Can't sign in on iMessage on my Mac, but can on my iPad and iPhone??

I can't sign in on my iMessage on my Mac. When I put in my user name and password it just spins.... till I cancel it. rebooted. Password is correct - if I type an incorrect one, it lets me know. Thoughts? Preferences isn't available to check either. FRUSTRATED!!!

Check for miss-types of the email address
Check the spelling of the email address
Check that all letters are lower case
Make sure that special characters are correct, e.g. no commas (,) where there is supposed to be full stops (.), etc.
Make sure the date, time, and time zone are set correctly in Data & Time preferences, in System Preferences. Tip: Enable "Set date and time automatically" in Date & Time preferences to automatically keep this information accurate.
If third-party firewall or port filtering software is installed, it needs to be configured to allow connections to apple.com, verisign.com and verisign.net. A list of ports required for using FaceTime and Messages is in Using FaceTime and iMessage behind a firewall. Please consult this article for further help configuring firewalls and Internet security software.

Sign out of your Apple ID at these locations on your Mac:
Messages > Preferences > Accounts tab. Click iMessage in the left column, then click Sign Out.
FaceTime > Preferences. Select your Apple ID, then click Sign Out.
Close FaceTime and Messages on your Mac.
Open FaceTime and Messages, then sign in to your Apple ID in Preferences.

To change the ID:
Settings > Store > Apple ID. Sign Out of the old and in with the new.

Use the Connection Doctor tool (Mail.app > Window > Connection Doctor) to check what's going on with the connections (and to get some diagnostic messages), then review the diagnostics and the current settings with the requirements established for your particular mail provider.

I can not receive my mail on my MAC but can on my Ipad and Iphone.

I can receive my .me mail on my Iphone and Ipad but not my MAC. the Mail box is set up with the new p99.... in the incoming mail server. It was working fine last week. My account type email address is <Edited by Host> , but the user name is sjgilreath is this suppose to be correct. Second part of the problem is my business email <Edited by Host> is also not working all of a sudden again can get mail on the Ipad and Iphone not the MAC. This is set up as pop.secureserver.net. I am having basically the same problem. I'm getting all my pop mail from other accounts but my [email protected] address, now iCloud, is not getting my mail. It comes through on my iphone and my ipad and my iMac 10.6.8 in my studio, but not on my MacBook Pro 10.7. All I see is the little triangle with the ! . I have the old mac set to leave messages on server ( not upgradeable to 10.7)

Why can't my iPad and iPhone read mime-attachment

I have 3 iPhones, 2 iPads and 5 MACS in use throughout my company. One of our business contacts has sent emails to us that display in all the iPads and iPhones as a MIME Attachment and you cannot read the message, however on the MACS it appears as a normal email that you can read.
Any suggestions as to how to read the email correctly on the iPhone and iPad?

As you probably know, mime is an older format for xmitting e mail attachments. Mostly unsed for the last 5 years. There is one app in the store called Secure email reader that says it can read those attachments. Give it a try!

If you have automatic downloads enabled on the iPad then any app that is compatible (e.g. it's not an iPhone only app and you have the relevant iOS version) will be downloaded and installed on it (and similarly for the iPhone and apps that you download on the iPad) - you can't just have it download iPad specific apps. Similarly when you connect to your computer's iTunes if you have it set to (on the device's Apps tab) to automatically sync all new apps, you can't set a distinction there either.

Maybe you would have better success posting in the iPhone forum for an answer. The iPhone is used for the hotspot - but you must have a data plan that allows it for it to work - AFAIK. Try the iPhone forum.

How can I set iPad and iPhone with IOS6 to do not remember wifi and proxy credential

My company want to implement the Password Policy to limit the failure logon count.
Such as Lock users if they try logon with invalid password for 3 times.
The problem occur on iPad and iPhone my iPad using IOS6. and user had change their password.
iPad and iPhone remember the Wifi and proxy credential. and try to connect with the saved credential.
I monitor on my system and found Wifi connection try 2 times with saved credential and prompt for new password
When I enter the corrected new password . So I the proxy server detected the invalid login 3 times or more and lock those account.
So could anyone told me on how to set iPad and iPhone to do not save the user credential... ?

How can I differentiate between iPad and iPhone iMessages for the same contact?

I have my sister in law's email and phone number all in the same contact. She iMessages me from both her iPad and her phone. They come up as two different iMessage conversations, but they both are under her name. When I go to text her I don't know if I'm sending it to her iPhone or iPad. Anyone know if there's anyway to differentiate? Sometimes looking at what was previously said in the conversation helps but I can't always remember (nor do I know which device he was messaging me from in the previous convo). Thanks all

Try scrolling to the top of the conversation and tapping Contact. You will then see the originating address highlighted in blue on the contact. If the iPad and iPhone are creating two different conversations, chances are if the email address is highlighted it's coming from the iPad; if the phone number is highlighted it's coming from the iPhone (although not necessarily). To know for sure you would have to ask her to check Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and tell you which is checked under "Start new conversations from" on both devices to know for sure.

In order to use your Apple ID to create an iCloud account, the primary email address associated with the ID must first be verified. To do this, Apple will send a verification email to your account and you must respond to the email by clicking the Verify Now link. Make sure you are check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

Once Imessage has been set up and sync between your ipad and iPhone. Then sign out of the imessage account on your ipad, if you were to sign back in would any conformation email or text be sent to you again informing you that you are now signed back in?

I have the new iPad and iPhone 4s. iMessage has already been set up syncing these two devices before, but I am now logged out on my iMessage on the iPad but still logged in on the iPhone.
My question is, if I sign back into the iMessage on my iPad will Apple send any confirmation to my Email address or phone number stating that I am now receiving iMessages etc on both the iPad and iPhone and that these's two devices are now synced again?!?
*please note that the two devices have been previously set up for iMessage and synced to both receive them, it's just a case of me signing back in on the iPad, but I would like to know if Apple send any confirmation that a certain device is now receiving the messages also, I'm assuming they must for security reasons but I guess if you've already set up the two devices they might not.

No need for alarm. There are several folks a day posting like threads. Most folks know these phishing attempts for what they are and merely delete with prejudice.
To the bottom line... if you wish - and I am sure Apple will take notice - you should FORWARD the email to [email protected] and delete.

Check to see if they are on your calendar on icloud.com. If they aren't, all you can do is try to restore to your last backup, although it isn't clear that calendar events are included in the iCloud backup.

I am puzzled by this. The laptop doesn't need the Apple ID - but iTunes does. I could be missing something but ....
Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.
