Can't shut mail in infinite loop

I can't shut my mail account, and I cannot turn my mac air off. Has anyone else had this problem?

What have you tried in order to shut down the Mail/computer?
If you have tried this, try this: Go to>Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor
Click on Mail, then click "Quit Process."

How do I cancel a sub vi stuck in an infinite loop?

Hi,
I am attempting an implementation of the Constrained Nonlinear Optimization sub vi. It works perfectly 99.9% of the time but gets stuck the other .1% of the time. It is supposed to time out when it cannot find a solution, but it is failing to do so. Consequently my VI regularly crashes.
Apparently this is a known issue with this subvi. The NI whitepaper mentions that this is caused by a subvi while loop that can get stuck in an infinite loop. The work around is suggested to be to add a counter to the loop and exit it after a certain number of iterations.
I can find the infinite loop occuring in the subvi. But the sub vi opens as a clone and will not let me edit it. How do I work around that?
Failing that, is there a way from the main vi to cancel the optimization vi after a certain time so that the program can move on?
Suggestions would be appreciated.

Abort the program. Press ctrl+M when you have VI opened as clone. This will open it in edit mode.

Mac Mail downloading emails in an infinite loop.

I can't sort this out:
When I opened my brand new MacBookPro today OS X 10.6.7 was frozen and I had to force a shut down.
Once the computer was back on I tried to open Mail but I had a message that said that the index was corrupted and I had to create a new one.
Once a new index was created, Mac Mail has started downloading the last 480 emails I received in an infinite loop. It has already downloaded over 10K times the same emails!!
I have tried to rebuild the mailbox and I have deleted the index file a few times but the problem persist.
Please help!! I got a lot of work right now, I need my Mac Mail.

Well I'm having the same problem after also trying to send an email with photos as attachments.
The email keeps getting put into my draft mailbox "On My Mac". I've tried removing the attachments and then deleting the email,I've tried deleting the mailbox, I've been to the server and deleting the email I found there, but as you say, everytime, it comes back from the dead. I've gone to my mail preferences and changed the port and nothing seems to work. What is strange, is that everytime I click on the OK button on the error message, it starts again and puts another copy of the message into the draft mailbox, so I end up with multiple copies of the same email, complete with attachments.
I've tried turning airport off while I do this, and then turning it back on after deleting, but it hasn't helped.
I'm baffled as to what to try next.

Mail is In an Infinite loop. after trying to send photo attachment

Mail has been working fine until my wife tried to send 3 MB of photos as an attachment. Now the Mail is in an infinite loop. The error message is: " Some actions taken while the account “.Mac Account” was offline could not be completed online.
Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox “On My Mac” in “On My Mac” so that you can complete the actions while online.
Additional information: The connection to the server “mail.mac.com” on port 993 timed out. " I have deleted all the mail library files I can find and restored using Time machine. The "On My Mac" mailbox keeps reappearing from the dead ! NO help. What is causing this ? Hoe do I fix it I have 2 Mail providers, Apple and Earthlink.

If you cannot get mail to quit/force quit, you can always remove power from your Mac.
NOTE: removing power is a bad idea, and can result in data loss, but sometimes it is the only thing left to do.
Press and hold the power button for 5 to 10 seconds, and the Mac will power off.
When you power back on, the Mac should reboot.

Which Mail icon? That in the Applications folder, that in the Dock, or some other? You do not have to quit your applications in order to shut down your computer (heck, you hardly ever need to shut down your computer).

What model MBP and which version of OS X? Sounds as if the hard drive may have failed. If you have an installation disc, try booting with it. If your machine came with Lion or Mountain Lion, try booting to the Recovery partition - Command and R keys held down while booting.

Mail step in workflow is in infinite loop.

Dear All,
I have created a workflow with deadline monitoring feature.In the workflow created,I have defined a mail step in a loop with loop condition priority = 8 and three minute for deadline.When the workflow gets triggered , the mail step is in infinite loop and as a result the recipient is receiving the mail every three minutes once.
Now I want to stop the workflow from infinite loop.Please provide me the solution for which I will be grateful.

To Force Quit a program go to the Apple Logo item in the menu bar and select Force Quit. Select the program from the list and click Force Quit.
To Hard Power down it is the same as Wintel. Press the power button until the system Turns Off. Not the best solution but needed sometimes. Yes even on a Mac.

Can a CIN that is in an infinite loop send data to labview without exiting?

I have a C program that continuously queries a motor controller. Right now that program is in a labview vi as a CIN. The problem is that the CIN must exit before reporting the controller response to the labview vi. This means I have to constantly run the CIN which opens, queries and closes the connection each time. Is it possible to run the loop in the CIN itself so that the response buffer from the controller can be sent to the labview vi without exiting. Are there variables types that can be passed from the CIN before completing the CIN?

The controller is a Galil DMC4080 motor controller. I am running Labview under Mandrake Linux. I can connect and send commands to the controller using a C program. I modified the C program as a CIN to pass the controller response to the Labview front panel. Galil has a library of functions used for the controller commands. LStrPrintf is the command I use to write the data to labview. If no-one comes up with better ideas of what causes this then my questions and suggestions:
What do you mean by an infinite loop ? <br />
The page loads and then goes blank. What exactly happens next, does the page fully load and fully display again before going blank, and repeat this cycle endlessly in the same tab.
You do say the problem persisted in safe-mode and you had looked at the basic troubleshooting article. Buy that you can stop the problem by disabling javascript.

As you mention disabling javascript stops the problem, have you tried with<br /> Java script enabled but

* advanced options - ALL OFF<br /> What happens do you get the problem then or not.
While on this firefox site if I look at the error console Ctrl+Sift+J or Tools -> Error console If I clear the console content and reload the webpage the error console shows only a couple of messages. YouTube home page give a lot of yellow triangle warnings about 200, but no red warnings, do you get red warnings.
You could also try on the problem sites eg YouTube changing the permissions with tools -> Page Info | Permissions
Did you try the Basic Troubeshooting suggestion of making a new profile. (Heeding the warning not to delete settings, otherwise you loose all bookmarks etc) did that help ?

You're saying this is happening on a Mac?? Find My iPhone is a feature of iOS devices, not Macs. If you are trying to change the iCloud ID on an iOS device, you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted. If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. My Mail has been freezing lately. Not sure what's up. ISP is not the fastest -- G3 air card -- but should be able to handle that. Saw under someone else's post suggestions to "Rebuild" the mail box. Did this for the first time. Went rather quick. So did it again. Same results -- uneventful. Hoping that smooths things out. Didn't know if there is some current issue with "Mail."

Yes, but the setText() is only invoked when the values are different. So I guess the math is causing some rounding errors each time resulting the values to be continually changed. So the other approach is to remove/replace the DocumentListener.
