Can't share photos to my iMac via iCloud

I am trying to share photos on iPad mini #1 to an iMac.
I am able to share from the mini #1 to mini #2, an iPhone, and to a MacBook Air. The one thing I can't do is get the photos shared to show up on the iMac.
When I share from mini #1 to the iMac, I get an email telling me that the mini wants to share photos. When I click on Subscribe in the email, I get a message saying
"iCloud Photo Sharing is not available for this device."
"To subscribe you need to be signed in to iCloud on:
an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6 or later, or
a Mac with OS X 10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later"
My system meets these requirements: The iMac has OS X Yosemite 10.10 and iPhoto 9.6.
The folder that is being shared from mini #1 appears in the iMac iPhoto>iCloud>Family and Friends' Streams, but it has no photos in it.
I have Photo Sharing signed on in iPhoto Preferences and in iMac System Preferences>iCloud>Photos>Options
The MacBook Air is running Mavericks, OS 10.9.4.
Could the problem be Yosemite is setting up the shared folder in iPhoto but not displaying the photos? It's working in Mavericks.
Thanks

Shows are not downloaded from icloud, they come from the itunes store.

The iWork Public Beta allowed me to share Keynote presentations with anyone via the web. Now Apple tells me the Public Beta is being replaced by iCloud. How can I share a Keynote presentation online via iCloud? Must the presentation be downloaded to view?

iCloud is not designed for sharing data with other people: you will need a third-party alternative such as DropBox or Sugarsync.

  • How can i share my iphotos on macbook via icloud so i can see them on all my other devices?

Hello there, if anyone can help..
I have a macbook (older white one) and just brought an ipad mini and want to view all my pictures stored in my iphoto account on my macbook on my new ipad mini. I have looked at forums and instructions and there is no option to stiech the photos on within my macbook so cant seem to do it.
I am currently operating on Mac OS x version 10.6.8 which tells me is the latest version when i try to do a software update.
Can anyone help me to do this please?

Would this be a different OS as currently on snow leopard I think
Yes, Snow Leopard is Mac OS X 10.6.8. You need OS X 10.7.4 Lion or later to use iCloud.
OS X 10.9 Mavericks is the latest version and is free. Your Mac is new enough to run it, so I'd recommend updating to Mavericks. Check for compatibility with any important existing applications you use first.
what one will be compatible with sharing iPhoto's on iCloud?
As I mentioned above, you need Mac OS X 10.7.4 or later to use iCloud. Mavericks is recommended.
Also will this update wipe my macbook of its current data or just stay the same with only the operating system changing?
It'll just update the operating system, but you should ALWAYS BACK UP before updating the operating system - just in case...

  • HT4759 how to share photo in my pc via icloud

Q1:  Installed icloud in my PC and add pics in the folder.  How to sync between pc & ipad?
Q2: Can I create iff. photo album in icloud and sync to ipad?
    Tks for your teaching!!!!

If you added the photos to the photo stream upload folder on your PC, they should appear on your iOS devices in the my photo stream album, provided all devices are signed into the same iCloud account and have photo stream enabled.
Photo stream supportes JPEG, TIFF, PNG and most RAW photo formats.

  • Can I erase photos from my iPhone via iCloud and have them erased on all my connected devices?

I took photos at work, completely forgetting about my iCloud setting, I erased them off of my phone/iCloud  this morning. But they may have uploaded to iCloud last night. These are not photos my children need to see

Once they are deleted from iCloud they will be deleted from all devices accessing the photos from iCloud. The exceptions here are a computer (you will need to delete it manually) and the device that took the photo, I am assuming your iPhone 5. There you will need to delete it from your camera roll too.

  • How can I transfer photos from my Imac OS9 to a Macbook Pro OS 10 ? 10

How can I transfer photos from my Imac OS9 to a Macbook Pro OS 10 ?

The easiest way is probably to use a USB flash drive (you may have to test whether it is compatible with the Mac OS 9 iMac).
Somewhat more complicated would be to connect the two computers via Ethernet to (the built-in switch of) a broadband router, and then transfer files over the Internet (or a local network).
There are other methods as well (FireWire, CD-R, et cetera), depending upon the exact computer models involved.

Can you attach photos to an email via ipad?

    Yes.
Open a new email and touch and hold in the body of the email, when you release you should see "insert photo or video" select that then choose the desired photos.   Alternately you may go to your photos and select the photo(s) you wish to send and press the "share" button looks like a box with a arrow coming out of it.  Once you press share you can choose email.

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.  Then log back in and re-enable, respectively.  That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • How can I transfer photos from my  iMac to my iPad and not lose the ones already stored on the iPad.

How can I transfer photos from my  iMac to my iPad and not lose the ones already stored on the iPad?  When using iTunes to sync a folder from the iMac to the iPad it always removes anything previously synced.
    Help appreciated
    David

I've just found out the reason for this behaviour. I am syncing from a computer which is different to the one I first synced with. iTunes can't cope with this situation so deletes anything synced from another source.

  • Can you share photos between machines that use the same wifi network? Thanks for your help.

Can you share photos on i-photo between machines that use the same network or even between different accounts on the same machine? I know you can share music on i-tunes but can you do the same on i-photo? Thanks for your help.

    Yes.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
You can figure out using it with another machine from that too

Can't share photos using photo stream in iCloud. File is always blank.

    Hello desert_dweller5,
It sounds like you art trying to access a Shared Photo Stream, but you do not have one of the devices to enable your Apple ID as an iCloud account.  The following article provides information on how Shared Photo Streams work:
    iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4486
The article states that for privately Shared Photo Streams to work, the recipient will not only have to have an Apple ID, but it will have to be an iCloud account:
Friends and family with iCloud accounts can view your photos in the Photos app on any device using iOS 6 or later; on a Mac in iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later; on a Windows PC with Windows Vista or later and iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later installed; or on a second generation or later Apple TV with software version 5.1 or later installed. They can also view your photos on the web if you enable Public Website in the settings or options for your Shared Photo Stream.
Since you do not have an iCloud account and just and Apple ID, your friend can share the photo stream as a public website so that you can view it, as stated in the same article:
Can I share with people who don't have an iCloud account?
Yes. If you enable Public Website in the settings or options for your shared photo stream your photos will be published to a website that anyone can view in an up-to-date web browser.
To be able to change an Apple ID to an iCloud account, you would need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later or a Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later as stated in the following article:
Creating an iCloud account: Frequently Asked Questions
