac kindly asked me which volume to mount. I chose Users, and it popped up in Finder. Fully browsable.
